No such thing as 'the Great Tribulation'. While I have no love for Trump, I don't believe the Big A is here. Life will go on as it always manages to.

Great Tribulation and Trump
by TakeOffTheCrown inplease, let's discuss this subject without attacking one another.. it appears that trump has won a victory that no one expected.
is it possible that trump may play a part in the great tribulation?.
there are some who believe trump is one of the most unqualified of men to ever be elected president of the united states.

What if one of the GB members suddenly needed blood?
by StarTrekAngel inthere is not much to be analyzed.
in a cult enviromment the leader will always look up for himself.
he would never hesitate to break every rule to save his own skin.

Back in the 60s organ transplants were banned for being 'cannibalism'. Then suddenly the policy changed and organ transplants were ok. No explanation given for the flippity flop. I suspect one of the GB needed a transplant and presto chango! the light got brighter.

Learn To Speak Like A Jehovah's Witness
by pale.emperor infor those who were never a jw, here's a fun guide to passing yourself as one:.
privilege [priv-lij] - a duty nobody would volunteer to do which is assigned to you without your say so.
such as cleaning the toilets, picking up other brats candy wrappers in the back row and being stuck on locking up duty for the 7th time in a row.. df'd [dee-eff'd] - disfellowshipped.

Respect for Parents- children must respect their parents, especially the father because he's the boss, even if said father rapes or beats his children. Respect for parents doesn't necessarily translate into helping them out as their health fades and they get up in years. You're supposed to be pioneering or serving at Bethel, not supporting your elderly and sick mom and dad!

Question: Can't You Just Ignore A Judicial Committee?
by Sorry inone thing i've never understood is judicial committees.
yes, i understand it's held to see if elders should go through with the disfellowshipping process.
but why give them all the power?

Of course your friend can refuse to talk to the elders or attend a JC. Despite what the elders had most of us believing at one time or another, they are not all-powerful mouthpieces of god. They're just mortal men, some of them pathetic mortal men. The only power they have over your friend is what she chooses to give them. Those elders may still, probably will DF her anyway, but she's under no obligation to be there if she doesn't want to.

"The G.B. is neither inspired nor infallible"
by smiddy inthat admission in the feb.17 ,study edition of the watchtower , " who is leading gods people today ?
" "the governing body is neither inspired, nor infallible, therefore it (they/we) can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction .".
have the many jehovahs witnesses past and present who have lost their lives by refusing blood transfusions due to the prohibition on blood tranfusions by jehovahs witnesses really got the sense of this statement ?.

Then why the hell do they act as if they are? Why do they demand that their drones view them and treat them as if they are? They are or they aren't. Can't have it both ways. If they aren't, they have no claims to the obedience and adoration of millions of people.

Arrival of War in 1914 a Shocking Development
by berrygerry inone comment-giver during the rules study, remarked that ww1 was predicted by wt to arrive in 1914, despite the fact that everyone expected an era of unparalleled peace.. this was something continuously drilled into our heads - how peaceful everything was prior to ww1.. when you look at wt library under 'world war i' - "unexpected" - the results are all offline - there are no recent references ( unexpected: re 106; w92 5/1 4-5; yb87 124; w86 2/15 5; w86 11/1 6 ).

the offline quotes are as follows:.

From the history books I've read, war wasn't completely unexpected. Tensions between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the rest of Europe had been building for years before World War I began. No one expected it to begin at precisely the time it did, but the murder of Archduke Ferdinand and his wife was the match that set the powder keg off. It would have happened sooner or later anyway. If war had come in 1908 or 1920, the JWs would have gone back and edited their prophecies accordingly. Its what they do. When something doesn't work out, they say "Oh, you misunderstood us. We didn't mean that at all!"

Jonathon Edwards preached to the Red Indians
by StopTheTears ini never knew that the famous new england theologian jonathan edwards spent some years as a missionary to the red indian tribes.
there are various modern ideas as to how one should preach to those completely ignorant of christ and the way of salvation, but edwards had confidence that the gospel is the power of god unto salvation for all people.
perhaps someday those still living in pagan lands will accept christ and share in the blessings of america.

OMG! I haven't heard anything so patronizing and condescending since I quit going to the Kingdumb Hall. And what if the godless 'heathens' tell you to take your Jesus and stuff it? Are you going to force them to convert at the point of a sword or at the end of a gun? Burn them at the stake for being 'demon worshippers'?

CO visits me today
by Chook ini'm at home and hear knock on door , i sneak and look i see two men and recognise one voice and go back into lonunge and ask wife ( who is inactive believer) does she want to speak to elders ,she says no ,then literally 3 minutes has pasted another knock the 3 minutes seemed like an eternity.
so brave heart me think fuck it i'll answer ,i invite them in for coffee, i recognise one older man he is a unique elder who i genuinely was fond of when i was in his name is andrew ,the other guy i didn't recognise we will call harry ( not real name australia doesn't have that many cos with his same name).
so i think to myself i will tread lightly and not cause to much of a fuss for the wife's sake, but my personality is very the opposite of treading lightly ,as you read my threads you will realise i'm not timid.

chook, you get the hero award. I only wish I'd had your presence of mind the last time a pair of elders showed up at my door.

What if all JWs had put off having children?
by keyser soze incould the religion have survived?.
i know it was never forbidden, but i remember growing up, how we were encouraged to put it off until the new system, and instead focus on a career in the full time service.. can you imagine if every young jw had chosen to follow that counsel?
it's difficult to imagine the religion being sustainable without the next generation of born-ins..

Nevuela, the Amish have started taking in foster kids and adopting. It's probably because their numbers are so low that the gene pool has become a very shallow puddle. I agree. Surprised the WT hasn't jumped all over 'rescuing' children from the evil world and raising them as 'true Christians'.

Jehovah's Witnesses ARE Christians, why do so many ex JW's deny this?
by nicolaou injehovah's witnesses accept jesus as christ, the son of god.
they try, in their own way, to live by his teachings and imitate him.
they pray, read the bible and meet together regularly for worship.. i won't minimise any of the harm and damage they cause but for the life of me, i can't see how anyone can credibly deny that they are christians.. why do so many former jws have a problem with this?

Just because you say "in Jesus' name amen" at the end of every prayer doesn't make you a Christian. Just because you throw a token mention of Jesus into a sermon or tract once in a while doesn't make you Christian. Especially when every other aspect of your religion is geared around venerating a group of seven men. At the summer conventions, were JWs told to show loyalty to Jesus? NO. They were told to show loyalty to the 'organization', another word for the Governing Body. That right there tells me what JWs really are: worshippers of the Governing Body.
