TTATT acronym
by RayPublisher ini think it's about time this get updated so more folks know the other meaning of t.t.a.t.t.
ttatt is an acronym for "the thing around the thing.".
this term, first known to be used by neal thomison around 1998, refers to the meta issues which surround the topic in question.. in designing software, creating art or negotiating contracts often the context and implications of the topic on the history and interrelationships at play is often as significant, if not more significant, that the content of the topic itself.. .

Do you ever just start CRYING for apparently no reason?
by Terry ini spoke to a friend of mine about this not too long ago.. we are "of a certain age".. the subject came up somehow.. .
i'll be watching a tv commercial or i'll see some people in a park or a simple passing thought will suddenly induce a profound.
sense of---well, how to describe it?

Terry, crying releases tension. You have been through quite an ordeal. Infection is hard on the body.
It takes time for the body to regain its equilibrium after being as sick as you were.
Sometimes we are unconsciously worried about something or contemplating something and the
emotion expresses itself in a physical manner. I think it’s a common phenomenon. For the last few
months, I have found myself feeling profoundly sad when I return to work every week.
It has nothing to do with going to work as I love my work. I am at a loss to explain the feeling.
I hope you get to feeling better.

new here, my story
by doingwell ini'm not sure why i felt a need to find this site and write my story about my experiences with the jw religion.
it's been pretty far in my past, but it still had an impact, and maybe i'm just being a bit reflective, having past 40 years of age and expecting my 2nd child next year.
maybe also being reflective having just attended a catholic babtism for my wife's cousin's daughter and seeing organized religion in action again.. my mom became a jw long before i was born - she's in her 80's now.

But, throw in the black and white thinking, finger pointing, demons and threats and it unsettles even the nicest people and creates anger, fear and murder.
When something.....anything...makes you look at most of mankind as "other" than what you are....in fact, Evil or Enemy....that is just plain SICK.
There is a fine line between decent people meeting together to praise what is beautiful and a cult of world haters who insist only they themselves are RIGHT.
You are so correct. I just had a conversation with the only female cousin who was not a jw, she has since decided to become one at the age of 69. The rest of her family have been jws since childhood. She informed me that I would not be welcomed at her home any longer unless I returned to the "truth" which she said I knew was the "truth." She told me that I knew that everything written in the WT was correct information directly from Jehovah because those in Bethel were not smart enough to know all that was printed in the wt. She actually did not know about the FDS and who the borg claims they are or about the GB or the teaching about who has a mediator and who doesn't. Yet, she asserted that they had the "truth" and were the only ones who did. I gave her my reasons for having left and left her with information to look up (conti case + other things). She is recovering from a heart attack so I did not want to agitate her any more than she already was agitating herself. Another one bites the dust! So I am now left with only four brothers, one male cousin (her brother) and one nephew, who do not shun me. I am sad about it, but OH Well, I will survive, with a little help from my friends!

OMG. I hope you are alright. Can you not get a protective order against him. I hope he doesn't know where you live or where either of you work. There is a danger of him confronting you when you are not aware. Please be
careful and contact the police. You can not trust this type of person. You need to do more than fade. I am worried about you.

I agree that different interrpretations of the Bible divide people. No religion/cult is more divisive that JWs. Other, more mainstream religions, are not quite as bad as JWs in denigrating others. When we see each other as people first,
and how we intrerpret the Bible, or don't believe it is even God's word, as only an element/quality of another individual's life, we can see that we have much in common with them. We all need the same things to live a healthful and
productive life. We need self-esteem and a feeling of security to maintain mental health. Although, Jesus did say, in Luke 12:51-53 (NWT) 51. "Do you imagine I came to give peace on the earth? No, indeed, I tell you, but rather
division." I don't think he wanted division among his followers but that's interpretation, so what can I say?

Terry, glad to see you're bacK. I believed the Bible was inerrent until I read "Misquoting Jesus" this year. It was quite a blow for me. It's also interesting that the Catholic Church chose which books would be included in the Bible.
Some early translations were also changed according to who was doing the translating. The books have been essentialy translated correctly but there have been additions and changes according to some translater's interrpretation.

Thank you, designs. Nursing is hard and stressful but it's also rewarding. Hospice is so important in dealing with end-of-life issues. I feel it takes caring and sensitive people to do that. I salute your wife's friend.
It beats going d2d telling people that the big "A" is "staring us in the face." Now that is just a waste of precious time.

Glander, I'm having a Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay/ AVANT, with a pizza from Dominos that I had delivered; too tired to cook tonight. Grilled Sea Bass planned for tomorrow.
designs, Chavez is a hero of mine. He did alot for the Cali farm workers. It takes quite a person to devote his/her life for the benefit of others. I even liked Jimmy Hoffa. Unions are needed and were good until others, who are not
looking our for the workers, took over.
