Scottish Convention Revelation!
by The Searcher insome circuit overseer gave a talk and made this statement - "jehovah will very soon resurrect millions of people.....".
"soon" is so old hat now - "very soon" will become the new buzz words in j.w.-land..

"Jehovah will very soon resurrect millions of people....."
Let's pick that statement apart, shall we?
First, "Jehovah"
"For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day" - John 6:40
"No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him, and I will resurrect him on the last day" - John 6:44
"Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day" - John 6:54
"Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life" - John 11:25
"because the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first" - 1 Thess 4:16
Next, "will very soon resurrect millions of people"
"And they came to life and ruled as kings with the Christ for 1,000 years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the 1,000 years were ended.) This is the first resurrection." - Rev 20:4,5
According to JW doctrine, the 144,000 are resurrected first. That's not millions. Those may be the only ones that qualify for the "will very soon" portion of that statement. Paul refers to this as "the earlier resurrection"
"to see if at all possible I may attain to the earlier resurrection from the dead." - Phil 3:11

where there was a conflict between the Bible and science, the Bible would prevail, because all scripture is "inspired by God"
by freemindfade inthought i would put this in its own thread.
it another embarrassing statement from the rc (royal commission not regional convention lol).
it's not even one about abuse, its about the jw's stance on science and the bible.

There's a huge gap between women "speaking in the congregation" and women being used to help develop policies that might actually HELP victims of child abuse. The latter is NOT a speaking position, NOR a teaching position. My goodness, even letting them assist when elders are meeting with them to get the facts so they don't have to do it alone in front of men whom they might not be comfortable with... where's the scripture that says they can't do that?
Ok, JWs... YOU stated the scriptures preclude women from these roles. PROVE it. The burden of proof is on the one who makes a statement like this. Prove it to the RC, to us, to the world. Prove it unequivocally. Show us the scripture(s) that state these things such that cannot be interpreted any other way. PROVE IT!!!!!

Feedback on RC from JW Friendly Site
by konceptual99 inthere has been some comment on the latest rc proceedings on that well know jw friendly site.. one set of posts has been particularly interesting as the poster related their own experience as an abuse victim when they were a child in the congregation.
this of course took courage and the poster deserves no criticism at all for this.
he is, however, still very supportive of the organisation.. this is his latest post:.

"Report it to the elders if you hear anyone in the congregation talking bad about the GB"
by hardtobeme inlast night and elder gave the bible highlights at the congregation.
he talked about apostasy.
and among other things he said: "report to the elders if you hear anyone in the congregation talking bad about the governing body".

Report it to the elders? Why? What puts the GB on a par with the holy spirit?
"For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come." - Matt 12:32

Why are none of the 'Governing Body' being summoned to any of the abuse commissions?
by GodZoo ini'm not sure if this has been covered but i'm wondering why none of the gb are being requested at or formally summoned to any of the australian abuse commissions or other investigations that are taking place around the world?
they after all are the ones single handedly responsible for making and enforcing all the rules that are the sole cause of all these abuses and problems.. why are they just keeping their silent distance and leaving all the ill-equipped and sadly incompetent local elders exposed to take the full public blast, criticism and humiliation for all that is now being brought out in these investigations?
how are they seemingly able to sit cosy in their ivory tower immune and unaccountable?.

So Jesus said again: “Most truly I say to you, I am the door for the sheep. 8 All those who have come in place of me are thieves and plunderers; but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the door; whoever enters through me will be saved, and that one will go in and out and find pasturage. 10 The thief does not come unless it is to steal and slay and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance. 11 I am the fine shepherd; the fine shepherd surrenders his life in behalf of the sheep. 12 The hired man, who is not a shepherd and to whom the sheep do not belong, sees the wolf coming and abandons the sheep and flees—and the wolf snatches them and scatters them— 13 because he is a hired man and does not care for the sheep. 14 I am the fine shepherd. I know my sheep and my sheep know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I surrender my life in behalf of the sheep.

July 26th Watchtower. Twisted learning
by Lemonp inthe wt study this week made me feel sick!
it is one of the most blatantly un-scriptural articles i have ever seen!
in these paragraphs we see how we should treat our neighbor ... so, what examples do we have of loving our neighbors?

A man in my cong commented that JWs are protected from anxiety if they do everything prescribed for them: meetings, study, prayer, service. This made me angry, knowing that anxiety is NOT prevented from these things. This is just ludicrous. I did a bit of a facepalm when he commented. I hope the conductor caught it. -

Rejecting something due to unscriptural or pagan origins.....?
by stuckinarut2 inso witnesses reject many practices or holidays due to their "unscriptural or pagan" origins.. for example, birthday celebrations, mothers or father's day, christmas etc..... most people in the world will say "but the origin doesn't matter anymore, we follow this custom now because it's a joyful occasion that creates happy times and brings the family together".
it is still firmly rejected.. so, if the wrong origin is so important, and should result in rejecting something, why isn't the same principle applied to the actual jehovah's witness faith itself!?.
after all, the very foundation of the organisation was based on wrong understandings of the bible, far fetched teachings and doctrines, links to false religious backgrounds, pyramidology, false predictions, inaccurate beliefs etc...... using their reasoning, it doesn't matter how good something is now, if the origin was faulty to begin with?

It would be useful to compile a list of unscriptural or pagan things the JW belief system was based on in the beginning. While I've heard rumors and haven't done much research on that topic (mainly because it bores me to tears) it would be useful. This topic is a phenomenally good one and really shows how contradictory JWs are with their own belief system.
I'll start:
Pyramidology - Pyramids were elaborate tombs for Egyptian kings, who were regarded as gods.
