Just FYI
Silentlambs has a list of towns where alleged Jehovah's Witness sex offenders were reported to silentlambs. My town was listed.
I wrote to silentlambs:
"I was looking at the list of cities where alleged sex offenders were reported to silentlambs to see if anyone was reported in my town. I would like to know why there are no names? It would be more helpful if one could actually know who these sex offenders are. "
This is the answer I got:
"Thank you for writing Silentlambs and we hope the list is helpful. The reason names are not used is due to legal reasons. I some cases the molester was not convicted for various reasons, in others investigations
were underway. In many cases allegations are hard to prove but that does not mean that they are not true. If we published every random name we were given it could cause litigation issues or perhaps impede a police
investigation. For those reasons we simply list the community to help the public and members to be aware".

Now you tell me, how is that supposed to really help me? I already know I should be aware of child molesters. The WT has published a multitude of articles on that subject. The point is, if Bill Bowen won't disclose the names of these child molesters,(although he knows them) for the reasons he specifies, then why can you not understand that the WT does not disclose the names for the very same reasons??

@stronghaiku 'll make it clearer, child rape is a crime and is NOT dependent on where it occurred and it is NOT an internal matter.
I am with you 100%. That is why, and I am repeating myself, parents will go to the authorities (police) to report that crime. Elders will advise parents to go to the police if they themselves are not mandated to report.

Nope. Not their call.
That judgement should be reserved for law enforcement and prosecution.
How do you know that WT do not base their judgement on what law enforcement has said about the perpetrator and on history of prosecution? What else do you think they can base their judgment on??? Logically??

If the parents of a child who they suspect has been molested by a member of the congregation choose to go to the elders to report the perpetrator, there is nothing and nobody stopping them from going to the police at the same time. Some parents may not even go to the elders but straight to the police. After all, they are reporting a suspected crime, not merely a sin. They have every right to do so without question, I mean duh!

@Finkelstein However, if there is a known predator in the congregation the parents of all minor children are discreetly informed of who he/she is.

sir82, you are being illogical. Why would WT insist on the innocence of a convicted criminal? Of course they would not.
Still waiting to see evidence for your assertion that "most of the time" the police are unable to prosecute if there are not 2 eyewitnesses.
I never said literal eyewitnesses, you implied that. The elders can hold to that Bible principle, they are not the police with other means of investigation. The elders can only go thus far. The rest is up to the police. And yes, if the police find no proof then they can't do anything. Even in the case of Kendrick, where Kendrick confessed, and where the wife and step daughter went to the police, the police didn't do anything. And neither did the child protective services.

@sir82, no,they don't have to be literal eyewitnesses. If forensic proof was produced by the police, do you think the WT would insist on the accused ones innocence!??

Standing by while an admitted child molester marries a woman with children and threatening the victim's mother for being concerned and warning the woman he married. (Personal kowledge of this on).
So, this is the only one you have personal knowledge of.
Apart from the two witness rule, How can you be so sure about the others?????
You just don't know. Just like I don't know what Candace's motives were and why she agreed to a settlement, as sir82 would like to remind me.

Are you saying that police also rely on a "2 witness rule", instead of, oh, say, rape kits, forensic evidence, criminal records, etc.?
Yes they are, since those things are considered "witnesses" as in they are additional proof (they don't have to be people). So if the rape kit, forensic evidence, criminal record shows up nothing, guess what, the police can't do a jot!
