I feel exactly the same way as you do LyinEyes! Yesterday I was wondering the same thing. I started working in the garden and the thought hit me: Why? What's the point? Do we just muddle through, sort of lost, and then - nothing? That's it? I feel as though I'm running on empty and don't know where the gas station is.
JamesThomas: I'll be picking up that book myself. Thanks.

My daughter ( JW) called me today!!!!!!!
by mouthy inevery one knows( regulars on board) that my jw daughter didnt speak to me for 10 years- the when my melanie was dying in 1999,she heard i was having back problems & having a hard time lifting my melanie...she told that person she would be willing to come & help if she had the money( she lives in montreal i live in ontario) so i called her bluff & sent the money for her fare.she stayed to help my daughter 10 days.
then when my daughter died -3 days after she left.
she spoke to me on the phone said she was sorry- ( all the time she was here religion was not discussed -when christians came to visit mell she would walk out)although she worked real hard while here.

Mouthy! I just got in, been a bit crazy around here, but as usual when logging on to this site, I look for your posts. What great news! I'm sure your daughter misses you like crazy but is so caught up with the dub rules and regulations she's too fearful to listen to what Jesus really taught about love and grace (or Grace )
What congregation is she in? Is it an English - speaking one? Montreal or the South Shore (geez, Acsot stop asking so many questions!)
I'm soo happy for you Mouthy! Lots of hugs!

(((Ignored One))) I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved pet - I know how much it hurts to lose a pet, they're such great friends and companions to us, giving so much and asking for so little.
My thoughts are with you - lotsa hugs.

1. Writing in my journal.
2. Bubble bath, sipping a glass of Beaujolais and listening to classical guitar (Pepe Romero, Julian Bream or Segovia)
3. Reading "fluff" like mystery novels, or, depending on why I'm stressed, something along the lines of Scott Peck (Road Less Traveled or one of his other ones) or David Burns (Feeling Good)
4. Petting my cats

Do You Consider Yourself A Stronger Person Since Your Eyes Have Opened?
by minimus insince you've learned the truth about the "truth", do you feel emotionally, mentally and spiritually stronger?
-
acsot
Minimus:
First off, glad to hear about your family's eyes being opened also! Good for you!
To answer your question: Yes. Stronger, happier, more outgoing, more "connected" to my fellow humans, able to indulge my curiosity about all things "spiritual", be it new age, Buddhism, Native American, whatever. Thanks for asking.

JWs At My Door This Morning
by Francois ini was standing on my front porch talking on my cell phone when three car loads of them pulled up down the street.
by the time i finished my conversation, one of the jws was standing on my sidewalk waiting for me to get off the phone.
i eventually did.

Yeah Francois! I can't imagine using the Catholics as our comparison model years ago when I worked mainly Catholic territory - I mean, come on! The dubs have the "truth", it's Jehovah's clean organization! Now they're hiding behind other denominations for protection! Congratulations on a job well done, wish I could have been there!

for the pet lovers, ....and for stephanus
by nowisee inthis is a story i recently wrote about my cat, squeak:.
i said goodby to squeak yesterday.
having had to do so has been a most humbling experience.. i have been thinking back over the last l8 years of her life.

((((nowisee))) I'm so sorry for you! Squeak sure was a special cat. I have two cats, one became very ill awhile back and I was totally distraught; thankfully she recovered, she had youth on her side (she was only about 4 years old at the time). I can't bear to think of how I'll react when something does happen to them. I wish I could take away your pain; animals are so special, and Squeak taught me a lesson also, through your beautiful story. Squeak lived a long and deservedly spoiled life. Remember all those times and forgive yourself for anything you regret. Squeak certainly would.

Your favorite Watchtower oddities
by logansrun inyou know, there are some things phrased that are just so, so....watchtoweresque.
what are some things you see that remind you of some wt foibles?
one thing that always cracks me up is when an article or book (or post) uses too many exclamation points.

Variations of "it's a privilege", "I had the privilege of", "isn't it a privilege". Like someone saying to me "oh you had the privilege of visiting Israel". Hell no, I worked hard, scrimped and saved every penny and paid my way. I deserved it!!
Like the "privilege" to clean the KH bathroom !
Also, "eagerly anticipate". JWs eagerly anticipate everything, the next assembly, the next CO visit, the new service year, Armageddon - sheesh!
"Independent thinking", which for "normal" people is a good thing - making up your own mind after weighing all the possibilities. Watchtower-speak makes it the exact opposite.
