Ugh. Badly. Single parent here. I only have a 26 mile round trip from home to work, but when I change schedules later this month it will be 5 days a week, at least.Grrr. Which means my small raise will be about worthless.

It's killing us because the price of everything seems to be tied to fuel prices. We live in rural Alabama, where there is no public transportation. It costs more just to get to work. Couple that with the price of food steadily climbing. Wages stagnant. We are drowning.
(btw, I have a Saturn which gets 40mph, hubby has an small S-10 pick-up)

For Christmas, I'll be buying local. Instead of driving 70 miles to the "big city." I'm expecting our bonus to not be that great this year either.

I try to ride the bus everyday. I hate it, but it does conserve the gasoline. It puts a huge damper on my wallet, and available money. Its really hard being single and owning your own house, and trying to keep all the bills paid. I need a room mate but I don't have the space or patience for one unfortunately.

I don't even want to think about Christmas. We've been scrambling our budget around to figure out what we'll be able to get for the kids. Hubby gets a bonus but it is taxed heavily.
We too, buy more locally. That is probably a good thing though.

Today I paid £1.02 pr litre for unleaded petrol - that is about 9$ per gallon

Doesn't affect me at all. I can personally afford the pathetic waste of money, but it still bothers me.
I feel it has gotten to a point where people are not as outraged as they once were, accepting the price and continue on with their lives.
I drive a Honda! Honda is the only cult I will participate in!
