  Can somebody explain the changes I read in the WT??

  my grandmother asked me to read to her so i asked her what she wanted me to read.

  was the watchtower, but she specfically asked for the one with "the timeline.

  it for a few days and apparently hasn't read up.

  6. WT used to teach that Jesus came invisibly in 1918 or 1919, inspected the Bible Students, chose them and appointed them over all his belongings. This has been abandoned.

  7. WT now teaches that Jesus appointed the Rutherford as the first FDS member in 1919, and appointing them over all his belongings will not happen until he arrives in the future.

  8. WT used to teach that only the anointed were part of the domestics. This has been abandoned. Instead, the domestics are made up of both the anointed and great crowd.

  To clarify, 1914 has NOT been abandoned. The current WT teaching is that Jesus was enthroned as King in 1914 in the heavens, and that is when he cast Satan out of heaven.

  brother of the hawk, newly enlightened & gojira, recorded an elder's meeting on 5/7/03.

  both does a great job of defending me and making the elders look foolish!.

  thank you raypublisher/jj and jwstruggle for the awesome job you did on it.. follow up story was not recorded but we will post it here hopefully over the weekend.. enjoy, it's pretty hilarious how they try to control us and come after me on a work of fiction!.

  I couldn't watch it all... just got the highlights. I CAN say that I was almost kicked out of Bethel years ago for writing something simply with what they viewed as inuendos (e.g. "Hey, Ginny," I said, "stay pretty for later.")... not even swears or actual sexuality. So, this doesn't surprise me.

  As I studied the lesson (and yes, I did, looking up every scripture, looking up the Greek, etc.) it was glaringly obvious that Christ was only mentioned in quoted scriptures. Other than that, there was NO reference to Christ.

  according to the new faithful and discreet slave, christs warning about the evil slave was referring to a hypothetical situation that could never happen.

  the word if proves it.

  mathew 24:48-51 - but if ever that evil slave should say in his heart, my master is delaying, and should start to beat his fellow slaves and should eat and drink with the confirmed drunkards, the master of that slave will come on a day that he does not expect and in an hour that he does not know, and will punish him with the greatest severity and will assign him his part with the hypocrites.

  Interesting. Also, the word "ever" is interesting. "if ever". I remember mom and dad saying, "if you ever do that again...". Didn't matter when. It only had to happen once. In this case, this could have happened already, in the past. It could have been right then in 1914. We don't know. It goes on to say, "should say in his heart", which would indicate an inward feeling / thinking. Some pretty interesting commentaries about this verse here:

  Edit: I was just thinking about the eating and drinking "with the confirmed drunkards" portion of the verse. Rev 17 describes the harlot as "drunk with the blood of the holy ones and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus." Wouldn't joining the UN, even as an NGO, be "eating with the confirmed drunkards"? I dunno... maybe that's a stretch.

  Also, par 15:

  Jesus and his Father take note of

  both our faith and our ministry. (Rev.

  2:19) As the elder quoted in an earlier

  paragraph points out: “The field ministry

  is what we are about.”

  This verse uses the Greek work diakonian (Strong's 1248) for ministry. Some translations render this "service". It carries the idea of service or ministering to others and can, but not exclusively, include preaching. It also includes service to those in need.

  "New light" and BLOOD ...

  i just had a flash in my head.. in the wt 07/2013, the "new light" is basically saying that there was no appointment of a faithful and discrete slave in the christian era until 1919. if this is true, then no "spiritual food at the proper time" was served after jesus' resurrection, for over 1886 years.

  that means that the decree of the "apostles and older men" in jerusalem, recorded in acts 15:24-29, isn't "food at the proper time", and shouldn't be mandatory for christians.

  this includes the order to "abstain from blood".

  Idk, doesn't that run the risk on contradicting "scripture"?

  The point is well-taken. However, consider this:

  Acts, written by Luke, wasn't completed until 61 C.E. (according to WTS). 1 Tim (where we find the "all scripture is inspired..." verse) was completed sometime between 61 and 61 C.E. Thus, it is unlikely that Acts was considered "scripture" by Paul. What we today consider "scripture" wasn't even put together as such until a few hundred years later.

  another poster on here called separation of powers made a profound comment on another thread recently that i thought was worthy of starting a new thread about:.

  "in my opinion, the new light regarding the fds addresses this question, if there was no fds from the 3rd century on until 1918, and yet the article states that there were anointed followers here and there during that almost 2000 years of no fds, then what organization did they follow?

  there was no organization, yet they were anointed per the article.

  Yes, I've been saying this since the "new light" was announced. The "true religion" HAS NOT YET BEEN CHOSEN according to their new doctrine. They're simply appointed to feed as some sort of test, which, if they do that to Christ's satisfaction, THEN he'll appoint them over all their belongings. Thus, they're in some sort of "testing phase".

  John 3:16 - "EXERCISE faith"...??

  the nwt often uses the expression "exercise", when it comes to the expression of faith.. "a notable use of that is in john 3:16 - for god loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.".

  i started to be intrigued by the expression "exercise faith".

  it is true that james wrote that "faith without works is dead", meaning that faith must be more than just an inner feeling or an oral statement; it must be evidenced by works.

  @Searcher... I agree that preaching is necessary, and is a part of faith. However, JWs consider that "works" and thusly do it in a repetitious, very annoying way. Paul did not do that. Just the opposite.
