Also want to clarify that the "spirit" is the memories and personality that make a person unique, that make you YOU.

Resurrection, Reconstruction? What is it? It never made sense to me. Your opinion.
by Wasanelder Once ini never had much faith in whatever resurrection was.
what appealed to me about jw doctrines was the rejection of the "it's a mystery" defense of the indefensible.
when i would ask how going into non existence could be reversed when all the atomic parts of who we are had been scattered for thousands of years, the answer was "jehovah can do anything".

The scriptures say when a person dies their "spirit" goes back to God. (Not the same as soul as the spirit without a body has no consciousness). But you re-create that body, and put back that "spirit" and it can be conscious again. With all the same memories, including the point of death, so to all intents and purposes it's you, as those memories are unique only to you. The spirit cannot be conscious outside a body. Those who have a heavenly hope have a "invisible spirit body" just like other spirit creatures because flesh and blood cannot survive outside the earth. So that "spirit" that makes us US, can be conscious in either a fleshly body or a spirit body.
Jesus called death "sleep" because of the unconsciousness factor. When you die you (your spirit) is unconscious, when your body is recreated (or you are given a spirit body if going to heaven) your spirit becomes conscious again.

Weekly Meeting Importance Being Reduced - Your Thoughts?
by JWTom ini am pimo, but now have 40+ years of being a jw as i was raised in a 3rd generation family of witnesses and continue to fake my way through things - fading as i can.. for the vast majority of my time as a jw, the meetings were the central focus for all jws to get teaching, association, information and so on.
nothing was more important than being at the meetings!
over the last 20 years starting with the elimination of the weekly book study in homes and continuing down to today - my opinion is that the value/purpose of the weekly meetings continues to be diluted or minimized.

"The cart "Witnessing" and directing the public to JW.org has replaced the door-to-door ministry"
This is not true. The door to door ministry is still done by the majority of publishers.

US Letter Read Sunday 4/26 at Meeting - No KH Use and No Field Service Indefinitely
by JWTom inthere was a letter read sunday at our meeting that mentioned some parts of us are starting to open back up.
however, regardless of things opening up that no kingdom halls should be used for any meetings of any kind.
also, no door-to-door ministry or any form of in-person ministry is allowed.

Who is considered more bizarre?
by incognito2014 injws or mormons.
from a public point of view not from people within the religion as that would be obvious.. examples of extreme beliefs or behaviour would be useful..

@smiddy3
So you're saying all those "millions of gullible" witnesses are trying to get their relatives, friends and loved ones back in so that more money is going in the contribution box??

The fault was not with you obviously but the teacher. Was he an atheist by any chance?
In any case, I don't see anything wrong with the children getting involved in encouraging their neighbors during this stressful time. It looks like the majority of those people appreciated the effort these children put in, unlike your teacher.
Those children are developing a selfless attitude, wanting to help others. Better than getting bored and getting up to no good. My husband is a teacher working from home right now because of the pandemic. He is having to constantly call the parents about missed work etc. and he keeps being told that the children are missbehaving and that they (the parents) don't know what to do with them...
