this past week randy was hospitalized.
he is now home recovering and has asked me to let you know that he will need a couple of days to recuperate.
in the mean time: if you have sent him emails or want to send him an email, it might take a couple of days for him to respond.. feel free to leave messages here for him.

do you remember the five and dime stores?.
whenever grandpa saw us kids, he gave us two bits (25 cents) each and, when feeling generous, four bits (50 cents).. back in the 50s, the late summer air was charged with excitement as we poor but studious urchins pored over what school supplies we would purchase with our then valuable coins.
whether school supplies or toys or what nots were on the must-get list scribbled out in our heads, we could spend quite some time determining how to allocate our dough.. how about you?
I remember going to the local drug store duing lunch time at school and getting a tuna sandwich with chips and a coke for 35 cents. "Those were the days my friend." I love the line in "You've got Mail" when Tom Hanks tells Meg Ryan that he loves Fall, it makes him want to buy school suplies and that if he knew her, he would send her a bouquet of fresly sharpened pencils." I have been looking for a suitable vase in which to place a "bouquet" of freshly sharpend pencils. Maybe I should go to the Dollar Store and look for one there.

must read on jehovahs witnesses watchtower arrogance in failure to warn of congregation pedophiles.. http://jwsurvey.org/cedars-blog/we-will-decide-who-is-a-predator-new-watchtower-instructions-to-elders-on-child-abuse?fb_action_ids=10151270345663993&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582.

Haven't read all the posts, but is it not the authorities of the land that decide "who is a predator?" Am marking and printing all information. Don't have time to read now.

Yes, I can't wait to see something in print myself.
If I weren't out mentally, then this would have been my final wakeup call.
Saurekraut, that would be my cue to leave also, if I wasn't already out.How arrogant of them.

this might not work for everyone, but it might for some.. if a person faces disfellowshipping, the person should make the elders prove that they are baptized!.
as far as i know, baptism records are not sent to bethel.. without two witnesses to the event (and the witnesses have to remember seeing the person immersed), and no photos, there would be no proof.. if someone did this, the elders would of course contact bethel for instructions, but what could they do?.
it would put a stop to the elders proceeding with any action..
My SIL got out of it by saying she did not answer the questions. No one questioned what she claimed. She smoked, never went to meetings or field service. The cong accepted her being a non- baptized member until she died.

there is a lovely site where one may light a candle for a moment of silence.. http://www.gratefulness.org/candles.
i set up a group, where they may all flicker together, if you like.. http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=oompa.

we had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.
fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.
Winston, I love how the beginning of each of your opening sentences spells out your JWN name. Very cleaver.

i have only been visiting here a couple weeks... but i wanted to say thank you to everyone.
i read threads here on my breaks from work or late @ night... and you guys have finally given me the push i need to read a book i bought 5 years ago... crisis of conscience.
i have mostly grown beyond the whole jw thing except that my pops is still there... he doesnt shun me and doesnt preach to my kids and i respect him for that... i just hold hope that i can find something to help him get out... (he does the same hoping me and my bros/sis will come back) ... all informative stuff here... and im enjoying the book i should have read along time ago... so many thanks to you all!.
but in the end I decided to back off with a few of them, especially those who are getting along in years and have given their whole life to the W.T, some of them I reckon would whither and die if they left, they simply do not have the strength of character to handle it.
thinking_not_believing, Welcome to the JWN, Just wanted to say that I agree with what Phizzy said above. As long as you have a relationship with your pop, keep it. Just take it slow as you continue on your journey away from clutches of the WTBS.

Has anyone ever written a letter to the BOE as a xjw? If so, what kind of response have you received?
