Feedback on RC from JW Friendly Site
by konceptual99 inthere has been some comment on the latest rc proceedings on that well know jw friendly site.. one set of posts has been particularly interesting as the poster related their own experience as an abuse victim when they were a child in the congregation.
this of course took courage and the poster deserves no criticism at all for this.
he is, however, still very supportive of the organisation.. this is his latest post:.

This is likely what was being referred to in the Shepherding book (p. 72):

"Report it to the elders if you hear anyone in the congregation talking bad about the GB"
by hardtobeme inlast night and elder gave the bible highlights at the congregation.
he talked about apostasy.
and among other things he said: "report to the elders if you hear anyone in the congregation talking bad about the governing body".

Report it to the elders? Why? What puts the GB on a par with the holy spirit?
"For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come." - Matt 12:32

Why are none of the 'Governing Body' being summoned to any of the abuse commissions?
by GodZoo ini'm not sure if this has been covered but i'm wondering why none of the gb are being requested at or formally summoned to any of the australian abuse commissions or other investigations that are taking place around the world?
they after all are the ones single handedly responsible for making and enforcing all the rules that are the sole cause of all these abuses and problems.. why are they just keeping their silent distance and leaving all the ill-equipped and sadly incompetent local elders exposed to take the full public blast, criticism and humiliation for all that is now being brought out in these investigations?
how are they seemingly able to sit cosy in their ivory tower immune and unaccountable?.

So Jesus said again: “Most truly I say to you, I am the door for the sheep. 8 All those who have come in place of me are thieves and plunderers; but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the door; whoever enters through me will be saved, and that one will go in and out and find pasturage. 10 The thief does not come unless it is to steal and slay and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance. 11 I am the fine shepherd; the fine shepherd surrenders his life in behalf of the sheep. 12 The hired man, who is not a shepherd and to whom the sheep do not belong, sees the wolf coming and abandons the sheep and flees—and the wolf snatches them and scatters them— 13 because he is a hired man and does not care for the sheep. 14 I am the fine shepherd. I know my sheep and my sheep know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I surrender my life in behalf of the sheep.

July 26th Watchtower. Twisted learning
by Lemonp inthe wt study this week made me feel sick!
it is one of the most blatantly un-scriptural articles i have ever seen!
in these paragraphs we see how we should treat our neighbor ... so, what examples do we have of loving our neighbors?

A man in my cong commented that JWs are protected from anxiety if they do everything prescribed for them: meetings, study, prayer, service. This made me angry, knowing that anxiety is NOT prevented from these things. This is just ludicrous. I did a bit of a facepalm when he commented. I hope the conductor caught it. -

Rejecting something due to unscriptural or pagan origins.....?
by stuckinarut2 inso witnesses reject many practices or holidays due to their "unscriptural or pagan" origins.. for example, birthday celebrations, mothers or father's day, christmas etc..... most people in the world will say "but the origin doesn't matter anymore, we follow this custom now because it's a joyful occasion that creates happy times and brings the family together".
it is still firmly rejected.. so, if the wrong origin is so important, and should result in rejecting something, why isn't the same principle applied to the actual jehovah's witness faith itself!?.
after all, the very foundation of the organisation was based on wrong understandings of the bible, far fetched teachings and doctrines, links to false religious backgrounds, pyramidology, false predictions, inaccurate beliefs etc...... using their reasoning, it doesn't matter how good something is now, if the origin was faulty to begin with?

It would be useful to compile a list of unscriptural or pagan things the JW belief system was based on in the beginning. While I've heard rumors and haven't done much research on that topic (mainly because it bores me to tears) it would be useful. This topic is a phenomenally good one and really shows how contradictory JWs are with their own belief system.
I'll start:
Pyramidology - Pyramids were elaborate tombs for Egyptian kings, who were regarded as gods.

Did the society official track each member of the 144,000?
by Bob Loblaw inwhen i left witness land in the early 90's, i remember hearing that out of 144,000 anointed members that there were only 8 to 9 thousand left and then the end will come.. i'm suddenly curious.
the jw organization is one that puts emphasis on tracking, i.e., regular meeting attendance, current standing, field service hours, territory tracking, return visits, etc.
therefore, did the society ever try to track each and every member of the 144,000?

There is a box on every publishers ministry record card to say if you profess to be one of the anointed or not.
While this is true, it is not reported back to the branch, but Elder, MS and Reg Pio are. Go figure. The one statistic they SHOULD be concerned with, they are not. How in the world would two "anointed" people from different parts of the world even know about each other? If those two were standing next to each other at a convention, they would have no idea that the person next to them was their brother/sister in Christ. The thought wouldn't even cross their mind.

Our local RBC tried to get people to go to the KHs in the territory where they lived a few years back. They mapped out where everyone lived and showed by data that some people were driving at least three territories away to attend a congregation. Why? Because they simply couldn't get along with people. So, the RBC figured out that we don't need new KHs. They decided the best approach would be to have the elders take the lead and GO WHERE THEY BELONGED. Guess what? That went over like a lead balloon. One elder very adamantly REFUSED to do so and put the entire thing in jeopardy. The C.O. got involved and the whole thing was dropped.
The RBC was right. We didn't need NEW halls. We needed people to quit being babies and act like real Christians and forgive their brothers and sisters. In the end, it didn't happen.
People shift congregations all the time. It doesn't matter what the branch says. People are going to do what they want to. If congregations merge, expect people to shift again, to another hall somewhere else. That's the nature of it all.

I though it strange to have a lion shown in this picture because when the angel throws the devil into the abyss, he's a dragon. (Rev 20:2)
