lately that’s all i’ve been hearing about!

i’m sick and tired of listening to white people begging for forgiveness simply because they are white.

in a nearby town, a six year old girl asked her mom, “ why don’t we have a black lives matter march here?

Min- perhaps I should have reworded my response as I was reflecting upon another poster’s sentiments. I am not going to give specifics as I am not interested in accusing individual people as racists. The vibe of most of the posts regarding the events revolving around the murder of George Floyd have been disturbing to me. When I read in a different thread that someone did not believe they had just witnessed a murder I was surprised. The very first time I saw that video, as an advanced medical professional it was evident, to me, as they rolled him over to transport him to the ambulance, that he was gone. I realized this before they even announced he was dead.

Instead of “hate black people”, I should have said “resent minorities”. You are right. My bad.

Sad-u-see- I am not a Trump supporter in any way, shape or form but, I agree that white controlled government systems have made life as a minority extremely difficult. Politics and government are full of corruption. Greed and power are huge motivators and corrupt even the most sincere candidates (I do NOT include Trump as a sincere candidate as he has proven himself a misogynist and racist himself).

And I agree with you that many people here do indeed just hate black people and try to justify their ignorance by deflection and gaslighting.

Wow. All I can say reading all of the posts on these threads is, wow. As a group of people who left a cult of mind control where we learned a hatred of things “worldly”, that hatred is so obviously still there, just transferred. To say that White Privilege does not exist is to believe the Flood happened or that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.
20 years ago I dated a black man who was a highly educated engineer. As we spoke on the phone as he waited for a client while sitting in his car, 10!!!!! cop cars surrounded him and pulled their guns out and made get out of his car and get on the ground. I know because he begged me to stay on the phone and listen to it transpire. Once it was proven he was there on business, they showed him the call in message. “Black man in black car with gun”. This would NEVER EVER happen to a white person. Period. EVER.
I KNOW I have white privilege because I also know I have other privileges. I am considered quite beautiful, have blonde hair and green eyes as well as am extremely fit and have a tested IQ of 162. I have made more money than less attractive women doing the VERY SAME jobs. I have even been written up by a less attractive female supervisor for being intimidating to others by being “attractive, confident and fit”. Her words. HR “loved” it.
I am horrified as well as sickened by these perspectives. And the fact that you are so angry over the movement BLM as a whole proves that you indeed KNOW you have white privilege because I don’t see ONE of you wishing you were African American to get THEIR so-called “privileges”.

Memories of Maryland Conventions!

if you were a child during the years of 1960 to 1970, the question isn't; do you remember these conventions?

the question is; how could you forget?

I grew up in Maryland and was baptized at the Crownsville Assembly Hall in 1988. I remember being young when my dad was the Kitchen Overseer and we would get there at 6am or before to start making food, back when the breakfast sandwiches were handmade and lunches were hot (anyone remember the Salisbury steak??). I always felt special because I didn’t need to be 16 to work in the kitchen. I buttered those English muffins with pride and would get first dibs on the freshly delivered doughnuts. I ran around with my friends whose parents also cooked and played hide and seek in the dark assembly hall.

The carpet was red and green plaid-like. I remember the original hall, then the added cafeteria, the updated bathrooms and then the big remodel back in ‘91 or ‘92 where I helped as a regular volunteer of the RBC work crew.

The Cap Center had the best facility for the conventions with the big screens. I loved seeing my friends and would get dressed up because there were so many cute guys to flirt with lol.

I vaguely remember the heat of Laurel Race track but I vividly remember those miserable RFK conventions especially the rainy one where I froze!

Vet Stadium had so many people and it was level 6 where all the single people made the rounds. We had umbrellas and the heat would be awful. The traffic and getting to the hotels over the Walt Whitman Bridge was horrible.

I left MD in 2001 and left the cult 10 years ago. I still have fond memories of the social aspects of the assemblies and conventions.

i support local and state and federal government’s power to safeguard the public.

i wonder is it getting to a point where we will be told we can’t go out anymore, can’t use your phone or computer anymore because of the viruses that we can get, etc.

are we prolonging this virus at all ?

News Reports are "Apostate Lies"

with the most recent investigative news report show entitled "the witnesses" i noticed a number of posters whose family members are pimi refer to such shows as "apostate lies.

" even the governing body (possibly loesch) made such a statement (possibly on jw broadcasting).

i was thinking of how to reply to such a statement.. first, ask "who is the apostate?

All of that is 100% true but if the GB says it’s apostate, the “good” jw won’t watch it and it’s problem solved. I asked my mother to watch it because it was a news story. The venom that came from her mouth at the thought of watching such “lies” was positively caustic.

sooo.... i've been perusing recent topics for a few minutes and seeing pretty much the standard jw fare these days - scandals, abuse, bad behavior, cover ups, bullying, shunning, family splits, torturous extrications from a cult, mind control etc.. i started to try and think of anything the dubs were doing that was actually beneficial to mankind in any way, and i'm struggling.

without being facetious, wtf do they do to make anybody's life better?

help me out here.. pros.

I faded about 10 years ago and truly believe it is a vile cult but I did benefit in one way. I started giving talks at the age of 4. I pioneered (aux and reg) for over 10 years. I gave parts on the school impromptu when people didn't show up. I learned how to speak publicly in front of hundreds of people at assemblies and I learned how to sell a universally unwanted product, religion. I have been able to turn that skill into a lucrative career in medical equipment sales. Now I am selling things that people ACTUALLY need instead of nonsensical gibberish. Cold calling with something useful is amazingly satisfying after decades of peddling crap.

Shaklee and Long Distance Telephone Plans

i just had a random recall about jws and what they used to peddle.. in my area of pennsylvania (usa), there was a brother who used to be the shaklee dealer.. there was also a brother who owned his own landscaping company and sold long distance phone plans.

in fact, i remember 3 brothers who sold lond distance plans.. did anyone else experience these products or others?

Shaklee and long distance were big in MD. Always network marketers just using other jws to make money. They never went outside to other people....just people in the cong. To this day I am uncomfortable trying to network market anything.

Fudging The Numbers JW Style

i know most of us have probably figured this out already, but remember the good old days where you could only count full hours in the ministry?.

then one of the gb get some "new light" from their ass and proclaim that they lovingly will allow people to report 30mins, then even 15mins of time.

this was, supposedly, so that the old and infirm could have a joy in the ministry and report what little they could do.

Back in the early 90's I had a boyfriend who was an ex- bethelite, reg pioneer, MS, son of an elder and member of the building committee who told me he wrote in 90 or more hours no matter what and just put random numbers in the other spaces. It was impossible to live up to all that was expected of him. Good guy.... hope he got out.

Then there were the elder/pioneers who went out from 7am to 2pm 4 days per week and 2hrs on Saturday, counting all the hours while telling everyone else to subtract the meeting for FS and all breaks and lunch. Those guys had their 1000 hours by May so they weren't out much for 3 to 4 months. It was infuriating.

JWs have interesting math skills....must be all that college...
