Will firing the DOs be the first step to a new Watchtower?

against my better judgement, i've decided to share the following as a response to guy pierce passing and the announcement of the elimination of district overseers later this year.. late in january (2014) i got an email from one of my contacts (a fader) who served at bethel for several years, but is no longer at wt hq.

he still has a lot of close contacts within the service department and in other departments at patterson and knows people in all of the ny offices.

i kept this email set aside on a flash drive and haven't shared it with anyone - figuring i'd publish an article about it later this year when i had more time to do it right.

Combining the WT and Awake makes sense. They already ship them with the Awake inside the WT. It's a natural next step... either that or eliminate the Awake altogether. It's kind of a fluff magazine anyway.

Identifying the 144K as symbolic will make lots of JWs rejoice, I believe. It may make some leave, being the final nail in the "truth never changes" coffin. The org will call it a "sifting" and "refining".

All this is interesting. Sam Herd said at our DC two years ago: "This organization's about to ROCK!!!" But he never said what that meant. I guess we're already finding out.

Tell your friends to start reading and analyzing the Watchtower study editions very closely

There are those here on JWN that do that marvelously. This group understand implications of certain phrases far better than the average JW.

Jesus is his earthly name, Michael is his heavenly name

i know this topic has been discussed before on this forum, but as it goes in jw world we need reminders.. co said in his last talk i can't remember the title in speaking about jesus, that when jesus returned to heaven he resumed his name michael.

jesus was his earthly name.. through the entire rest of the bible after his ressurection not one reference is made about this.

case in point----when jesus oh wait michael pulled saul over and talked to him, he introduced his self as jesus.

For JWs, I think it boils down to what appears to be a point they cannot get past: that there are more than just Jehovah and Jesus having positions of authority. Abaddon / Apollyon is "the king of the abyss". Michael is "the archangel", "one of the foremost princes". And so on. Grasping that God may actually have more angels in positions of authority is not something JWs are prepared to face. Good grief... it is described as a "heavenly army" after all (Luke 2:13). Why not have more 'chiefs', 'princes', etc?

Completely impossible, Biblically speaking.

Rev 3:12: ‘The one who conquers—I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will by no means go out from it anymore, and I will write upon him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem that descends out of heaven from my God, and my own new name.

i suppose that would mean it's ok to go eat with unbelievers?.

It actually has been quoted, in a footnote. You CANNOT trust the WT Library CD anymore for finding occurrances of scriptures in publications. It used to be that you could click on the verse number and all the occurrances would appear. This is no longer the case. However, the search itself will yield results. I caught this scripture when it first appeared. Here's the reference:

w12 2/15 p. 30 (footnote): "Eating with unbelievers is not forbidden in the Scriptures.—1 Cor. 10:27."

i got a call the other day, it looks like the gb is telling everyone to contact all inactive ones, let them know they are missed, etc, and to do it within a week.

At our last special assembly day, the DO announced that there's a new program for the CO visit where the CO will meet with the elders on Tuesday night and put together a list of all the inactive ones in the cong and make a special visit to them during the week. This is probably already in place, thus that's why many of you will get calls. It's more formalized now.

100 Years of Rule and the 1/15 WT

first, i cannot believe how dumbed-down and simplistic the writing is now.

we used to have study articles with substance.

the writing style now is for people with slow minds or at the level of junior high students with learning disabilities.

Our conductor totally missed the "Jehovah is King" part and later in the study, when a brother commented on it, the conductor corrected him and said, "you mean Jesus". That was too funny.

Observations About Today's WT Study

5 jesus inspected, refined, and cleansed his followers between 1914-1919. so if they were cleansed why were they still celebrating christmas and birthdays, something they now claim to be unclean?.

6 jesus then appointed a "faithful and discreet: slave.

Today's WT was outrageous in so many respects.

par. 9: "Following this pattern today, Jesus sees to it that all who share in the Kingdom-preaching work receive instructions and have the tools the need to preach effectively. (2 Tim 3:17)"

Can anyone spot the problem with this statement?

par 3: No less than 6 verses refute Jesus being enthroned as King in 1914.

Matt 28:18 - all authority in heaven and earth (spoken after his resurrection)

1 Tim 6:15 - he IS King of those who rule as kings (not "will be King")

Rev 1:5 - the Ruler of the kings of the earth (described as Jesus is introduced to John)

Heb 5:9 - And after he had been made perfect (the footnote in the NWT reference bible on the word "perfect" says: "Or, “after he had been inaugurated (installed; empowered; consecrated to office).” Gr., te·lei·o·theis′. See Le 21:10 ftn. Compare Le 8:33 ftn.")

Eph 1:20 - which he exercised toward Christ when he raised him up from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,

Rev 3:21 - To the one who conquers I will grant to sit down with me on my throne, just as I conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

How they can possibly keep on about Jesus being enthroned in 1914 is beyond my ability to grasp.

So Phar′aoh sent for Joseph, and they brought him quickly from the prison. He shaved and changed his clothes and went in to Phar′aoh.

For real? First of all, this was LONG before the command to not shave. Secondly, after two years in prison, Joseph must have looked pretty ragged. This was out of respect for appearing before Pharaoh. It was all I could do to not show my complete and utter disgust at this twisting of the scriptures. I'm sure my wife picked up on it, though, as this is a hot-button topic for me, showing how JWs DO make rules.
