Hi Katie
Is your mum still a JW?
Did you get to Iceland (everyone else just talk amongst yourselves!)
my mum showed me this e-mail her jw friend had sent her last week.. in it the friend explained how wonderful the magazines are and how they provide food at the proper time because they had recently had an article in about ' being prepared for the unexpected'.
the article had told them to have a bag packed with emergency stuff in case they ever needed to leave the house in a hurry.
so they were told to pack dried food, a wallet with important documents in, waterproof clothing etc.. now this, it seems, was pretty relevant because i live in gloucester where were had terrible floods a few weeks ago, and some peoples houses were flooded out, the entire city had its water cut off for a fortnight because the pumping station flooded, and most work places were unable to allow staff in because they were not able to provide flushing toilets or running water.. so my mims friend was totally blown away by how jehovah is so clever - although having dried food and your passport in a waterproof wallet did nothing to help you flush the toilet for a fortnight.. but - now heres to point of this long and rambling story - i suddenly got super angry about this article and its survivialist mentalilty.

has anyone else heard this?
(apologies if this has already been discussed).
my inactive mum has an active jw friend with an elder husband.
Hiya!
It's true . . .you should come here more often

yeah looks like they will have to settle for the champions league now.
You know Tij most Utd fans view this as a genuine cup competition with loads of genuine competition and not a "must win competition"
Most would prefer the Premiership any day of the week!
The winners are often not the best (as in most consistent) team in Europe or even in their own country, but it's all about "on the day" performances.
I can't see how any team can "concentrate on the Champions league cos it can be all over in 90 mins due to a bad performance or a inopportune series of injuries or suspensions.

As a fanatical Red, the most annoying thing about this "Worst start since '92" is that Utd have battered all three teams they've played so far and only got 2 pts and 1 goal.
Van Nistelroy would have scored 6 by now
i'll start.. i love the jerky boys and "prank" candid camera/punked types of humor.. i also love r&b, soul, funk and disco.. now what can you tell us about yourself that we might've never guessed?.
I can do the rubix cube.
Usually in about a minute and a half.
before god began creating.......he wasn't a creator.. before god began creating.....there was nothing......and therefore nothing to know.. before god began creating...there was nothing and nothing to know....and therefore nothing to love.. before god began creating...he was alone with nothing to distinguish him from nothingness except--what?

filled with what, actually?.
This would be one reason why some choose to beleive that the minimum number of persons needed to make a godhead would be three. It would take one to give, one to receive and one to observe and objectify so that the statement could be made "God is love". Again I'm applying the term "God" to refer to the substance rather than the individual person[s].
Little Toe understands perfectly.
So do I.
I am making a very clear distinction between "God/Creator" as a desciption of an Eternal Being's title/role/actions and "God" as the nature/substance of the Eternal being.
2.The religious definitions of God are quite specific. (Eternal, All-Powerful, Omniscient, Creator, etc.)
You said you didn't want to have a discussion which was umbilically linked to a book of fairy tales (or words to that effect)
6.I took the definitions about God and placed them in a very specific context: pre-creation and asked how God could match those definitions JUST BEFORE He began creating.
No you didn't. You said that Eternity before creation proves the non-existence of God.
Were you actually saying that eternity before creation proves that God hasn't always been a "Creator"? IF SO I'D AGREE
That is an extraordinarily lucid and specific set of circumstances. My conclusion was that God ceases to be describable as God if He has not yet created anything. Then, I offered for consideration the idea that a pre-creation God wasn't God at all. Consequently, the God we all (think we) know could not exist pre-creation.
So you are saying that he didn't exist as in "void - never there" or didn't exist in the form/role of God/creator but exists as a being?
To be "God" requires an observer who is NOT God. Otherwise, God is just merely an "only" and not comparatively greater than someone/something else.
Wait wait . . . it's becoming clearer . . .
You ARE saying he WOULD exist as an "only"
THAT'S WHAT OTHERS HERE ARE SAYING.
Sorry thought you were saying he COULDN'T (in the realms of possibility) exist as a being.
ONE LAST THING.
In my first post I said that I didn't know you.
I DO NOW. YOU ARE OBNOXIOUS. FOR PROOF SEE THE END OF THIS POST.
STILL IT HAS TRULY BEEN AN ENLIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. I NOW SEE THE LIGHT THROUGH YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM
AND I WILL NOT ENGAGE WITH ANYONE WHO POSTS THE BELOW
I feel like a dance instructor with a quadraplegic class.

You have gone very quiet on this thread.
Are you conceding that, regardless of other lines of arguement you may have for the non-existence of God, this one is actually very weak if not fatally flawed?
Eternity before creation does not mean that an Eternal Being could not exist.
It means that an Eternal Being possibly hasn't created eternally.
However there is a further possibility.
An action performed in eternity or an "eternally performed" action.
For example if you asked an Eternal Being what it's first thought was, could it reply "I have always thought"
And if you asked an Eternal Being what it's first action was, could it reply "I have always been active"
If that is possible then you're initial post doesn't hold any water.

Are there no opinions here on the possibility of the existence of an Eternal Being?
in the pictures of lala land (paradise earth), why are all the people the same height?
where are the tall people?
did they get zapped because they had an elevated opinion of themselves?
I want to know "where's the whole industry behind the manufacture of plastic beach balls"
Or do they grow them organically in paradise?
is it wtbs of great britain, ibsa or some other entity?
or are they appointed by a us based incorporation?
cheers .
Hi Enjoying Freedom!
Having a nice first day
Personally I agree but I've said to Besty and Sweetpea that we all have to find the closure that is right for us - and I totally respect and support whatever route they choose.
That said The Pubsinger Family are going to stay with Mrs and Mrs SweetBestyPeas and their Podlets at the end of the month.
However if they get DF'd we may have to shun them
(The shunning wont apply to any stray alcohol they need drinking to avoid it going off - personally I agree with the "not eating with such a person" bit but anyone who attempts to extend that to "drinking with such a man" is adding to the Inspired Word and needs pointing in the general Gehenna direction)
