announcement:.
the following outlines should be presented in the christian life and ministry meeting during the dates specified below.
please assign a qualified elder to apply the material locally.
Bobcat says please also. And many thanks for your tireless efforts.
we used to use this scripture to show that there was going to be a future resurrection.
but recently i got to thinking about it.
if the apostle paul was right in saying that the righteous on death would be changed in the twinkling of an eye from earthly life to heavenly glory why would there be a future resurrection needed for the righteous?
"The hour" in the phrase, "the hour is coming," is idiomatic. It has the same sense in English as saying 'the time is coming.' It is not expressing any particular length of time. Thus, the foretold "last day" is "the time" for all those in the tombs to rise. And it starts at "the last trumpet" which coincides with the start of the day of judgment. (Rev 11:15, 18)
Resurrection, as an idea, is no more nonsensical than is teleportation on the Star Trek series. The idea is based on the theory of quantum entanglement. The NOVA series, The Elegant Universe discussed and illustrated the idea.
With enough memory and power a person (or anything for that matter) could be 'recreated' as it were. The idea of resurrecting a person is not out of the realm of known science. Humans are playing with the idea, but only one particle at a time last I read.

editorial in local paper by victor davis hansen , a classicist and historian at the hoover institution stanford university.. this is something i think you folks would find interesting.
unfortunately i am computer challenged due to the effectiveness of church shunning policies cutting off access to kids and grandkids educating me.
so if some one would be able to pull up and post the editorial, i think it would be of interest.
a bit late in coming, but i have a new article on the cry of peace and security at https://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/peace-and-security.php.
this was prompted by trump using the term peace and security a few times in 2017 and 2018, and the excitement this generated amongst jehovah's witnesses.
i would love to see other quotes you like on this topic, or texts and experiences..
my 87 year old dad called me for the first time in 16 years the other day .... just to chat.
i was floored to say the least since he didn't even bother to call me when my mom died several years ago.
he called again today to inquire how i felt about jehovah's witnesses.
Dad has always insisted that I must hate them since I left. Pure nuttiness.
That has been my experience also. Whatever the WT says are your motives, that's what they are. It doesn't matter what you say or do.
And yes, it is pure brainwashed nuttiness. I resigned as an elder some years back (10+) and got off the school to prevent them from trying to reappoint me. (It has worked, by the way.) Yet, every time the CO visits he includes a part in his service talk about ones getting upset about losing their privileges, and to get over it. It's kind of like if a sane person were sentenced to live in an insane asylum. It's a lot like that.
documents that have arrived as of 2020-06-02 in english and spanish.letters are:.
if you are on the email list these are already under your coffee cup.

Hi Petra, may I have a copy also?
Thank you.
scrolling through the news this morning and i couldn’t help to think we are light years from any leaders crying out peace and security.
jws are going to have to wait another decade or two and see how things develop before they get excited about armageddon coming in their lifetime.
.
I had a thread on this topic a few years ago. (Here) The NAC-Thessalonians commentary that is quoted in the OP (of that thread) has a very interesting take on 1Th 5:3. Because of the wording used in 1Th 5:3, it understands the verse to be describing the world's nonchalant view of a coming "day of the Lord." Paul is saying that that attitude already prevailed in his day among non-Christians, and that the world would continue to have that attitude until that "day" suddenly erupted in the lives of humanity. From that standpoint, 1Th 5:3 is not all that different from Luke 17:26-30, which is why Paul could tell the Thessalonians what he did in 1Th 5:1-2.
It appears to me that many of the comments above are not so much comments on 1Th 5:3 per se, but rather, comments on the WT's long held interpretation of that verse.
i'm sure there's already topics on this but i couldn't find one so i'm starting my own.
is the kingdom hall scheduling program new?
is this where they are entering all of the members data now?
If all the scheduling were routed through the Society, is it possible they would get some sort of discount or advantage through the different carriers because of the numbers of people involved (sort of like how they get perks from the hotels when they arrange hotels for conventions)?
I don't know enough about how phone service works, so I am just guessing at possibilities. An elder sent me an email asking for my carrier also (USA). It seemed a little odd, but I saw no harm in it.
