Oh the horror of it all; studing not only Philosopy l, but also, Philosopy ll! Getting a well-rounded education and being taught by a "Bright Professor". Getting an education with the thought of obtaining a good salary and maybe, a
"dream house." When will this madness end. And to think I am helping my granddaughter in her efforts to obtain this 'Higher Education." Where did I go wrong? I should have encourged her to "slave" for the "SLAVE."
Anthony is really something else. Like Heaven, I am really begining to dislike this man. Is Anthony trying to destroy the "dream"? He must think all the r/f are stupid. I believe the majority of the young jws are not that dumb and
want what a "degree" will provide them. The arrogance of this man sickens me. Cedar, thanks for the videos.

Why would you make an 83 yr old woman go out in service????
by loosie ini am trying to contact my mothers elders in riverside ca, because my mother doesn't talk to her family.
since that means at least 12 phone calls to various kh's i thought i'd start with my aunt to see what the name of the congegation is.
unfortunatly she didn't know.

wasblind, the scenario you described concerning the two handicapped women being chased by a dog was so funny. I don't mean to sound mean but the image made me laugh so hard, my side hurts. I cannot imagine who would allow these women or anyone so handicapped to put themselves in danger just to preach. I was always terrified of dogs when I used to go 2d2. JWs can be so heartless and dumb.

DO YOU WANT A FUNERAL?
by clarity ini do not want a funeral.
i especially do not want anyone standing before my family.
telling them who i supposedly ... am!.

Actually, I knew, but felt it was inappropriate to propagate hero-worship on this thread.
And EXCUSE ME, but I was DF'd for apostacy in 1978/9 - can't remember the exact year, it was so long ago. So while YOU were still believing the LIE, I was living the reality of dismissing it. So what if some Bethelite had no funeral?
Talesin, I actually do not know who Ed Dunlap or his brother is. I have heard Ed's name mentioned in connection with the 80's purge of apostates but that's all the info I have. I was out of the borg by '78, DF'D for apostacy sometime in the early 80's Like you, I don't remeber the exact year. Apparently it was not that important a date for me to remember. During and after that time, I was too busy rebuilding my life to know what was happening in the larger jw world.
As for a funeral, I do want to be buried. Our family has thirty plots in the middle of the US where my husband and some of his family are already buried. I intend to live to be 100 so there might not be too many people left to attend my funeral. It would make me happy to have any who cared about me in life to have a big party with dancing and music as a send off for me. As others have stated, after I'm gone, I won't know what's happening anway so whatever my children do, is okay by me.

Anthony Morris III---- Who Really Gives a Sh*t About Him Anyway?
by minimus ini don't understand why so many threads and comments are about him.

I had never heard of Anthony Morris lll until I came on this site. I have seen all the videos and agree he has quite an ego. That last one on donating to the world wide work was so blatant it reminds me of the preaches I see on
Sunday morning tv. The jws seem to just eat up whatever he says. Cedars, keep up the good work! We are "getting to know" him. I want to know whose running this organization.

Why get "personal" when discussing a topic?
by Terry intrading insults happens among kids all the time.. intellectual development hasn't progressed to the point where they can present contrary ideas and opinions with persuasive appeal to reasons, facts and logic.. "i know you are; but what am i?".
"your momma's so fat....".
so, they fall back on childish mocking, provocation and personal attack.. as we grow older and have more education and sophistication our minds should mature---or so you'd think!.

Many who were born-ins never developed those critical-thinking skills, and hence were essentially intentionally handicapped so as to stay.
King Soloman, you might be right about that. I always used to ask myself why I didn't plan and think about life like my schoolmates did but then I am reminded of the words in one of Cat Steven's song that says
"From the moment I was born, I was ordered to listen." We, who never had a choice in the matter of becoming jws, grew up having someone else telling us what to think and believe. We were never allowed to think or make our
own decisions about anything. Some born-ins were independent enough to break away sooner that those of us who stayed for years. Family and peer pressure, plus the fear of losing it all kept us tied to the organization. Some
have had to play catch-up with those outside the borg.

I love words. I did not speak English when I entered the first grade so I had to learn an entirely different language at an early age. I guess that’s when I became fascinated with words. I have started writing a book whose pages I send to my professor to critic. I don’t know how good of a writer I am, but I like to write. I do enjoy reading what some on the forum write.

umandevi, I loved the 'Carpetbaggers." I am reading/studying "Wheelock's Latin," by Wheelock and LaFleur and "The Golden Ratio" by Livio. For pleasure I am reading Ernest Hemingway's " For Whom the Bell Tolls." I have always
wanted to learn latin, so here goes. They do not teach latin at the nearby university, I would have to travel 50 miles to attend a class so I am trying it on my own. Does anyone out there write latin? If so, maybe you can e-mail me
a note and see if I can translate it into English...... later.

If disfellowshipping was abolished...
by iamwhoiam in...what would it accomplish?.
a few thoughts running through my head.... 1. the kingdom hall would be open to people who were originally df'd for apostasy, and therefore opening the door for debate without consequence (e.g.
people spreading thier ideas freely within the cong without fear of being df'd/banned).

I'm not sure I would want to have anything to do with those family members who have shunnned me. It has been so many years, > 20 years, that I no longer have any interest in them. I am refering to my beloved sisters. I am just
not interested anymore. I have moved on. I would not return to the KH; to boring and stupid for me.

I have a question: my daughter is a naturally gifted writer. She writes like I wish I could write, naturally from the heart, it just kinda pours out of her. My hubby made the misstep of telling my daughter if she keeps a journal he feels he has a right to read her most personal thoughts (something I don't agree with and feel that should only be done with permission) so now she has stopped writing for pleasure. I've tried to encourage her to pick up the pen again but she refuses. Is there anything I can do?
MsJones, your daughter should learn to write in another language. I wrote in Spanish when I did not want anyone to know what I was writing. Yes, sometimes we are talking about you when we change to another language, but not always.
