  it hit me a few days ago.

  what happens if the u.n. searchs iraq and they find nothing?

  i mean it's kind of scary to think what will happen to bush's job approval rating if that happens.

  I think you ought to do a little web research and start with google "The National Security Strategy of The United States of America"

  Then tell me that Clinton was Unilateralist. It's true though that Clinton had a horrible foreign policy and it had very little strategy at all. Bush has declared that he will try to form ad hoc coalitions for various projects (wars) but if he can't get anyone to sign on he'll do what he wants when he wants to.

  It isn't that those who sign on are really contributing anything significant except for PR. For PR the US will pay back with special financial rewards.

  As for Nuclear Weapons. I say the US and Russia ought to give every country in the world a dozen. Then - everyone would have an even playing field.

  Patrick Buchannan asked a good question a while back. He asked if "Sadaam is so dangerous why isn't Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia etc. carrying on a pre-emptive attack? The US seems to be more afraid of Sadaam than those in his immediate area.

  Pure propaganda. You removed all credability to Pollacks statements by referring to his CIA credentials.

  All this crap about how Saddam is a simply awful dictator - "tens of thousands of political opponents and ordinary citizens have been subjected to arbitrary arrest and imprisonment, summary execution, and torture by beating, burning, electric shock, starvation, mutilation, and rape," (quote from G.W. Bush) - could easily be said about Communist China. Mao's heirs have signed on to the idea of a never-ending "war on terrorism," and are doing their part by stepping up repression against any dissident minorities that might be less than happy with rule from Beijing.

  The same might be said of our Turkish allies, who have managed to repress the Kurds far more effectively than Saddam, and whose love for torture is well-known to human rights advocates. The Chechens are tortured by the Russians, the despots of Africa are remarkably brutal even by the bloodthirsty standards of twentieth century rulers - and what of Pakistan, a key ally in the "war on
  terrorism," ruled by a military dictator and armed with nuclear weapons? Are all these countries and peoples to be "liberated" by U.S. force of arms?

  The purpose of this war is about impressing the world that the US is going to control things from now on. Oh yeah - did I mention Oil? But of course we have more noble goals. Maybe we'll donate two pennies from every barrel to the aids crisis in Africa.

  It is too difficult to get a blank check from congress without following through with war. Mobilization is very expensive. The decision for war has been made. Bush WILL come up with something. Part of the inspection process involves questioning of those who have worked in the Iraq weapons programs. If Iraq fails to cooperate in this questionable proceedure then Bush will consider that a material violation of the UN resolution.

  The new foreign policy of the US is unilateralism. They feel that if they want to do it they ought to be able to do it - even if it is illegal. There is nothing wrong with a sovereign nation having ANY kind of weapon they choose. There are no permits that have to be obtained. No country has to obtain a license from the US to have weapons of mass destruction. However if they use those weapons against another country in an offensive war then the offended country has the right to form a coalition to retaliate.

  Bush probably has enough justification for going to war over Iraq's shooting at American planes in the No-FLy zone.

  I have been looking at your comments and how you vehemently deny even the "possibility" of dire future consequences for mankind. Your remarks have a fog of fanatacism around them. Where you find fanatacism you find doubt.

  I am sure that you have a deep seated fear of the future. Lurking deep in your dreamworld is the idea that you are wrong and that these dispicable JW's are right.

  Apparently enough people on this board have this same quandry. The "end" seems to attract a lot of attention.

  If there is no intervention from the sky I think it is inevitable that humans will destroy themselves. We have become our own worst enemy. Selfishness is the motor of evolution. But at some point humans have to realize the importance of world-wide cooperation. That transition from selfishness to cooperation is what I think of as Armageddon. If some sort of power from the sky could intervene at the point where man would otherwise destroy himself - then a new "survival" paradigm would be possible. The thought that "we almost destroyed ourselves" could be a powerful force for restructuring things on earth.

  I believe this is exactly what the Bible is talking about though in its ancient symbolism and language. The powers represented as or by Jesus the "annointed one" will some day return. Jehovah's Witnesses have made this the focus of their whole religion. Without the resurrection of Jesus there could be no christianity. Without Christianity there wouldn't be a people prepared for survival. Jehovah's Witnesses with their strange doctrinal fence have evolved into a culture that can survive the coming shake-up in the world system.

  You know you are asking to be labeled a "kook". I have read a lot of the UFO stuff. I have been a skeptic with regard to this kind of information. Lights behaving in strange ways. Optical illusions. Schizophrenic observers. All can be used to discredit these reports.

  Until I experienced a situation first hand I would remain a skeptic. The event I witnessed was also witnessed by at least 11 other people in 5 different households. I personally did an extensive interview of 8 of them. My conclusion is that either the government has some absolutely amazing technology or we have some "visitors".

  Who would have thought 300 years ago that spinning a magnet surrounded by coiled wires would lead to the electronic world of today. I think there is a strong possibility that some civilizations with only about 500 years lead on us have figured how to jump through dimensional windows. It might be quite simple - perhaps as simple as the method we have developed of generating electricity.

  While I don't believe in a being usually labeled "God" - I wouldn't be surprised if we have some older brothers-in-evolution that have an interest in what's going on here. A code involving non-intervention - UNLESS - a valued species is about to exterminate itself would parallel our human interest in preventing certain species on Earth from becoming extinct.

  I have been overcome by the seduction of prophecy. This is a situation where you spend your whole life looking for something to happen. You join in ridiculing those who take a stab at predicting something when it falls flat. But at some point you just feel you have to say something. That's what I've done. It really isn't very complicated. And there is absolutely no need for me to answer those who doubt. You ought to doubt. And even if I hit it right on target... that still doesn't make me "right", although I will have a more attentive audience.

  Frankly, I hope I am wrong because you only have one chance in the prophecy business. If you hit it wrong you're out of the business - you become an unreliable source. Jgnat- has it right. There is nothing complicated here. Either I get it right or I get it wrong. No debates and arguments. If something happens as I expect then there will be plenty to discuss. If nothing happens - its over and I will then have more time for things that are rewarding in a monetary sense.

  rev 18:4 warns us to "get out of her my people.......",

  if we are/were his people, we would have got out of babylon the great before entering the ranks of jehovah's witnesses.

  the question is - why is he saying my people, who are the " my people" that he is talking to and where are such ones to "get out from" ?

  Get out of her MY people is not a problem if you think of geographical flight instead of symbolic flight. JW's had the same problem with the command to flee Jerusalem. In the first century it was a literal flight. JW's interpret the flight out of Jerusalem as the process of becoming a JW. They overlook the fact that the command to flee Jerusalem was given to those who already became Christians and would have no need to take a symbolic flight.
