As 00DAD said, no one. It's a story in the Bible, nothing more. WTS just uses it to control people.

Are you pro-activist, anti-activist, or passive?
by cedars ini ask this question because, having been on this forum for a year now, it's clear to me that there are many shades to so-called "apostasy", and this is particularly evident in the realm of anti-watchtower activism.. when i use the word "activism", likely picketing kingdom halls and conventions springs to mind.
however, activism can be far more subtle than that.
just having a website or a book that sheds light on the flaws of watchtower dogma is really a form of activism - arguably the most effective form at that.

Relating all of this to JWs and the WTS, I can only fall back on what a now departed friend once told me. “Organizations cannot love people. Only people can love other people. The problem many Witnesses have is that they expect a faceless organization to act like a real human being and that is something it is quite incapable of.”
The organization promotes this false thinking with the way it portrays itself. “Faithful and discreet slave”, “spiritual mother”, “Jehovah’s wife” and other images give believers the idea that they can have a personal relationship with the hierarchy and by extension with God himself. That’s because these terms give the image of a real person who is divinely sanctioned. So Witnesses believe their own individual circumstances will be understood and accommodated in the same way another person would. That can’t happen because even appointed overseers have a rulebook they must adhere to which allows little room for individuality. None of the images the organization wants to project are the truth.
The situation is aggravated when grossly unqualified men are appointed to positions of leadership. Given no training in even the rudiments of psychology and counseling, they can’t perform the needed tasks. Overseers buy into the lie that the holy spirit is behind them and so “worldly” knowledge isn’t necessary to be a good shepherd, and that holy spirit will “fill in the blanks” and overcome any deficiencies. The result is the arrogance, stupidity, abuse and mistreatment that characterize so many dealings between overseers and individual Witnesses.
Quendi, these are very good points. I can see that my family thinks this way and perhaps, that was my view also. This view greatly distorts the relationship between the
members of the organization and the GB. The "MOTHER" organiztion is supposed to nurture you and love you in the same way as Jesus loves his sheep. The reality is
not only do they not know or love you, they don't give a damn about you. You, the members, are a number, an unknown slave that is required to follow the rules without
asking questions or complaining or the "Mother" org throws you out with the bathwater. And talk about "unqualified men!" These men are ususally not educated in anything but
jw dogma and they have the gall to judge and tell others how to conduct themselves, what is right and what is wrong. It reminds me of the song by Jonathan Edwards "
Sunshine", 'He can't even run his own life, I"ll be damned if he'll run mine." Although, the borg proclaims love in all their dealings, there is only control, loss of freedom to run
your own life and they don't acknowledge any boundries, all bets are off as far as that is concerened.

I am pro-activist, but only to the point of puting the information out there. If someone asks a question on the forum or brings up a subject that I can contribute to, I give my opinion. I also appreciate those who have spent time
and effort to write atricles that expose the WTS for what they really are. As a life-long and active jw for 40 years, I feel I know the borg and their teachings well. Many members of my famiy are DO,CO, and Bethelites, but I have
never heard any of the inside goings-on that have taken place at HQ. I appreciate what others here who have been in-the-know educate us about. I also like to keep up what is going on now, such as the Conti case.
If it was not for this and other anti-jw sites, such as jwfact, jwsurvey, I would be in the dark about such events. Until I got on this site, I believed everything I read in the Bible, now not so much. I have read books about the
Bible that I found on my own just by going to B&N or Amazon and I have also read many recommended on this site. If not for Winston, the Diary of, I might not have read "Animal House" although I read 1984 in 1962.
The comments on this site cause me to think about things I had not paid too much attention to, such as the water over the earth that caused the flood.I credit my older brother, a former elder who converted the majority of
our extended family to the "truth," for opening my eyes about the borg. It took a while, the borg did a lot to convince me my brother was right about them. Many on here bring up pertient questions and/or subjects that I like to
read about. They help me see that, yes, I was right to leave the borg no matter what my family tells me. I agree that some have to be ready to leave the borg, but having information to ponder on helps jws to see the borg for
what it is, a greedy publishing organization that only wants to control them and use them to get money for themselves. I hope I didn't get off topic. I am a real pro-activist out in the world. Anyone who knows me, is educated on
the evils of the WTS, it's teachings and controlling attitude towards its members.

I remember that when I was just 18, one of my longtime friends (she was 19), who was married to an elder, told me that because my husband was not active in the "truth", the other elder brothers could tell me and counsel me on
whatever they wanted . And, believe me they did! Once the presidieng overseer and my friend's elder husband, took me to the back room and gave me a good talking to because my friend had overheard me ask my older
sister-in-law if I could go to her house for lunch after field service. I was lonely and had only recently left my parent's home. I was not used to being alone, without my mom and younger brothers. Needles to say, I cried all the
way home. These elders were in their forties. That incident is just a small way in which the elders and their wives inserted themselves into my and other's lives. Having been in the borg all my life and my mother always telling me
I had to respect the elders and listen to them, it took me a couple of decades to finally tell them to take this religion and shove it. Those elders did not recognize any boundries. The PO in the cong where I grew up in even told me
that he had given all the names of the young people in our cong to the chief of police in our town with the instructions to call him if any of us did anything wrong, or got into trouble. How's that for overstepping boundries!
