All of that is 100% true but if the GB says it’s apostate, the “good” jw won’t watch it and it’s problem solved. I asked my mother to watch it because it was a news story. The venom that came from her mouth at the thought of watching such “lies” was positively caustic.

News Reports are "Apostate Lies"
by truth_b_known inwith the most recent investigative news report show entitled "the witnesses" i noticed a number of posters whose family members are pimi refer to such shows as "apostate lies.
" even the governing body (possibly loesch) made such a statement (possibly on jw broadcasting).
i was thinking of how to reply to such a statement.. first, ask "who is the apostate?

Angel's Advocate
by Under No Illusion insooo.... i've been perusing recent topics for a few minutes and seeing pretty much the standard jw fare these days - scandals, abuse, bad behavior, cover ups, bullying, shunning, family splits, torturous extrications from a cult, mind control etc.. i started to try and think of anything the dubs were doing that was actually beneficial to mankind in any way, and i'm struggling.
without being facetious, wtf do they do to make anybody's life better?
help me out here.. pros.

I faded about 10 years ago and truly believe it is a vile cult but I did benefit in one way. I started giving talks at the age of 4. I pioneered (aux and reg) for over 10 years. I gave parts on the school impromptu when people didn't show up. I learned how to speak publicly in front of hundreds of people at assemblies and I learned how to sell a universally unwanted product, religion. I have been able to turn that skill into a lucrative career in medical equipment sales. Now I am selling things that people ACTUALLY need instead of nonsensical gibberish. Cold calling with something useful is amazingly satisfying after decades of peddling crap.

Shaklee and Long Distance Telephone Plans
by Funchback ini just had a random recall about jws and what they used to peddle.. in my area of pennsylvania (usa), there was a brother who used to be the shaklee dealer.. there was also a brother who owned his own landscaping company and sold long distance phone plans.
in fact, i remember 3 brothers who sold lond distance plans.. did anyone else experience these products or others?
just wondering.. brian.

Shaklee and long distance were big in MD. Always network marketers just using other jws to make money. They never went outside to other people....just people in the cong. To this day I am uncomfortable trying to network market anything. -

Fudging The Numbers JW Style
by pale.emperor ini know most of us have probably figured this out already, but remember the good old days where you could only count full hours in the ministry?.
then one of the gb get some "new light" from their ass and proclaim that they lovingly will allow people to report 30mins, then even 15mins of time.
this was, supposedly, so that the old and infirm could have a joy in the ministry and report what little they could do.

Back in the early 90's I had a boyfriend who was an ex- bethelite, reg pioneer, MS, son of an elder and member of the building committee who told me he wrote in 90 or more hours no matter what and just put random numbers in the other spaces. It was impossible to live up to all that was expected of him. Good guy.... hope he got out.
Then there were the elder/pioneers who went out from 7am to 2pm 4 days per week and 2hrs on Saturday, counting all the hours while telling everyone else to subtract the meeting for FS and all breaks and lunch. Those guys had their 1000 hours by May so they weren't out much for 3 to 4 months. It was infuriating.
JWs have interesting math skills....must be all that college...

I feel your pain. I found an invite to their convention in my door today. I think it was the elders who showed up at my door last month. Goody.

Health, fitness and recovery advice
by SecretSlaveClass ini hope this is okay with you simon, but since i've noticed the number of forum members looking to discuss or seek advice on various health issues i thought it would be a good idea to start a thread dedicated to this topic alone.
any discussions or advice on these matters could be put here where any and all would be welcome to jump in with any help they could offer.
i am working on the first questions at the moment taken from the cognac/morpheus weight loss thread.

