Another victim thread. Poor me. Someone "taught me a lie".
The teachers made mistakes. They "misinterpreted" the scriptures and believed their interpretations were right.
And WE BELIEVED THEM.
....But (poor me again) I wasted (choose one 10,20,30,40,50) years of my life.
Baloney (I would rather say B.S.)
"Wasting life" is just rhetorical nonsense. You can't waste life. Whatever it is - that's what it is.
People go to college and then never get a job that fits their training. Was college wasted?
You're married 25 years and your mate abandons you. Were those years wasted?
Do you want to talk about wasted life? Young men dying on the battlefield. Children dying of starvation. Families struggling to get enough water for the day.
Get over it.

by TooBad TooSad inif the end does not come in 10 years then nothing is going to change.

our friends had parents who.

Converts Wife:
Get baptized in the name of the father, son, and holy ghost, grab a gun and go kill Vietnamese, Koreans, Iraqis, Serbs, etc. etc.
Why do you need to carefully follow a ritual when you are going to do the very opposite of what Christ taught?
Jesus is not the key! YOU are the key! You either follow Christ or it doesn't matter.
Who needs this kind of stupidity? -

Brant Jones Letters to and From the Watchtower- 2005-06
by uninformed inthanks to scully, i have figured out where to put these letters so all that would like to access them and read them can do so.--just click on the link below.. don't expect a lot from the letters, as i am a brick mason and not the brightest bulb on the (new) christmas tree.. in my correspondence with the wt, i exerted all my effort to keep the discussion on just the un, even though i did have misgivings on other matters.
i thought if i was able to keep the discussion on just the un that it would prove to be more difficult for them to disfellowship me, as it was their conduct that i was opposing, conduct that violated their own teachings.. it worked to some extent, as they had to trump up charges on us that we started our own religion because we had the memorial celebration in 2006 with our family rather than at the kingdumb hall.
it was a real pleasure to be disfellowshipped for their sin.

I too agree that the UN thing is a mere straw in their eye.
Their most serious problem is that the Great Tribulation hasn't started and that could change things overnight. -

Abstain from Blood...
by hotchocolate inmy first post was a few days ago now, and finally my heart has stopped pounding whenever i log on.. :-).

TD:
This is the first time I've read that argument about "abstain from blood" as an incomplete statement. Elegant proof! Simple and irrefutable.
The thing that irritates me - is that the Watchtower writers most certainly read this discussion group. At the very least there are hundreds of people who have read these excellent arguments and have written the Watchtower. The result? The Watchtower never deals with these arguments. They don't give their loyal soldiers the weapons to refute these arguments.
They are defeated on these points. They have NO REBUTTAL. -

I think it is lousy journalism on the part of the papers that feel the fact that this woman is a JW is significant to the case. It isn't. But these newspapers don't give the religion of other criminals.
To put the best possible spin on this - maybe the fact that the woman was a JW IS significant because her behavior was so unlike most JW's. But of course I don't believe that was the reason.
You said:
"you don't think being a little slanted in view wouldn't be justified?"
Being an X-JW may explain a person's "slanted" view but -no absolutely not it doesn't justify it at all. -

Dogpatch:
This thread measures up to the hate agenda of this board.
The only reason JW's were mentioned in the article is because people like to think ALL JW's are mental cases.
It would NEVER get attention if it said Irish Catholic woman chews off the ends of her foster childrens fingers.
Is this the kind of stupid article that affirms your warped attitude toward JW's. -

Would JW's would crash planes into buildings if the Society said to?
by isnrblog ini asked the three elders who disfelowshipped me this question.. basically, they replied, "the society would never tell them to do that".
thats not my question.
if they told you to, would you?.

Mean while, Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, etc. etc. spill barrels of blood on battle fields.
JW's let their little children die? So-called Christians think nothing of leaving field mines all over the place where they can blow off limbs of little children playing innocently in an open field.
When you can get THAT figured out then you can speculate on whether JW's would fly planes into buildings. -

Well apparently there are plenty of Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, who are more than willing to blow up men women and children (collateral damage?) because their elected leaders and clergy tell them its the right thing to do.

Why the Watchtowers "War" argument is totally bogus
by drew sagan infrom my own personal experience the watchtowers position on war always appeared to be one of the most difficult issues to navigate.
a number of times when i was first leaving the wts i spoke with jws who all used this argument to show me how "wrong" i was about the "truth".
while i knew the watchtowers arguments where wrong, i had a very difficult time figuring out exactly why it was wrong.
