Pronouncing it RIGHT
by Christ Alone inwhat rules do you follow when pronouncing foreign names/places/things?
i was remembering that when we were studying the daniel book for the book study back in the day, someone released a pronunciation guide.
i remember studying it closely so i could pronounce all the names right (especially on the section of daniel 11).

1975 - A weak argument?
by Christ Alone ini posted this on an older thread, but i wanted to get an honest opinion about this from all of you.
i think taking the 1975 approach with a jw is...weak.
was it wrong (and false prophetic) of them?

Bro Sterner, not sure if that is the correct spelling. He was supposedly a former professer who gave up his family for the "truth." I once asked him if I could speak to my father, who was df'd and his answer was "Why would you ever want to speak to a df'd person? I was only 19 and very
intimidated by the him. He was a big fat man. When he got cancer everyone was upset except me. I dislike the man and did not care when he died. He was so overbearing. Anybody remember him?

I had to buy a new desk top cp and it has windows 8 installed. I had not even learned windows 7 yet. I'm not sure I like it. How about anyone else?
I was on the phone for > half a day trying it get my new netgear modum going. What a headache when your cp and internet go down, especially if
you don't know what you're doing. The internet is an essentil part of life.

Why don't Jehovah's Witnesses Celebrate Thanksgiving?
by God_Delusion inhi guys,.
being a brit living abroad, i never really understood the whole thanksgiving business.. i think growing up as a jw didn't help either.
anyway, i've rid myself of those jw shackles and have decided to take an interest into the goings on over the pond, especially as my favourite place on earth is bar harbor.

Vanderhoven7, That's funny! If we do some research, I'm sure we'll find that's part of the reason. The borg just wan't to control everything the r/f do.
They still have Turkey and all the trimmings on the third Thursday of November,, but it's not celebrating Thanksgiving.
Getting ready to go celebrate Thankgiving with some Columbian friends. There will be drinking and dancing!

Similarities between Roman Catholics and Jehovah`s Witnesses
by smiddy inboth claim to be the sole path to god (or did at some point ).
both claim to reach back to first century christians ,( though jw`s are a bit ambiguous about this).
the r.c church has a pope , the j.w.`s have a governing body ,both providing spiritual food to the faithful.

One big thing difference, that I noticed, between the RCC and JWs, is that when you go to Mass, it's all about worship. At the kh, it's all about studying and proving that JWs are right and the only ones God loves and will save during Armagaddon. Did we ever worship Jehovah or Jesus? All I remember doing is studying the WT mag and listening to talks, learing how to go,what to say in fs, and studying one of their publications at the Tues night study.

you know someone is suffering from depression, just kiss them, hug them and tell them that no matter how bad they feel about themselves, that you love them ... and then offer to go with them to the doctor.
I agreee with this advice. When someone is depressed enough to comtemplate suicide they need assurance and professional help. Depression is more than "the blues." It's a serious medical condition. The elders are not qualified to deal with this type of situations. As an RN, when people come to me with physical problems, I always tell them to go see a doctor, they are the ones that have the knowledge to deal with these problems. I also agree that the borg causes alot of depression. How well I remember feeling hopeless when I was in.

Sorry to hear you're still ill. I had pneumonia twice last year and I thought I was going to die. Get plenty of rest, although I know that's sometimes hard to do. Hope both of you get better soon. Never tried frozen grapes. I'll try them.
