Scholar,
For another indication that there is a larger picture being portrayed in Daniel, see here.
i came across this article written in 2004 by an evangelical.. “when did jerusalem fall?”, rodger young, journal of the evangelical society [jets], 47/1 (march 2004), 21-38.. http://www.rcyoung.org/articles/jerusalem.pdf .
these are the conclusions of the 18-page analysis.
(1) jerusalem fell in the fourth month (tammuz) of 587 bc.

Hi scholar,
607 aside (I'm for 587), but that aside, my research on the topic of Daniel chapter 4 has also led me to the conclusion that it has a dual fulfillment. I posted on it here (off site). The whole thread is on that topic. But that particular post gets to the main point of why a dual fulfillment.
there will be an update/change in the od book coming soon.
i have it on good word that this change in the od book has already been pushed out & notified to the “higher ups”.
newwww light!.
Hi Blondie,
I downloaded the file and then double clicked on it in my Chromebook. It opened up the JW Library app, which then opened the OD book. (My Chromebook also runs android apps.)
So I guess the file type must be associated with the Library app (on my machine, at least).

Some one told me they were talking about it being updated in the Library app on JWTalk. From what I have seen there are changes in the baptism questions and updates reflecting the data protection laws in Europe. It has Aug, 2019 as the most recent date for the book.
Here is a download link that was posted.

Hi Doug,
Here is the Wikipedia article on it. Look also at the text in Reference 2 at the bottom.
You might also find this post of interest. (It is not directly related to the 587/86 issue, but does involve it.) All of WT dating (from the split in the kingdom and on back) is grounded on 607 BCE as the fall of Jerusalem, and 390 (from Ezek chap. 4) added to that to reach the split in the kingdom.
i am presently reading this book and so far have read only 100 pages and it boggles my mind !!.
has anybody on the board read it ?
if so i would like to hear your views on it,if not now after i have finished reading it myself lol.

alert: the anti-cult miviludes in france would be in danger of dissolution according to credible rumors.
cults lobbyists managed to manipulate french politicians.
extremely sad..
Some years back I remember some dispute between France and the WT involving taxation that resulted in the WT moving their operations out of France. I wonder if MIVILUDES was involved in that, or if it was the previous organization, MILS? It seems like the timing of the change is about right. But I'm not sure on that.

judge rutherford is introduced by the speaker saying, “his preeminence in scriptural knowledge is beyond question.
he speaks as a messenger of jehovah.”.
Thanks Earnest for formatting the quote. The "toltalitarian combine" refers to the Axis powers. At that point in history (late 1930s) they did indeed appear to be on the way to victory. The battle of Britain, the invasion of Russia (along with the ensuing 'winter of the century'), and the attack on Pearl Harbor (which brought the US into the war) had not yet occurred. Everything appeared to be going the Axis' way.
The next booklet that discussed this ("End of Axis Powers"; 1941) foretold a draw between the Allies and the Axis. Then the "Peace, Can It Last?" talk in 1942 described an Allied victory.
The WT definitely kept up with current events. But the only part they ever discuss is the "Peace, Can It Last? talk. (See my post on this page for some additional detail.)

JFR thought that Germany was the scarlet beast of Rev 17. It had 'went into the abyss' in its defeat in WWI. And now (that is, the early part of WWII) it had come out. So, in his view, it was destined to be successful for "one hour" until it was done away with by God.
The harlot riding the beast was thought to be 'Popery." (i.e. Catholicism)

In the talk, which was afterwards published as a booklet, he urged the Allies not to resist the Axis powers since, according to JFR's understanding of the scriptures, the Axis powers were destined to win the war. (Face the Facts, page 27, par. 1)
