I remember madly trying to aux pioneer while working full-time, for a couple of Aprils. It was totally exhausting. The first time I thought it was because I wasn't committed enough to the work, not "spiritual" enough. I soon realised it was the impossible standards set by the Society to those who were already pushed to the limit.

Will You Make Room for Pioneering?
by TMS inregardless of scriptural implications, creating special categories of service such as colporteur, pioneer, special pioneer, etc.
was a brilliant move.. the prestige, status and few little perks associated with those committing to being full-time workers is miniscule compensation for their sacrifice of time, lifestyle, income and educational opportunities.. yes, the hour requirements have dropped on several occasions.
how many on the board know that the regular pioneer requirement was once 150 hours a month, then 1200 hours a year, than 1000, now 90-vacation/assembly time?.

It wuz bonza mate - youse all shoulda been there!
And a translation for Francois/e :
We had a great time.
Sheilas = women
Silly bugger = silly bloke = silly man
Slab = box of 24 cans of beer
Snags = sausages
Grouse = great, good
Lippy = lipstick (not that I wear the stuff )
Roo = kangaroo
Ute = utility truck
Wot a blast = it was fun
Kiwis = New Zealanders
Fush and chups = fish and chips (written phonetically in NZ accent)
Shooting through = leavingNB. Now you septic tanks know how us Aussies feel when we have to interpret YOUR slang!

How does one become a JW???
by Downdog01 inevery source i've looked at is very vague and my witness friends just keep encouraging me to stop asking questions and come to meetings.
my sense is, since i disagree so much with jw doctrine and the way it is presented in awake and especially watchtower that i'd never make it as a jw.
still i am curious what the process is and what "tests" if any one must pass.. any info will be much appreciated.. thanks,.

Newbie saying hello and glad to be here
by Calico_Cat inhello, i've been lurking the board for quite sometime now and i have also read crisis of conscience.
my hubby and i stopped attending the meetings since december and had our first christmas in 6 years.
it was fun although the feelings of guilt are still within us.. we've been visited by the elders twice but we managed to keep them at bay.

Language course for Aussie BBQ (Lesson 1)
by ozziepost in) the sydney bbq will be held next sunday, may 27th.. some may appreciate some instruction in the aussie language, so each day look here for a lesson in strine (that's australian language).. 1. at the bbq, if someone asks you: "wanna cuppa?
" they mean "would you care for some tea?".
