I think you ought to have more serious targets for that kind of accusation. What about the governments of the world that march soldiers off to gain access to valuable resources and markets? ALL people are vulnerable to their individual belief systems. At least JW's have not contributed to the upheaval of world wars that have killed, maimed, starved people. Nor have they encouraged genocide. Sure they talk about the Armageddon remedy that they believe will kill billions of people - but they are simply following the example of their leader Jesus Christ. Jesus said wide is the path to destruction - narrow and cramped the road to salvation - and few even find it. JW's take that seriously and earnestly try to save people from that disaster.

Your heart is so filled with hate that it is bubbling up and clouding your vision.

JW = 6,000,000 people who would rather be killed than kill others. This is an astounding fact that can't be ignored. Your hateful comments do NOTHING against JW's and certainly don't help anyone. Go back to posting YOUR hope: that one day scientists will pull the magic rabit out of test-tube so that you can live forever.

The accusation that JW's are a money hungry organization doesn't harmonize with what they actually do. If they were primarily interested in money they would encourage American members to forget about their unproductive service (milliions of hours spent producing a 1/2 percent increase) and instead work overtime and contribute to the worldwide work where there is a significant increase.

They discourage their members from being successful in this world. If their members went to college and contributed to the organization they would have a lot more money. Their behavior indicates that money is not their primary purpose.

Judas seemed to be the one who worried about how the money was being spent.

You all have become irrational in your petty accusations.

Minimus, Metatron, Farkel etc. etc. I'll bet none of you have given even 1% of your income to charity.

Metatron:

You hate the Watchtower organization. And so does your back-up chorus. So anything they say or do is going to be twisted through your distorted glasses.

This is a completely honest and heartwarming experience for those who are devoted to a cause they believe in. It expresses the parents belief in the resurrection. It illustrates the devotion of even young children. The lesson is the same as the widows contribution. It may seem small and insignificant but everyone's contribution is important and counts.

This is another example of what is wrong with this board.

There are all sorts of appeals made in connection with death. There are memorial funds. People are encouraged not to buy flowers but to make out checks to the deceased favortite charity.

It's just that in this case you and your chorus just don't like JW's.

Tough! Get over it.

Did you ever defend the Borg?

i remember when i first started studying i was always so quick to defend the borg if anyone said anything negative about them.

i didn't even have a reason to or had any business doing so because i was so new and didn't even really know anything about it.

and i absolutley refused to believe that they could be involved in child molestation, even going as far as refusing to watch the news shows exposing the real truth.

Yes! I defend them when I feel the issue is defensible.

I have always looked for reasons to stay associated with JW's. At the same time I can see why people remain Catholic etc. Even though they know 90% is garbage people feel there is some redeeming side of their beliefs.

In the end it doesn't matter what religion you are when you die. When you die you supposedly have paid the price.

Counting Time..what your opinion?

when i was a dub i use to get so mad trying to get in the national average of 10 hours a month.

i would work during the week then get 2 - 2.5 hours on sat for maybe 8 - 10 hours a month.

others like the elders would always be above that average and a lot of the time some of these elders would skip out on vacation or who knows what on half of the saturdays.

Some of my thougths about counting time.

Since when is money more sacred and personal than time? JW's boast that they don't keep a record of how much money individuals contribute. But, then they have this rigid system of rewards built around how much time a person says they spend in field service. I think this is inconsistent. The excuse they give is always that they want to track the world-wide work. But this could be done with annonymous reporting.

The other thing I hate about reporting time is that it is almost always used as a club to beat up on people. You don't automatically become an Elder or Ministerial servant because you put in 20 hours of field service. But you definitely are disqualified if you put in less than 10. Anything below 5 hours tends to be referred to as "token" field service. This is a way of judging that is very upsetting. They seldom really look at a person as an individual - after all they are faceless "publishers".

The nice part about this , is like all bureaucratic systems, you may not get bit in the groin but you get bit in the behind. Here is how this works. The presumption is that the less time you put in the less "mature" you are. The other side of this coin of presumption is that the MORE time you put in the MORE mature you are. The consequence is that they ignore these MORE mature people thinking they have no personal problems. The truth is that probably most of the apostates come from the ranks of the so-called "mature" ones.

When you see someone sacrifice family for field service you know that is a ticking time-bomb. How many times have you seen people on assembly programs talk about their personal sacrifices to pioneer only to hear later that they left the organization or had to be disfellowshipped for some indiscretion with one of their "pioneer" lovers. Of course I don't have figures for this because no one is reporting the number of pioneers that have been casualties of this fanatacism.

Another problem with setting goals like 10 hours per month is again the flip side of the bureacratic coin. Many who might be quite comfortable with 5 hours per month push themselves to get 10 hours per month. But many who have the capability of putting in 30 hours per month will stop at 15 hours because after all they have exceeded the quota by 50%.

This bureaucratic nonsense will not end. Bureaucrats are afraid that no-one would go out at all if they didn't make field service the coin of the realm.

Thanks for the honorable mention. I envy you. You are exactly where I would have wanted to be "philosophically" 30 years ago.

Farkel: I had a career ahead of me playing "cello". I was preparing for my audition with a major symphony orchestra when I was 18. The audition would have been a mere formality because my instructor was first chair. I decided that touring with the orchestra and so many concerts during meeting nights would dammage my spirituatliy. Yes. The road not taken...

Fortunately, my wife doesn't read this forum. I am fortunate to even have a wife. One of the fringe benefits of being a JW is that some really ugly men can attract an Alpha Female because she thinks Jehovah will someday make him a handsome prince. I married in 1973 and my wife thought she only had a couple of years to wait for me to change into the man of her dreams.

As a male I know that SEX and trolling for females is the BIG thing. All the other "big" things we try to do are just ways to dull the sensations coming from our gonads.

The main reason males strive for position in the congregation is to get the accolades of the "sisters". The more service time a male puts in the more stage time is granted.

We are truly pathetic. And we know it. So whether it is posting here or playing the piano we do these things to some sympathetic ethereal female floating among the neurons of our brains.

The problem is how to disguise our real intentions and stay happy though unsatisfied. And we are rapidly outliving our very desires.

Time for your greatest opus.

PS. To all you f--king contributors to lists of favorite posters. I NEVER make it to those lists. So I must be posting for my "balls" too.

Have none of you read a god-damned thing I'VE written. I thought I would try to make it to 1000 posts but screw it. You all prefer people who post AMEN!! 10,000 times.

Do you make active witnesses uncomfortable?

this weekend my wife and i visited with another couple, who although they are inactive, they also invited active witinesses to the their home along with us.

we knew most of the people there and they are aware that we are inactive - no big deal.

however there was one brother who did not know that were are inactive.

I like to ask active witnesses what they are doing instead of pioneering?
