  What is an apostate?

  the meaning of 'apostasy' given in my dictionary is "abandonment of religious faith, vows, principles or party".

  i used to think that only cults considered leaving their religion to be apostasy, but according to my dictionary, as quoted above,everyone who changes their religion is technically an apostate.

  so were those of us who changed from other religions to become jws apostates then?

  Here is the definition of Apostate in the Reasoning from the Scriptures book I happened to pick up today:

  Apostasy

  Definition:

  Apostasy is abandoning or deserting the worship of God, actually a rebellion against Jehovah God. Some apostates profess to know and serve God but reject teachings or requirements set out in his Word. Others claim to believe the Bible but reject Jehovah's organization.

  So yes its anyone who doesn't want to be a Witness anymore. Personally, I am a double-dipped jelly donut apostate with sprikles.

  No More Kingdom Melodies on Napster

  the wts has recently filed copyright notices with the napster file sharing service.

  they will allow no kingdom melodies to be shared amongst internet users.

  i wonder why they would do this?

  Did the elders keep secret files on us?

  howdy all,.

  i've recently discovered all the great ex-jw sites on the internet, and i've enjoyed reading other people's stories.

  but a few passing comments in some stories have made me wonder: do or did the elders keep files on individuals in each congregation?

  I have seen such notations on the back of territory cards. This definately happens. Sometimes while going door-to-door I would accidentally knock on the wrong door, later seeing the notation on the back of the territory card. I just wonder how in the hell they tracked me down so efficiently since I gave them no information.

  JW's and all other religious sheep should heed the words of one Charles Taze Russell who declared "RELIGION IS A SNARE AND A RACKETT!"

  Unfortunatley for Russell, this was just a marketing slogan to him and he wanted to replace it with even more B.S.!

  I was allergic to the Watchtower

  as a boy, i would suffer severe attacks of sneezing, itchy eyes, and post nasal drip when i would read the watchtower.

  it was especially noticable during our family watchtower study.

  i began to think it was the paper its printed on.

  I had an interesting thing happen to me some six years after being disfellowshipped. I had just moved into a new pad on the trendy east side of Milwaukee. I had not yet forwarded my mail and hadn't informed any JW's about my new location. I was just getting off the graveyard shift and a girl I worked with whom I was dating came over. We were going to watch a movie at my house and decided to walk over to the liquor store across the street to grab a six-pack. On the way back from the store, some JW's were doing some street witnessing and stopped us. I did not let on that I was disfellowshipped, and politely took the latest copy of the Watchtower and Awake! Then of course they wanted my address so they could do a return visit. When I told them my address, their attitude changed. They quickly ended the conversation and hurried away, as if they knew that I was disfellowshipped.

  The incident stunned and frightened me, considering the possibility that the Society would keep track of me so closely. I'm convinced that they keep extensive records on everyone.

  On a totally different subject, when I was a Witness at age 16, some brothers and I got together to make a telephone directory of all of the Witnesses in our congregation. When we were finished and started to hand them out, the elders approached us and sternly warned us to stop distributing the directory immediately. Their reason was that during the great tribulation, the information would fall into the hands of the authorities and it would be easier for them to track down and persecute the congregation. Years later, I realize that the real reason was that they didn't want it to be easy for ex-members to contact or send mail to the congregation members.

  What is the role of the Annointed NOT on the GB?

  other than 'partaking', what exactly is it that 8,000 old boogers do the rest of the year?.

  doesn't anyone else find it odd that out of these 8,000+ old boogers, only like 9 of them are on the gb?
