Why Trolls Start Flame Wars
by Bangalore inwhy trolls start flame wars: swearing and name-calling shut down the ability to think and focus.http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2014/02/trolls-start-flame-wars-swearing-name-calling-web-shuts-ability-think-focus.html.
internet psychology 101psychological studies show that swearing and name-calling in internet discussions shut down our ability to think.. 2 professors of science communication at the university of wisconsin, madison dominique brossard and dietram a. scheufele wrote in the new york times last year:.
in a study published online last month in the journal of computer-mediated communication, we and three colleagues report on an experiment designed to measure what one might call the nasty effect.. we asked 1,183 participants to carefully read a news post on a fictitious blog, explaining the potential risks and benefits of a new technology product called nanosilver.

It's simply God's invisible active force, kinda like wind. No one can see it, and unlike wind, no one can physically feel it. But we're guided by it somehow, except maybe the anointed where they "just know" that they're anointed.
This, of course, is not what the Bible teaches. A few examples:
Acts 8:14-17: When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Sa·mar′i·a had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them; and these went down and prayed for them to get holy spirit. 16 For it had not yet come upon any one of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid their hands on them, and they began to receive holy spirit. (it was apparent to all present)
Acts 8:29: So the spirit said to Philip: “Go over and approach this chariot." (the spirit speaks)
Acts 10:44,45: While Peter was still speaking about these matters, the holy spirit came upon all those hearing the word. And the circumcised believers who had come with Peter were amazed, because the free gift of the holy spirit was being poured out also on people of the nations. (it was apparent to all present)

This will be my de facto answer going forward to the 'you think too much' statement.
"Apparently, you missed the point of Romans 12:1, 2, Hebrews 5:14 and John 4:1."
Rom 12:1, 2: Therefore, I appeal to you by the compassions of God, brothers, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, a sacred service with your power of reason. And stop being molded by this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, so that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Heb 5:14: But solid food belongs to mature people, to those who through use have their powers of discernment trained to distinguish both right and wrong.
John 4:1: Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired statement, but test the inspired statements to see whether they originate with God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. -

Waiting on Jehovah(TM)
by punkofnice ini remember my dear old dad (r.i.p) saying that when he had questions he waited on jehovah(tm) and got the answer later.. for the life of me i can't recall this ever happening to me......... honestly, can anyone actually recall a question that the wbt$ jehovah(tm) cleared up for you?.

I guess the real question is this, for anyone who still believes: why "wait on Jehovah" for an answer if the answer is provided in the Bible in the first place! Doesn't that mean that Jehovah already answered the question? It's more like "wait on WTBTS to catch up with Jehovah".

March of the world powers in DANIEL 2. Proof the Bible is the inspired word of God. Wadda ya think?
by punkofnice in.
how would you answer the jw that says that the vision of daniel predicting world powers into the future (where the toes have no significance according to the wbt$), is proof of the inspired prophecy in the bible?.
could it be that the 'powers' are not actually named and can be interpreted any way you want?.

Could it be that the 'powers' are not actually named and can be interpreted any way you want?
Could be. There's quite a bit of scholarly debate (even non-scholarly) about this supposed march of world powers. The only one we know for sure is the head of gold. It is attributed specifically to Nebuchadnezzar. That may or may not mean Babylon as a whole. Daniel specifically said "you yourself are the head of gold" (vs. 38)
After that, it's anyone's guess. But, what is interesting is that there are FOUR kingdoms listed, not five as JWs would have us think. The generally accepted order: Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome.
vs. 41 says: "And just as you saw the feet and the toes to be partly of clay of a potter and partly of iron, the kingdom will be divided." This is where JWs say that Britain, and by extension, the United States come out of the Roman Empire and thus make up the feet and toes. But, that's not what this verse says. It says "the kingdom." What kingdom? The fourth kingdom.
Then, in verse 44, it says: "In the days of those kings..." What kings? The kings of the fourth kingdom? Or the days of all the kingdoms from Babylon to Rome? Doesn't specify, and doesn't matter. Sometime in there. This is more in line with Christ being given all authority after he was resurrected (Matt 28:18), and Paul referrring to him as king then (1 Tim 6:15: "He is King of those who rule as kings...") -

sect
[ sekt ] noun 1. a body of persons adhering to a particular religious faith; a religious denomination. 2. a group regarded as heretical or as deviating from a generally accepted religious tradition. 3. (in the sociology of religion) a Christian denomination characterized by insistence on strict qualifications for membership, as distinguished from the more inclusive groups called churches. 4. any group, party, or faction united by a specific doctrine or under a doctrinal leader. Titus 1:10,11: As for a man who promotes a sect, reject him after a first and a second admonition, knowing that such a man has deviated from the way and is sinning and is self-condemned. Just sayin'.

The Lord's Evening Meal - How Often?
by Bobcat inthe 12/15/2013 study wt has the article, "this is to be a memorial for you.
" in it, paragraph 7 (on page 18) makes the statement, ".
27 also, he took a cup and, having given thanks, he gave it to them, saying: drink out of it, all of you; 28 for this means my blood of the covenant, which is to be poured out in behalf of many for forgiveness of sins.. (note that matthew's rendition leaves out the "keep doing this .

Reasoning book, page 265 par. 3:
"Jesus did not specifically state how often the Memorial of his death was to be kept. However, he instituted it on the date of the Jewish Passover, which was replaced among his disciples by the Memorial of Christ’s death. The Passover was an annual event, celebrated on Nisan 14. Similarly, the Jewish Festival of Unfermented Cakes, the Festival of Weeks (Pentecost), the Festival of Booths, or Ingathering, and the Day of Atonement were all held once a year."
As was pointed out in comments already, WT's take on it is just WT's take on it. They're not necessarily wrong or right in when they do it. However, something else Christ said may shed a little light. John 6:48-51 was quoted already. Take a look at this part:
48 “I am the bread of life. 49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the wilderness and yet they died. 50 This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever; and for a fact, the bread that I will give is my flesh in behalf of the life of the world.”
Now, ask: how often did they eat manna?
