Gopher, I'm afaid I have to disagree.
"It has been said" , that those with small dicks have nothing better to do than bash those they are secretly jealous of.
so how small does your "pee pee" have to be to stoop to bashing america on a jw support board?.
feeling rather put upon for america's sake, living in new york city, feeling like bashing in the brains of anyone who says that americans going about their daily routines "brought this (9/11) upon themselves".
i will always remember the day i looked out my window at work and saw over 3,000 people dying..

i was reading jjrizo's thread about elders who take advantage of the kh, and i had a memory i'd like to share.
all my life growing up i had heard about how "jehovah takes care of those who put kingdom interests first.
" and all of those experiences on the platform about getting an envelope "with the exact rent amount due the day before we were to be evicted" and so on.
Lisa, remember "Jane" on witnet? No matter what experience someone related on witnet, "Jane's" experience was the picture perfect Watchtower view of life:
Congregation was wonderful. Most moms didn't work. They owned their own house. Her husband was an elder. Etc., etc. She made me want to puke. No matter what someone said, Jane's world was perfect.
IW reminds me of her. It's pointless to point out any opposing perceptions of life.

IW,
Well, yeah. I feel like I should have expected proof of blessings. There should be proof of blessings. If you make sacrifices for God, you should be able to see how your sacrifices pay off. (This is probably why I don't believe in "God" anymore). I am not trying to sound mercenary, but someone giving me a "pat on the shoulder" would have been nice.
I must say, though, that this is my thought NOW, not then. Then, I was just happy to be "serving Jehovah" and wasn't on the lookout for any kind of pay back other than bible studies.

Sorry Island Woman, but I think that Lisa's experience WAS the absolute norm. I pioneered for 2.5 years and don't recall a single blessing - other than being able to spend time with my friends.
There are so many stories in the mags that talk about how pioneers were down to their last cent, and someone gave them food. Or, they didn't have any work and couldn't pay the bills, and someone calls with work for them. Blessings, blessings, blesssing. Trust in Jehovah. He will provide. Pioneering was portrayed as a direct route to God, all expenses paid (or close to it).
The reality of it was different. You ALWAYS drove your own car out in service ($$). You stopped after an hour and went for coffee ($$). I was rarely invited to anyone's home for a meal (other than my friends' homes). Most door to door partners didn't even want to talk at at the doors. Most publishers weren't prepared and some didn't even have the mag/books. You were stuck with kids a lot. You NEVER had money (it's hard to pay for car ins/gas/rent/food on a part time salary).
I was counselled once for not wearing nylons out in service. I told the brother he would have to buy them, since I was broke LOL.
Pioneering sucked.

WOW. I recognized three people from my old hall in So. Cal. So happy to know that they are out and free!
i have just received a call from my parents who were at the calgary convention with my daughter and apparently everyone was evacuated as there was a bomb in the stadium.
i am not a jw any longer but this sort of behavior does nothing but put the people responsible on the same level as the jw's and give them something to oooh and aaahh over how the stadium was evacuated in 14 minutes 12 seconds blah blah blah and how this is such a testimony to jehovah's working of a visible organization.
it is just causing fear and we all know how jw's thrive on fear and playing the martyr.
Did they actually find a bomb or was this just a threat?

I am sure that some JW apologist will say that the WTS was probably GIVEN this stock in a will or something (this has been said before)...
But why don't they sell it?
some of you may remember the post about the un-invitation card which is sent to da/df persons who have previously been invited to a wedding.
the un-invitation card tells them not to turn up!.

OMG, are you PAYING for her college education? What a most hurtful thing!
ajwrb was approached early on about working together on these issues.
we took a hard look and opted out for ethical and pragmatic reasons.
though the issues share a common thread (child abuse), they have to be approached in different ways.
Lee, is your site down? I am trying to give a link to someone and it won't bring it up.
