  i just got a major shock.

  i can't believe the new levels of cruelty possible within families who are jws.. a friend on this board who i've known since i was a baby practically has managed to get me a picture of my little sister who i haven't seen for 8 years - the one who i've mentioned my dad said was working on the bethel quick build team.

  Feel free to swear and rant away at/to us all.

  I still don't think you'll acheive anything by railing at him/them. He'll just report your reaction to your sister, and I suspect that that will be the reaction they are looking for.

  Glad you enjoyed the cheque bit Enigma!

  I'm not saying Crumpet should say anything untrue or dishonest. I'm sure she IS pleased for her sister.

  But she doesn't have to reveal her feelings/hurt. They're COUNTING on her doing that. It's feeding the Trolls. And they definitely won't stop if they know they're tactics work.

  That's what I meant about not playing their game (might be too late depending on what u put in the text)

  If you said " Hey that's really FANTASTIC news, I am so pleased for her/them, It really made my day hearing that. Could you pass on my best wishes and regards?" they won't know what to think or how to react.

  If they know that your really mad and hurt, he'll be on the phone to everyone letting them know that their plan worked

  Even if your card doesn't get forwarded it'll get opened. Put a cheque in it as a present - just to see if they cash it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (See I'm human after all!)

  I need help with a discussion with my parents!

  my parents are on the circuit, well educated, well intentioned and totally committed to the wts.

  for years i have argued with them over issues and doctrine.

  they know most things that are wrong with the wts but refuse to budge on the idea that it is the only true religion.

  ask them what WOULD prove to them that it wasn't the one true religion.

  And if God was trying to tell them that it wasn't how would he do it?

  And ask them, if it turned out at the "end" that it wasn't the "One True Religion" would they expect God to destroy them or to look into their hearts and judge them on the basis of what he saw within.

  I'd send her the card.

  TELL her that you've only just heard. Tell her you love her and wish her every happiness.

  If you play their game you'll give them the satisfaction of letting them know it worked.

  They KNEW you'd find out sooner or later. They WANTED you to find out eventually through the grapevine.

  Act in the one way they don't want you to.

  Act in a Christian manner. Thats the "knife" you should insert

  DONT do the newspaper thing or anything else like it.

  It'll only make things worse and confirm/re-inforce in their minds the way that they view you.

  Your "love 'em to death" idea is much better tho i don't know when you'd get the chance to do it

  Revenge is a dish best not served at all. I know it's hard. From an extended JW family myself (oldest of 8) and their behaviour is inconsistent and hurtful but anything you do which fuels it won't help.

  Much better to sound off to us lot. I know Cordelia will understand (just from reading her threads)

  yet, the back cover of awake!

  and watchtower's are full of people who "return lost items.".
