Resurrection, Reconstruction? What is it? It never made sense to me. Your opinion.
by Wasanelder Once ini never had much faith in whatever resurrection was.
what appealed to me about jw doctrines was the rejection of the "it's a mystery" defense of the indefensible.
when i would ask how going into non existence could be reversed when all the atomic parts of who we are had been scattered for thousands of years, the answer was "jehovah can do anything".

@TD
I wasn't talking exclusively about ethnicity, but more about religious conviction. Jewa became Christians too.

"Why would you kill the only person in history to raise the dead? The answer is....YOU WOULDNT."
You might not, looking at it objectively. But they were blinded by hate. They actually did believe he performed miracles, but they attributed that to Satan. That's how much they hated him.

@hairtrigger
Your argument is based on the assumption that if one Roman saw what happened everything would change. It's a weak argument though. There is no reason why others should believe what one Roman said, or even a bunch of Romans.
Don't forget it was the Jews that wanted Jesus gone at all costs, regardless of any miracles or resurrections. After Jesus' death they would have strongly denied any powers that Jesus had, otherwise it would have made them look like slayers of God's son. And they did deny everything Jesus did, and deny it to this day. No one would have wanted it to be written into history, that the man they killed had performed miracles and brought people back from death. No one would have wanted to be known as a slayer of God's son, the Romans didn't, it wasn't even their battle. It was the Christians that went out and told people what really happened. And the Romans who believed, became Christians. -

"But in WT teaching, a spirit has no personality or memories".
Correct. It cannot have personality or memories without a body.

Also want to clarify that the "spirit" is the memories and personality that make a person unique, that make you YOU.

The scriptures say when a person dies their "spirit" goes back to God. (Not the same as soul as the spirit without a body has no consciousness). But you re-create that body, and put back that "spirit" and it can be conscious again. With all the same memories, including the point of death, so to all intents and purposes it's you, as those memories are unique only to you. The spirit cannot be conscious outside a body. Those who have a heavenly hope have a "invisible spirit body" just like other spirit creatures because flesh and blood cannot survive outside the earth. So that "spirit" that makes us US, can be conscious in either a fleshly body or a spirit body.
Jesus called death "sleep" because of the unconsciousness factor. When you die you (your spirit) is unconscious, when your body is recreated (or you are given a spirit body if going to heaven) your spirit becomes conscious again.
