Too sick or injured but still made it to the meeting!

i once attended a two day special assembly with my gums bleeding after having 4 widom teeth pulled the day before.

i managed the two days by rinsing out my mouth all day long and placing cotton in my mouth.. one brother had back surgery the week before but attended a two day assembly by laying on a matress in the back of the assembly hall.

why he needed to be there i'll never understand!.

I was given shots every other day. We drove five hours each way to see the doctorr in TJ. Meixco twice a week. A big fad for JWs in the 60s. My mother never missed a meeting. You got a sick child with a low immune system and dragging her to meetings and assemblies. It really was not about my health but sisters and their need for attention.

I grew up and decided to not go to doctors for the above issues. Maybe three times.

Does anyone remember Dr. Barbosa. Jehovahs Witnesses were flying into California to drive into México. Funny. I bet you can find Dr.Barbosa in the WT.

calling all elders - what goes on at the week long elders school?

my dad is currently attending a week long elders school.

dad is in his 70's and not in great health at the moment so this is adding to my anger that he is having to leave the house at 7am and doesn't return until 6pm and then has to lock himself away to study further in preparation for the next day.. he has also been told he is not to discuss anything about the school with other elders until they have all attended.

what are they learning about that isnt' already out there for all to read anyway.. they can't be learning more bible stuff as the bible is there to be read by the general public so i can only assume that its all top secret stuff that the rest of the congregation can't know about.

To me elders and cops have a lot in common. There are great people who really want to help and there are total chauvinistic, dominating a-holes aho want to hurt. I've seen plenty of each. But they all have one thing in common, they think they were put in that position by a righteous authority. But it's up to their true character of how they wield the badge and the bible.

I still will not have any respect for elders . if your an elder right now and your on this board your a coward. So what if you have family members that are JWs you need to practice what you preached. Inform the congregation your an apostate. That how you show you true character.

That is a load of garbage! Perhaps WTBTS should had paid elders way to a one time forensics class. How about investigation and questioning? Investigation only want fact to the case. It is not about helping a sinner.

Elders are NEVER about helping people.

How could you bibically help many who confess sins? Confession of sin should never be a CASE for disfellowshipping but a cry for help!

How could any elder place WTBTS over the Bibles truth?

It is obvious from the majority of elders reply that helping others is not part of elders school.

Your father has been part of this good old boy club for years it is his way of socializing.

I would suggest to take him to a seniors gathering.

Hopefully, he will enjoy fellowship. Most cities have them.

Be apart of his activities. Take him to senior dances and lunches.

it's two generations overlapping.. what is the definition of the individual generations then?

the original generation changed from those who saw and could understand the events of 1914 to those who were born in 1914.. so let's be generous and say it was those born in 1914 and give them a lifespan of 80 years (1994).

I can say that about any adult Jehovahs Witness.

Children do not have to be beaten or killed to suffer from cult mentality. Considering Jehovah's Witnesses isolate their children from any association with the outside world. JW children are neglected,withdrawn, and suffer from low self esteem. They have to sneak around to meet worldly friends and learn to keep secrets. Also, Jehovah's Witnesses children are vulnerable to pedophiles because the need to have close friends. Pedophiles set in the Kingdom Hall and watch and seek out certain children who are lonely. The process of grooming a child takes weeks and months. Many parents are clueless. Later some victims unknowly marry their pedophile. Sometimes parents only concerns is that they are Jehovahs Witnesses men and not worldy. How many young girls marry adult men. Inadvertently, many adult Jehovah's Witnesses are watching young girls get married to older men and choose to ignore the obvious.

Today,outsiders can see how Jehovahs Witnesses neglect their childrens needs for socialization. Yet, parents in the JW organizations are clueless to their childrens needs. They neglect how important it is to be around children their own age and participating in worldly activities that help build self esteem which leads to normal relationships.

Yes,I feel sorry for the children from the House of Judah who suffered from physical abuse and the 12 year who died in 1983. However this article has reminded me of years of isolation and lonliness I felt growing up as a JW.
