tootired2care, thanks for the video. Those animals behave too much like humans for my comfort. They are scarey. Nope, I don't think the WTS has thought all of their teaching through. I wouldn't trust these animals in the new

order. They may not have gotten the memo (read the wt) about how they are under our control and are supposed to be nice. I read about the chimp that ate/ripped off a woman's face and hands. I hate those animals. Although I

believe that chimp was acting in accord with his animal instincts, those animals are too dangerous to be around and I don't think they could/would change. I never questioned it when I was a jw, I just accepted it without thinking

about it. I sure don't believe it now and it does not make sense to me anymore.

I feel we (USA) may be on the decline. As has been stated eariler, other empires fell. I don't think we will fall soon, but I don't think we will have the same power if we continue to borrow from other countries and spend more money

that we have. People in South America are younger and hungier, not as spoiled as those in North America. China is becoming more powerful and who knows what is really happening in the Middle East.

" although it is merely speculative at this point, i would like to remind those of you who did attend the 2012 dc this summer about some important evidence that supports this theory.

Why do folks feel it necessary to announce their departure from this board?

but, i've often wondered why folks feel the need to post their departure from this board.

they're free to leave or fade, etc.

I also have wondered why peope announce their departure, but then I thought about how we introduce ourselves when we join JWN or when we meet anyone. Saying goodbye may be a proper thing to do. I left the borg in the late

70's and started a new life. I never had any support from anyone, except my two xjw brothers and one male cousin, who was never baptized. I have had a sucessful entry into the world. I only looked for xjws on the internet

last year. I enjoy this site, first, because I know no one who has never been a jw, esp. a born-in jw, can understand what it is like to grow up in a cult. Second, I have learned a lot here, there are some smart people on

this site and I benefit from their input and their different take on things. I also like the fact that it is an international site. I like knowing what those in other countries think about life, being an xjw, and just reading about their

experiences in the borg and in life in general. I'm sure I will hang around for quite a long time. I hate to see others go, it's like losing a someone in the neighborhood.

11-year-old niece was told by JW grandmother that she shouldn't play in band

i haven't posted here in a while, but i thought this was worth mentioning, and i just wanted to vent about it.. my brother and sister-in-law, who are now divorced, bought my niece a clarinet about a year ago, so she could play in the band at school.

she loves it more than anything in the world.

one day last week, her grandmother found out about this and got all upset about it.

What reasoing did this grandmother use for not wanting her granddaugher to play with the band? Was it because she may have to play a patriotic tune, miss a meeting if she plays at the football games, waste time practicing the

clarinet when she could be out in the fs or studying the wt? What could be wrong about playing in the band? I have never understood this reasoning. It takes disipline to learn how to play an instrument. Learing music and math

takes a lot of brain power. I hope her parents stand up for her and don't allow grandmother to interfere with her playing or being in the band.

I Believe Catholicism And Its Trappings Are Silly, Strange & Weird!!!

my italian friend loves going to the "feasts" that occur in italy, boston or nyc.

these feasts feature a "saint" with dollar bills pinned around her and they parade the saint in a long procession and chant "viva (whomever)".

they are quite serious about this and are proud to talk about the past generations of observers who appreciated the events.

I became a Cathoic a few years after I was df'd. My family had always been Catholic until my parents decided to change religions. One thing I was inpressed with was that when you go to church, you go there to worship, not to

study to prove that you are right and everyone else is wrong. I confess that I don't believe everything they teach, but I don't believe everything anyone tells me. As someone else stated, you can expess your opinion about the

Church without the fear of getting df'd. And, yes, I am aware that the Church has done some horrible things and how they conducted themselves about the pedophiles was also terrible. I think they have changed. I have known

some very good priests. There are good people and bad people everywhere.

My mother used to watch Juia Child on tv back in the 60's. I bought her cookbook years ago and have cooked her roasted chicken for years. I love the movie "Julie and Juia." I happened to be at Barnes and Noble this week and ]

saw a book "Dearie, The Remarkable Life of Julia Child." Of course, I bought it; I have several books about her. I think she was a great woman. I wish I could go to the Smithsonian to see her kitchen, but Alas, I am not able to go.

I am going to cook that chocolate cake. Looks yummy. I did not know until today that she had been born 100 years ago this week. THANK YOU for posting this.
