Sorry for your loss, at any age it is always too soon.
He accomplished much and helped many more in his life.
my father passed around 9 this morning.
he'd been in poor health for some time, but it still comes as a shock to have him gone.
we are going to miss him terribly.

in the 10/15 watchtower study edition on pg.
12 is the article " what kind of spirit do you show ?
" right away this article starts drawing the line of demarcation in the sand between who has the right to make decisions within jehovah's witnesses and who does not have the right to do so.
Great thread and opening comments flipper - Have not read a thread lately that has pissed me off like this one has in a while.
It is hard to imagine how the average JW just gulps this crap down without giving thought to the reasoning behind it.
Again, good points flipper!
hi all, i'm a long time lurker, ready to join in and add my two cents worth now and then!
i was in the religion for 25 years, out now for 8, along with my husband, daughter, and son!
i would have to say pretty much the whole time i was in i didnt want to be, pretty much "dreaded" all aspects of it, meetings, service, assemblies, and talks, i hated talks, man o man would i be grouchy the whole week i had a scheduled talk.. we didnt have much family in, but lots of friends and many jw employees, pretty much lost all that, down to just one jw employee left(thats a good thing).
Welcome Blackbird Singing !
Member since 2006, wow I thought I was shy.
so we all know the jw vocabulary is a weird one.
what words or phrases bugged you the most?.
a few of mine:.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but is something that I always thought was complete BS.
The one giving the talk or prayer or whatever from the platform addressing the entire audience as "brothers" .
Complete and utter nonsense! To reason or make the excuse that it was done this way 2000 years ago is idiotic.
some of mine are :.
boardwalk empire , deadwood , the borgias , game of thrones , homeland , vegas , political animal , the good wife, to name a few .
smiddy.
What? No one out there likes Louie.
i avoid newspapers and search out eyes.
i bumble my way on to hoarded subway seats.
my plump bottom overspills it?s share of seat, as i breathe warm and fuzzy greetings in to my startled neighbour?s face.

(we love and miss you, oompa.).
Lit one for Oompa.
how many jw suicides can you recall?.
is it more common than the rest of society?.
i personally know of 5.
When I first saw this topic I started to go through the names and numbers in my head, and I had to stop and start writing them down. And then I started going back through the years and I remembered another and then yet another. These are not ones that I just heard about through the JW coconut telegraph, these are ones that I knew personally.
I wrote down 8 names. The oldest and first was from over thirty years ago, when they recently changed their position on whether to have memorial services for suicides or not.
3 were from about ten or twelve years ago. The other 4 were in the past 2-3 years.
I'm sure that if I got out the rolodex I would come up with more. ( Ones that are on depression meds could easily go in the triple digits.)
