I wonder how her tourette's syndrome works out for her when she is at the meetings. It must be difficult for her if she experiences tics while at meetings.

i like her videos about self-injury and other mental and physical problems, that could happened to young people.... she say that she is an active jw and regularly visit the meetings and go to service.. http://www.youtube.com/user/idranktheseawater.
but... what can you say about her wearing and hair style?.
it's cool, but it's "non-spiritual" style, not for "true" jw, isn't it ?!

or so says ronald weinland;.
may 27, 2012april 29, 2012. as readers of this site know, may 27, 2012, is the time that i have stated as being the date jesus christ will return as king of kings over all government on this earth.
for such an event to come to pass, the trumpets of revelation must all sound, the united states and dollar collapse, the ten nations of europe arise to fulfill the final revival of the holy roman empire, and russia with china must unite against europe in wwiii.. .... http://www.ronaldweinland.com/.
I scanned his latest book, but couldn't find any specific dates. It's surprising how much it sounds like Witness drivel though. A lot of emphasis on the 144000 (I think they believe that these are/were members of the “Church of God”).
Witnesses got an honorable mention about half way through, in reference to the Trinity doctrine.

I thought that the "Church of God" was all but done.
Anyway, it will be interesting to watch this date come and go.

hello everybody.. i wanted to share something with you all about something that happened to me last night.. i usually get these things called sleep paralysis, which is where you are alseep and you wake up and you think, oh ill get up now or soemthing, so you go to get up and you cant.. your actually paralysed.
but the strange thign is your awake....?
its very very hard to explain.
I've had Sleep paralysis for at least 20 years now. It happens so often that when I can finally move I usually just roll over and go back to sleep. I often vaguely remember that it happened by the next morning. I've sometimes had as many as 3 episodes in one night.
I've noticed that it occurs most often while lying on my back especially in the middle of the night after rolling over to reposition during sleep. I think what actually happens is that I wake up just enough to roll over and after settling back to continue sleeping, I realize that I am awake. I then try to move and cannot. Usually panic sets in when I realize that my breathing is very shallow and I am not able to control it. It seems like an eternity, but usually I am able to move within about 10 or 15 seconds.
I've had episodes where I could open my eyes and look around, but this rarely happens. Another thing that I've noticed is that I will not be able to make out conversations on TV if my wife happens to be watching something when I have an episode. Its like the sound starts out unintelligible and I slowly realize that it is conversation and begin to understand what is being said.

i am an atheist.
i arrived at this juncture in my life despite not wanting to.
when i first met the witnesses at 22 i was a seeker looking for answers to the question of life - in other words, prime cult target material.
I'm surprised that the majority of people leaving the JWs don't become atheists. After all, considerable effort is spent discrediting the doctrines of mainstream Christianity.
Once these beliefs are abandoned one simply has to start to question that validity of the Bible. From there the house of cards falls eventually leading the conclusion that God likely does not exist. It’s as if, Witnesses exist in a state of limbo. They've rid themselves of some superstitions, but stop short of taking the final step and throwing it all out.
The WatchTower did not make me an Atheist, but it definitely made me look outside of the box and come to the conclusion that God does not exist.

this question became an off-topic sidetrack in another thread.
i thought it might be worth some debate so posted here .
the debate is basically between mainstream geological understanding of the earth's history and "young earth creationism" in particular with how the evidence relates to the occurrence of a global flood in the recent past.. a couple of points from the yec website www.icr.org are raised as examples in order to kick things off .
Sure it really happened.
All life on earth was brought to the brink of extinction, stuck in a boat for a year, and then miraculously recovered on earth that had been entirely covered with flood waters for the same period of time.
What’s not to believe?

those who have lived with the opposite sex know of the frustration of being lectured about some triviality.. the toilet seat/paper controversy is among the most inflammatory.. men who forget to put the toilet seat back down inspire anger, rage, resentment and the stern lecture.. the easiest solution is to train the man to always sit down when he goes.. .
others argue over the direction of the toilet paper: forward overlap or backward underlap.. .
how do you deal with these issues and how violent do you become?.
Maybe women should put the seat up when they are done just to make sure men don't pee on it.

sometimes my computer speakers get a thumping/drumming noise that sounds like horses galloping.
very rhythmic.
it lasts a few seconds.
Cellphones transmit data just before they ring, but they will often transmit data even when they appear to be idle. So, just because your cellphone did not ring, don't rule it out as the source of the noise in the speakers.
To see if it is the source of the noise, put it near your computer and have someone call it. While you are using it, it should also cause the same noise if you are near enough to the speakers, or speaker wires.

so, i recently finished reading "the god delusion" by richard dawkins.
i read it with a certain amount of hesitation.
after all, i am still recovering from my disappointment at realizing that the wts is not god's organization.
An example of a law of science is the law of gravity. Using the law of gravity, we can predict how fast a heavier than air object will fall to the ground given all the factors for the equation. I also believe that there are absolute moral laws. Whereas some laws like those that govern science, and mathematics describe reality, and how things do behave, absolute moral laws 'prescribe' how humans ought to, or ought not to behave.
I'm not sure that "moral laws" can be put in the same group as "laws of science".
As an Atheist, I've always assumed that "moral laws" don't actually exist. Sure, I believe that certain behavior is wrong, but without a God does it really matter what Man does. Society has taught us that certain behavior is unacceptable, so from an Atheist perspective, it is only Man who cares about what Man does. I don't hold Man in such high regard to think that his opinion on human behavior (or morals) should be considered universal laws.
Universal, immaterial, unchanging laws are necessary for rational thinking to be possible. Universal, immaterial, unchanging laws cannot be accounted for if the universe was random or only material in nature.
Apart from "moral laws" (which I don't believe exist), I don't see a problem with "universal, immaterial, unchanging laws" in random or material universe.
