  the problem is that he starts with at best very dubious sources and then he takes this data and treats it as if it is precise and factual.. it is not unusual for many of us to use a frivolous "false precision" in making statements.

  Since there are no figures Bowen should shut up about such figures.

  Two witness principle? This is an ancient legal principle. Physical evidence - DNA, tissue samples, - etc. as presented by an "expert" may be the required second witness. Of course JW's don't have such experts in their congregations. If a parent wishes to pursue that route because they feel they have good cause then that is their choice. If a child can describe some unique feature of an alleged molester that could only be discovered in the process of molestation then that objective evidence becomes a 2nd witness. If it is simply the word of a child against the word of the alleged perpetrator I don't believe you have a case. Serial incidences with the same individual and separate victims may be interpreted as "collusion". If the law doesn't require notification of police for such incidents I believe it should be up to the religious counselors to decide what they want to do. It is the responsibility of "law" to protect the rights of the accused as well as the accuser.

  I don't think any organization of humans have the "truth". But I believe Jehovah's Witnesses are the most exemplary group of Christ Followers on the face of the earth. Jesus didn't say By this all will know that you are my disciples - BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE TRUTH, but that they have love among themselves.

  JW's demonstrate that love. You can blindfold me and drop me out of an airplane anywhere in the world where there are a significant number of JW's and I will have instant family.

  Bill Bowen absolutely cannot establish an accurate picture of how much child molestation is going on among Jehovah's Witnesses.

  He has problems with Watchtower molestation policy. So does an organization have to listen to someone who doesn't like their policy? NO.

  If Bill Bowen has solid evidence that Jehovah's Witnesses are breaking the law then he should follow his own advice and turn this evidence over to law enforcement officials.

  This is a board that says its purpose is to discuss ANYTHING that has to do with JW's. Right?? RIGHT.

  I have come on here to give my views on an evolving situation. The media have picked up this story. I have every right to comment on it.

  Its not my fault that my views are unpopular. I don't have time to address every single argument. I will restrict my defense to my major statements.

  If someone swears at me and calls me a molester, I don't feel I ever have to address their questions unless they apologize for their debased behavior.

  One mans troll is another mans advocate.

  It is not unusual for many of us to use a frivolous "false precision" in making statements. We throw around statements like 90% or three-quarters etc. to make our statements more dramatic. This is not what is going on with Bill Bowens web-page.

  Bill Bowen is making a very serious claim attempting to back it up with data that is supposed to be accurate data but that could only be approximate at best or at least virtually impossible to determine with the accuracy he claims. Because he can't back up his claim with data that support the degree of precision he claims therefore his argument is erroneous.

  Although many on this forum may be ignorant and like to praise Bill Bowen for what he is doing with his smear and lies you can be sure the Watchtower organization is not intimidated or impressed by such tactics.

  Come on Bill. Produce some authentic and verifiable numbers. If you can't name your sources then they are a lie. If you can't produce the documents your claim is utterly false and malicious.

  Bill Bowen isn't going to be disfellowshipped because he addresses the issue of child molestation. He is going to be disfellowshipped because he stoops to the lowest kind of smear methods to bully an organization he no longer wishes to associate with.

  Some are being led to think that the Watchtower is silencing Bill Bowen. Nothing could be further from the truth. Everyone has the right to speak their mind. No-one has the right to be heard. Jehovah's witnesses are merely going to quit listening to Bill. He can speak all he wants. And guess what. Few will listen.

  The comments in this thread betray minds too poisoned by hate to see progress. There is NOTHING the Watchtower can do to please those who are Watchtwoer haters. The Scribes and Pharisees condemned John because he didn't drink and Jesus because he did.

  All the Watchtower did was publish an appropriate reprint of previous information about the subject. You are all blind to your own hypocrisy.

  i went to a dinner party tonight that had about 100 people, all non jws.

  laughter and merriment and a good time was had by all.. these were good honest hard working people who have no clue as to what jws believe or that they are going to be judged according to whether they believe like witnesses do.. it impressed on my mind just how unknown witnesses are and how little people pay any attention to their message.. witnesses think they are the center of the universe.

  There are now that many people in China.

  Dateline must regret putting this story together. The only reason they are going to air it is because they have to justify the time and money spent on the story.

  It doesn't matter how you evaluate the policy. As you know there are also serious problems with the present legal system. Professionals in the field of abuse lack knowledge of how to handle "sin". Many innocent men have gone to jail because they didn't have money to hire competent legal counsel so they have to plea bargain for a lower prison term. And it costs a lot to defend against a molestation charge. Very few lawyers are willing to confront a legal system that is weighted in favor of alleged victims.

  Combine that with problems of false memory and the hysteria that surrounds this issue and I would say that there is no permanent policy in place anywhere that is 100% adequate.

  Who are you to determine what is a good policy. Your policy is simply one of shifting the process to public professionals. This is not a guarantee of "good" management of the situation. Each parent needs to decide what is best for THEIR child.

  You never hear of the many cases the JW's have handled that turned out well. That's the nature of the situation.

  But as I said before having a good policy is still not the answer. You choose to ignore that aspect of the argument.

  One thing is sure. No Bill Bowen is going to impose HIS policy on the organization. No organization of catholics is going to talk the pope into doing away with celibacy so that the priesthood is no longer a freak magnet.

  Larc, you have no intellectual backbone. You like to placate the people in this forum. Well I guess we're all mostly water anyhow.
