my favorite...that only JW's (all 6 million) will be saved...if that 's the case...Jah better have prozac growing on trees because many of these are really "depressed souls"...and will need an antidepressant in big doses...

KM - Local Needs

i thought it would be interesting for those of us who still attend the meetings to let everyone know what our local needs part was/will be this week.

(the km allots 15 minutes to local needs at this weeks service meeting).

Local needs talk her in my cong (Mass) is on "apostacy"...a whacko began to partake recently (last year and this year) and is beginning to spout his own ideas as part of the "F&D slave" class...a real riot !!! Elders don't know what to do...CO came and is putting the clamps down...this person will be tossed if he doesn't shut up soon...everyone now avoids this "anointed brother of Christ" as if he has the plague...WTF?

this is going to get good...a reenactment of the Salem witch trials except ..."I am there"...

my aunt loyal wife and uncle smooth talking elder were married over 30 years.

they had 4 children and he owned a small business.

he always employed witnesses.

I think this type of "activity" in "Jehovah's pure organization" is pretty rampant...I live on the east coast and know of two similiar situations where "prominent" ones (elders) got the hots for the local talent and decided to do the nasty - quietly until they got caught...both instances the elders were able to "cop a plea" by knowing the committee rules and just got publically reproved...whatever that means in JW dom...another case happened to someone in my family in the upper west...hubby...former elder (bounced do to pornographyseveral years ago) was on the fast track again and was appointed a MS...two years later...he's shagging a local pioneer with a kid who's the wife of a local elder in the same congo...all hell broke out...even the neighbors know something was up...but...the adulterer (associated with a local prominent aka money bags family) was able to show "repentance (and teach his new flame how to do that too - though she was able to leave the kid to her elder hubby so she could "move on") so both were just publicaly reproved...for about 6 months...now both have full priveleges again (though he is not an MS) and both will become fast track again...and this is the quality of some of the low lifes walking the streets in the interest of the "good news" telling those in the "world" what they must do to get saved...yeah...join them...major joke and these clowns all think they're part of a wholesome org whose members will only get saved...who would want to be with the likes of these people anyway...?

hello everyone, i was raised in the borg from about 1983 till i fell away around 1998. i have only been to a couple of memorials over the years and i have lost touch with alot of people that i care about.

just wondering if there were any other ex-witnesses on this board from the hollywood area.

i went to the north cong and new alot of people from other halls in hollywood, davie and pines.

Old People Ask

ok, i was reading the awake article thread, and i thought, we have "yound people ask" but no "old people ask" so what about some article titles for the old?.

old people ask: "why has the new system been *just around the corner* for over 100 years?".

old people ask: "why didn't i save for my retirement?".

This is an encouraging experience from Andre Ramseyer, overseer, just back from the Branch Committee Course at Patterson: In England one of our blind brothers had a seeing-eye dog that would faithfully guide and take him to the meetings each week. He got into the routine of bringing him every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday to the Kingdom Hall. When the brother died, the dog became the property of another blind person, this time a non-witness. The dog left the man puzzled. EEvery Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday the dog was rearing to go and encouraging his owner to get up and go. So finally the man followed the dog's lead, and unknown to him, was brought to the Kingdom Hall and guided to a chair. The man didn't know where he was, but he enjoyed the warm reception he got from everyone. He started to study with the witnesses. Not only does this experience show how Jehovah can even use his animal creation to bring someone into the Truth, but.... also: If a dog knows where he should be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, isn't it a good example for us and our meeting attendance?

is this the ending...likely not ...as we all have had experiences with the "friends" as we continued for any length of time in the "truth"...what ending could you propose? Mine goes something like this...

Cute story...very "upbuilding"...the dog continued to lead the new convert to the KH...in time though, the novelty wore off...the "warm receptions became less frequent...after a CA demo and presentation, some of the "friends" quietly became jealous of the dog. (he had far more success in the "ministry" than they. He was performing a "sacred work". They approached the elders and complained that the dog was was unfit for the KH...he smelled, needed a bath and was flea infested...plus, he would urinate on the carpet sometimes (having walked some distance and sat for 2 hours in the hall).Also sister "Perfect" gossiped to others about the dirty dog and his blind companion. She was increasingly PO'd and considered leaving the congregation to go somewhere "clean"...after many months of meeting and behind closed door sessions, the local "elders" decided the dog must stay outside after he brought the man to the KH..so out the dog went- with no food or water or shelter from the elements.

After a particularly harsh winter day, the dog 'decided" he wasn't being treated fairly or lovingly (or normally) and decided not to break his routine and only come on "nice weather days". He had better things to do. A local neighbor (worldy) had taken a particular liking to the dog. He was always warm and friendly and caring and generous - for no reason at all. The dog really liked being around him.

The friends lost track of the dog and his mate. Never visited them. Only a few wondered where they were. In time, the dog stopped coming at all. The "friends" just considered him "weak" and misguided. This part of the story never was discussed further. It never made the CA demo cut.

How easy and great it is to always be able to point fingers at the actions of others without ever considering how our own actions (or inactions) should be considered in light of theri reaction.

My "end of the story" is likely quite realistic...
