BTW, when I resigned, I didn't write a letter. Just pulled the COBE aside and told him I was having health difficulties and needed to reliquish my privledges. He was okay with it, and things were quiet for a few weeks. We had the C.O. visit, and the COBE pulled me aside with another brother and explained that they needed to have two elders hear me out. I talked with them for all of two minutes. It was no big deal. I thought it would be harder than it actually was. Maybe that's because our BOE is made up of really good guys. Nobody has an agenda. I really enjoyed working alongside all of them. But, after I learned TTATT, I couldn't go on teaching from the platform.

by committeechairman ini'm considering resigning as an elder.

A friend of mine (non JW) told me about a prayer she had prayed about and it was answered within the hour. I told my mother about it (devout JW) and she asked did she pray outloud. I said yea.. she said well that was Satan manouvering things to make it look like God answered the prayer. I was disgusted with her answer!!!!
Wha....?
So, Jesus' long prayer recorded for us at John 17 was silent?
But when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret. Then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you. - Matt 6:8
Why would Jesus say to go into a private room if all you had to do was pray silently?

Resigning as an elder is a minor thing. Depending on your BOE, it could be just as simple as saying, 'Brothers, I've given this a lot of prayerful consideration. My health isn't doing so well, and while I've been trying to do everything I'm supposed to, I'm finding that I just can't keep up. I realize that I could simply slow down, but after talking to other elders who have been in my situation, most have told me that slowing down doesn't really help much, and that after a month or so, things start picking up again. So, I've decided to resign as an elder. I've enjoyed serving with you brothers and look forward to our continued friendships in the future.'
You only need to talk to two elders on the BOE. One won't cut it. I know.
Oh, and don't offer to give them back the Shepherd book. If they ask for it, fine, but don't offer it.

I pray to the Father through Jesus. "Jehovah" is not his name. That is a name created by a Catholic Month. Notice what this WT article says:
w80 2/1 p. 12:
“The word ‘Jehovah’ does not accurately represent any form of the Name ever used in Hebrew,” says the Preface of the Revised Standard Version. But what word does “accurately represent” the divine name in Hebrew? Some prefer “Yahweh,” others “Yehwah,” others “Jave,” and so on. The problem is that when writing ancient Hebrew only consonants were used, and even experts admit that it is a matter of conjecture as to which vowels made up the complete divine name.
One could also ask those objecting to the form “Jehovah” why they do not object to other names such as “Jesus” or “Peter.” Why do these critics not insist on using the original Greek forms of those names (Iesoús and Petros)? Are these individuals not guilty of applying a double standard in rejecting “Jehovah”?The problem here is that Peter's name didn't need to be made know. But JWs make such a big deal of making God's name known, then REFUSE to use the closest approximation to that name regardless of popularity. They make such a big deal about "restoring God's name", but then actually don't.

Shouldn't the Anointed "KNOW" their fathers NAME??
by bruh2012 inthis past memorial made me wonder:.
if those anointed spirit, bears witness with gods and they say "abba father", at that moment of anointing-- i would think they would know their fathers name -right ??
?.

Yes, since the name of the Father is written on their foreheads (Rev 14:1) Not only should they know it, they should use it. But the JW anointed REFUSE to use God's name. They prefer the more popular name "Jehovah" than what they admit the real name should probably be. See Appendix A5 in the RNWT.

The campaign in August to advertise JW.org will be interesting. They are touting it as the greatest campaign ever. I'd like to see them pull it off in one of the hottest and easily least-supported months of the year (at least in the U.S.)

So Spill the Beans, Brothers: Were There More or Fewer At this Year's Bore-Fest
by steve2 inthe jw date-worshipped memorial has just completed its bleak worldwide commemoration.
that wasn't a dust cloud you saw; it was a millionfold hearts limply beating themselves into another round of great tribulation expectations.
i was knocked into a deep, deep sleep by the imagined experience of being at several thousand consecutive kingdom halls as the platformed drones spat forth the predictable sludge that, once released, hits and stains white clothing and bleach is useless.. we know that memorial attendance worldwide has dipped for two consecutive years since 2011 when it reached a high of 19,374,737 and for the promised land, obama's usa, the all time memorial attendance high was also 2011 when it hit over 2.5million (2,563,518) but shrunk in shame back to 2,502,055 in 2012 and spluttered upwards a handful or two to 2,504,114 last year.. so, what was attendance at the date-obsessed bore-fest this year in your neck of the woods?

Fewer at ours. A 15% drop from last year. Which is strange since our was at an earlier time slot and we had others from other congregations that had a later time slot attending.

I was so peeved at the talk that I didn't listen to that letter at the end. I probably missed it, but it wasn't strewn throughout. During the passing of both the bread and the wine, the speaker remained silent.

Memorial talk fact checking - a story
by 88JM inthis was in the memorial talk here last night, used as an illustration i guess.. i think there is some direction to use an experience like this in the outline, but the story that the speaker told (presented as fact) sounds totally bogus to me, or at best urban legend.. does anyone know if this is actually true?
here is the story the speaker told:.
"some years ago there was a tragic train accident in england, and sadly some lost their lives.

There's a lot to sift through, if anyone wants to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rail_accidents_in_the_United_Kingdom
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Railway_accidents_in_England
I've found stories elsewhere of people acting as human bridges, but none involving a railway accident in England.

Thank goodness no jw.org stuff at our Memorial. However, this bit must have been directly from the outline:
many people say you have to be born again, but just like being born onto this earth, you have no say in it. It is Jehovahs decision to make not ours.
Word-for-word, that's what the speaker said at ours. He also said: "It's entirely possible that this will be our LAST Memorial!"
