The Bible - God's Word or Man's? - What Convinces You?
by sweet pea inhaving believed the whole bible, hook, line and sinker all these years i get the impression many of you have come to the conclusion that we should take it with a pinch of salt and not hold to it so dogmatically.
and some possibly believe in it just as much as you did when you were a witness.
to save me some time please, lovely people, as i am very lazy - could you share with me why you do or don't believe in it - what evidence there is either way and if there are any particular books that you found helpful in coming to your conclusions?

Classic "answer a different question" coming up LOL
I believe God speaks in different ways at different times.
I believe that there can be some benefit in a "word for a different time"
I believe that when Jesus instigated the "New Covenant" lots of things changed - including God's principle means of communication.
I believe that it is possible to "connect" with God
I don't rule out God "connecting" with/through other faiths.
I believe that it would be possible to connect with God and never come across a Bible.
Therefore I don't base my faith on scripture alone/totally.
My experience of connection definitely weights my views.
My relationships are no longer dependant on shared belief.

People You Wouldn't Mind See Going
by minimus incertain people are in positions that can affect us.
certain family members or jws can make our lives miserable.. some politicians, we would be happy to see them or at least their terms expire.. certain sports figures, religious leaders, actors, and other types cold be on our "wish list" to get out of our brains.. can you think of anyone that you wouldn't mind ever hearing about again??

UK Independent Blood Article - 12% JW willing to accept blood
by skeeter1 inhttp://news.independent.co.uk/uk/this_britain/article3149957.ece.
religion: another sacrifice paid in blood.
as sect's transfusion ban claims a mother's life, ex-member recalls her brush with deathby susie mesurepublished: 11 november 2007 for rachel underhill, a 32-year-old mother of two, the news that emma gough, a jehovah's witness, had died last month after refusing a potentially life-saving blood transfusion following the difficult birth of her twins, brought back memories of her own near-death experience in the operating theatre.

I'm with BluesBrother on this one.
I liked the article when I read it at the weekend.
But that statement is as bad as any the WT puts in it's rag.
Evidently a study suggested that 12% of JWs would accept a blood transfusion . . . and 29% also liked cheesecake . . .
I wanna see the source . . .