This is my experience and may not be for everyone. i did a 6 week weight loss challenge last summer and lost 24 lbs. i thought i only needed to lose 15 but the 24 did wonders for my high blood pressure and high cholesterol (and my figure). Perhaps my situation is not typical but this worked and continues to work for me but it requires that i have some self control as well as strong motivation.
After i lost the 24 lbs i felt great and though "what am i going to do next?" i continued my HIIT (high intensity interval training) and realized i wanted more noticeable results. I had changed my eating habits and begun eating healthy proteins, low fats and complex carbs. i noticed such a difference in my life by maintaining good nutrition with an active workout schedule.
My problems began when i began switching careers into sales. i had 2 jobs and was working 70 hours per week...not very conducive to a consistent workout schedule. i decided to hire a trainer 2 days per week in my home as i have a full gym. While my schedule remains extremely busy, i am very diligent about my diet and my workouts despite my crazy hours (some 14-16 hr shifts). I have to change times constantly to correspond with my schedule. Having a home gym is a blessing and a curse as it is convenient but it is not always easy to motivate myself after a 12 or 14 hour day. i have chosen to do what i can without causing exhaustion which means i cannot always do all 5 weekly workouts.
i have a food list that i concentrate on...its not a diet, just a lifestyle change and i eat 6 times per day to make sure i have the calories and protein to sustain my workouts.
i am 43 and am training for a bikini fitness competition in July. It is local just to get my feet wet but over the past several months i realized that even working so many hours, i can squeeze in my workouts more often than not. i am not able to fit them all in but i do my best and i stick to my food plan. i find that i am not interested in eating junk. This took time and effort and determination as well as commitment. Because of this i see amazing results. i love how i look in clothes and even a bikini...a huge plus.
A busy schedule can be a deterrent but it doesn't have to be. i still work 60-70 hrs per week, have a daughter as a single mom and have a 3000 sq ft house to care for as well as a third of an acre. i don't always get it all done and it can be stressful and i do get overwhelmed at times but it can be done. I see amazing things happening with my body and i love it. i can walk down the beach with 20 year olds and not feel a bit of intimidation.
I know how hard it is to fit it all in but fitness is possible. i know not everyone wants to train for bikini competition (those bikinis and heels are actually scaring me...) but it is possible to fit in some effective workouts for more moderate changes.
i wish everyone great success in their endeavors toward better heath and fitness. i don't mind sharing some of the things i have learned along the way so message me if you would like to know :)

Bending Truth - CO Talk - Time and Money Invested
by berrygerry inwatched the bending truth video last week - an essential for those asking "why?
" people join, and why people stay.. the co's talk on inspired truth and inspired error made much reference to habakkuk "not be late.".
and then, they actually verbalized the bending truth video, for those wondering about the delay, and what to do.. "think about how much time and money you have already invested in serving jehovah.

Survey: How long were you in the cult vs what year you were baptized
by ILoveTTATT2 inhi people,.
i want as much data as possible on the effect of the internet on the time captured by the cult.. please answer the three following questions about yourself or about someone you know (for example, if your parents or grandparents were jw's and left).
1) were you raised as a jw, or did you convert?.
-
joyfulfader
1) Raised
2) baptized in 1988 at 16 (because i thought i had no option)
3) 2011 (August 2011 was last meeting. never went back after a couple of years of serious doubt)
23 years baptized but whole life until 39 trapped. 4 years of amazing freedom!
My exit was 99% due to what i saw and experienced over the years as opposed to the internet sparking it. Once i was out, the internet solidified my choice and continues to help in the evolution of my beliefs. Had i the guts years ago to search the internet i may have left much sooner.

G.B. & J.W.'s Becoming Clap-Happy

I remember my last convention 2011...I was "waking up" and an experience was given by a young man who decided to up and quit his job to pioneer. When asked how he supported himself one of the main ways he mentioned was relying on the "generosity of the friends". I remember getting this bewildered look on my face as witnesses around me applauded furiously. I felt ill and embarrassed that such a thing was being applauded!! I sat there looking at those around me incredulously murmuring "Seriously????" I don't think I applauded ever again. It was just another nail in the coffin. Applause for using others. Ridiculous. -

POF creeped me out although my friend met her husband of that site. I have tried other online dating services but just don't like that method. It's fun for a while with all of the attention but then it gets overwhelming for me. I did date a nice guy for several months but distance and his weird schedule were a problem. I don't know if I could stand to read the responses to your fake ad Kate lol
