i became an atheist back in july and it was the most unfulfilling depressive period of my life.
i'm now starting to rebuild my relationship with god and i'm already starting to feel a lot better.

Sparrow, I did the same! Unfortunately, with time everything changed. Like minded people all moved or went to other kh, and the doctrines changed.
It is a hard one but some day you might leave again realising that you out grew like minded folks.
In some odd way that is what we have in common with atheist. :-)
Anyhow, there is no such thing as a perfect religion so I wish you happiness and peace of mind.

Sparrow, I had to learn that simple way of Christanity and Jesus hope! I agree with you because Grace is simple. There really is no reasoning to double check the bible for deeper meaning. Now they try to tell me only certain ones God will give a deeper understanding! Bull! Crazy.

I doubt any JW could have a heart felt love for Jesus because they are too busy convincing people with smooth words and building "WT Mcmansion." Did you ever notice how many times they expressed "heart felt love" as to convince everyone how they should feel. People heard it so much that it means nothing!

Five years ago, I started viewing Atheist online sites and listen to YouTube debates, found the cartoon very funny, and looked at a few books but realized it was not for me. Never looked back. I decided my faith would be on Jesus and the Almighty. Yes it was depressing.
There are probably a lot of former JW who go through several stages before they return back to God.
in another thread, one of our members made up a great satirical letter that sounded like something the society would write about how to count time now.... it included counting all time spent in preparation etc.... (can someone please post the link here??).
i used the letter, edited it a little, and copied it on to official letterhead for a stir..... it is going on the notice board when i can casually slip in the hall one day..... .
ahhh...being a stirrer....such fun.....

i've lately been thinking about the pernicious nature of the belief by the jw's that they are the one and only true religion.
how this belief allows for an egotistical world view and allows them to shun and denegrate those that do not share their opinions.. please pardon my round about thinking process as i've been mulling this rant for some time.
while my father's side of the family has been entrenched with the jw's for two generations before him, my mother was a new convert.
I sure can relate to what you wrote. I trying to make up for lost time with uncles and aunts. Found out that I have a 98 year old aunt!
Back in those days religious people would argue about some doctrine and that would be it! Cross one legs or remarried! Why bother ever sharing a religious view point if it prevented people to never speak. My mother seemed to want to try to preach to relatives and it kept them away. Relatives were all very nice about it but she would not let it go. Points to prove. She would need to bring it up. Preaching was her thing and she thought she had the truth. Meanwhile, the relatives had their understanding. Basically they argued doctrines. I still have not found that side of the family.

I understand God the Father. God the son as Hebrew 1. But I get lost on God the Holy Ghost! Boo! So I try to understand.

No the Jews made Jesus equal with God. Jesus never said he was equal.
So it is not that clear. The Jews assumed he was making himself equal to God the motive was to have an excuse or reason to kill him. The people assumed because Jesus called God his father. Perhaps prior to Jesus they never called YHWH Father. Although I do not know what they were thinking, but maybe in their minds it would appear that he was claiming equal only because he used the word Father or they just needed to find fault. I go with reason to find fault to kill him. Jesus could say what ever and they would find a reason to have him killed.
John 5:18 "Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God."
Not too sure if I could ever believe the fully man and fully God
Because, John 5:19 The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Fully God can do nothing of himself! I would think fully God would not need to see another God do. After all Jesus was an adult yet fully God, right. Smile.
Anyhow Jonza just a thought! Just saying that concept lacks a little.
I am not jumping on the band wagon with everyone here! if people want to believe Jesus was fully God while a man it not any worse than WT making him an angel or two.

news are coming through now , 20 days, later about a fire that destroyed the houses of 89 jehovahs witnesses in valparaiso,chile.
according to jw.org ,on april 13, 2014 a wildfire started by strong pacific winds destroyed most of the old city of valparaiso, that lies in the coastline of chile.the fire destroyed almost 3,000 homes and thousands were displaced as a result.so far the authorites have reported 15 people dead ,one of the them a jehovahs witness..
Hopefully the former JWs will get help!

Prayers are going to the people of Chile of all different faiths and non faiths.
recently had a discussion with a surgeon who said jw parents "usually" (her word, not mine) privately say they will take blood if the provider gets a court order.. yet another person, with no connection to dubs and no motive to make this up, saying this same thing.
interesting.. i'm surprised the thought police have not come out with an article saying jehoopla reads the hearts and judges as bloodguilty those who are relieved when forced to take blood..
Blood transfusion can be given without family member or elders knowing. So yes I can see this happening.
I provided in my files that blood transfusions would not be done in front of family and friends but strictly in private.
Good post and important to encourage HAs to go private blood transfusions. No one will know.
