  i told my son that the society is reducing the size of their public edition from 32 pages to 16 pages.

  he asked if they will now call it "half awake!".

  of course, it could be "half asleep!

  jookbeard, I say we go picket their conventions with sandwich boards saying religion is a snare and a racket. Funny how they can point the finger at other religions and everything they point at can be used right back at them.

  Reduced Magazines Etc: Scenario Thinking

  forgive me for creating this thread but i believe there are aspects of watchtower downsizing that have not been fully understood or 'fleshed out'.. for example: you have a publishing company whose main source of revenues are book and magazine production and sales.

  their international presence is supported by the profits they make on these.

  so far, so good.... overtime, their products fail to sell.

  So a few years back, they dropped publishing of the Awake down from 2 to 1 a month. And 1 watchtower was transferred to a study edition instead. Now they cut the other WT and Awake that are placed with householders down from 32 pages to 16. So, it used to be 4 mags of 32 pages a month, total of 128 pages, that would get put in the hands of interested ones and now its 2 mags of 16 pages a month, total of 32 pages. Yeah, sounds like Armageddon's right around the corner, need to get as much info to the wicked ones to turn their ways. Anyone know if they're cutting down on publishing other materials like brochures and books as such? Are they just going to let the witnesses hand used books around to each other and tell them to waste not, what not? heh.

  The Great Watchtower Internet Retreat

  there has been a lot of talk about the new watchtower internet strategy.

  it appears that the watchtower is trying to improve their internet presence.

  this could be true, but i think there are good reasons to think that the opposite might be the case.. i suspect that this new internet announcement was primarily designed to draw attention away from the announcement that they are cutting down on the printing of the magazines again.. they are basically dropping two of their websites and redesigning a website on a url that has the lowest rating of the three.

  They're just alienating themselves even more. This is the information age, if you want to find out something on any topic you google it. Ex-jw sites will pop up and even though jws are told to stay away from those sites, anyone on the outside trying to look in has not been told or warned to not look at these other sites. It would be ridiculous for a jw to go to someone's door, strike up a conversation, reference the jw.org site before leaving and then tell the householder to avoid at all costs these other sites that say bad things. And this householder could easily forget the website's name or misplace the publication that had it mentioned on it. "Oh, I'll just google jehovah witness." Very interested to see how this plays out.
