What is the point?

The JW boards that I belong to are so heavily moderated that they are void of any intelligent discussion. Just the same old drivel replayed over and over and over and over.

The most exciting topic on one of these boards was whether you should take your shoes off at the book study. This got so many replies that people started complaining about everyone talking about it. Then everyone started complaining about everyone complaining. I got so excited I almost pissed on myself.

Waste of time, unless you’re into composing organizationally correct statements about your wonderful experiences as a witness.

That is the biggest load of cr*p I have ever heard.

Parents didn't know the seriousness, 18 or 20 years ago, and the long-term effects.

If we reverse this line of reasoning, this means that:

If there are no long-term effects then child molestation is not very serious?

This is wrong!!!! This pisses me off. The Watchtower should be ashamed to have that on their Website.

After reading this thread, it occurred to me that the Watchtower organization is so obsessed with suppressing it's members individuality (no individual opinions, no birthdays, no mothers day, etc...), that they cannot show a the slightest empathy toward those that have been hurt by their stupidity. Concern for the individual members is impossible from this d*mn Organization.

Have your prayers changed?

this is a sort of follow up to "jesus- ignored, forgotten & unemployed at wts" posted by metatron.. it strikes me, that since i have re-appraised many of my religious views that my prayers have changed significantly.

and whilst i am still an active jw, i have wondered whether my family has noticed, though they have not said anything so far.. jws prayers are not only very stereotyped (despite what jesus admonition about not using the same words, or by extension the same thoughts, over and over again) but also extremely introverted towards the watchtower society.. for example, a typical congregation prayer will include the following thoughts;.

1. bless our congregation.

Micheal the ArcAngel/Jesus the man

i understand that a lot believe that micheal and jesus are one in the same some believe that jehovah and jesus are one in the same some believe that one is the son of god yadda yadda yadda.. would some of you please address or post your reasons for believing that micheal the arc angel was not gods first creation and why he couldn't be the one sent to us to be born as a man and become our savyor?

why would he not have another name fitting his role as a man on earth?

he obviously wouldn't be living on earth as a child growing up as an angel.

i am a new poster who is putting off their own personal story of finding this site for a while..... i find alot of people here utterly fascinating, and would like to know..... exactly what is everyones professional field of work?.

i would like to be a full time poster on this forum, but alas, the $$$$ are quite light in that field of work.. apologies if this has been asked before.. just curious.

From what I remember, when placing literature at the door, they state that "The World Wide Work is supported by voluntary contributions". (Witness is then suppose to extend hand at this point for those who don't get this subtle hint) (just kidding). One of the brothers I studied with also made the same statement while he was working the magazine counter when I was getting the 1995 Watchtower library. (Witness is then suppose to point to the contribution box). I was fairly new at the time so he informed me that he was required to do this on more expensive items.

One thing that always got me was that Witnesses always stress the fact that they don't pass a collection plate in their services.

Isn't going door to door asking for donations, kind of like taking a collection plate to all of their neighbor's house?

I never thought about it, but if the Watchtower is so interested in worldwide Bible education, then why don't they have an online version of the NWT?

I needed to quote several verses from the NWT, but my 1995 Watchtower Library doesn't seem to work. It looks like the only choice I have is to find a Witness and come up with the required voluntary donation for a new CD.
