It should also be noted that the "king of the north" presented in Daniel 11 is always an individual. Somewhere around Dan 11:19 or 20 is where WT changes the interpretation of the "king of the north" as an empire.

Why the King of South (USA) is in the Northern Hemisphere?
by pistolpete inthere's been a lot of talk among jws, that this is it with russia (king of the north) pushing and shoving against the (king of the south usa).
but look at the world map below on the link, and notice that usa is in the northern hemisphere.. meaning the king of the south must be none other than -----------argentina .
that's so funny that jws still can't figure it out that they are being conned to the max.

Are Jehovahs Witnesses a cult?
by GoverningBody inthis question has been presented many times throughout the years.
somewhat recently, there has been much talk surrounding the "bite method" :.
"bite” stands for behavior, information, thought, and emotional control.. some examples were thrown at me, such as the decisions of who we associate with, discouraging any worldy media, encouraging our brothers and sisters to report any of our misbehaviours to the elders, our rejection of criticism on the truth, shunning etc.. what do we think about this?.

Bobcat. I have wondered about the background music.
It is used to 'set the tone' of various parts of their videos. For example, when they have a video interview, you will inevitably hear background music. There is no need for this. They could just conduct their question and answer interview with the person or couple. But the background music that plays is intended to control how you feel about what is being said. And with WT interviews, everything that is said has been washed and scrutinized. You won't hear anything that is extemporaneous such as you might hear on a news interview. All such interviews are little more than propaganda exercises.
It is ironic that in years gone by the WT used to denigrate soap operas for their background music, which, admittedly, had the same purpose, to move you to feel for the characters. This might leave you feeling that a man was justified for cheating on his 'bad' wife. Now the WT is employing the same tricks.
I remember one elder who was interviewed during a KM school part about his college past. The interview followed the party line about higher education. But he admitted to me privately that he enjoyed his time in college. But you couldn't tell that from just listening to the interview.
Another time they wanted to interview a pioneer sister in our congregation about some experience she had with a Bible study using a certain book. Turned out the sister never used that book in the way the interview was supposed to demonstrate. But the brother conducting the interview was under pressure for the interview to demonstrate his outline point. In the end the sister made some sort of compromise that included ambiguous wording that was satisfactory to the brother conducting the part and the brother overseeing the convention parts. The sister was left with a somewhat bruised conscience.
It's all a great propaganda machine. And aside from the GB, everybody else is simply a cog in that machine.

To be fair, the word "cult" has become somewhat of a loaded pejorative, much like certain racially loaded terms. It might be more productive to use the term "high control group." Because of the loaded nature the word "cult" has taken on, a group's being a "cult" would more likely fall to the 'eye of the beholder,' rather than to any agreed upon definition
Also, regarding the BITE model, various groups, many of which are non-religious in nature, practice some form of the BITE model (more or less so). The military comes to mind. And a number of sub groups within the military are even more controlling, such as various elite style units. There are many ex-military people that regard the 'high-control' of the military to have had a beneficial effect on themselves. And many who have been in elite style units often regard their past with a high degree of pride. I was in such an 'elite' part of the military many years ago. The enforced 'control' during training was far beyond anything the WT does. Yet, one could see a beneficial aspect to it.
Having said all that, I do agree that the WT is indeed a "high control group." And they often practice their "control" in a very sophisticated (and somewhat underhanded) manner, not unlike how communist regimes would do with their populations. The WT seems to have mastered the art of manipulation. And I think their shift to audio/visual presentations will only increase that.
If one presently finds themselves within the WT organization, it is my opinion that much of the control can be lessened by learning to say "yes" or "no" without offering any explanation. (Mt 5:37) Also, learning to have a dismissive attitude towards peer pressure. Much of the WT's control is based on your not being able to do these two things.
If you have to listen to their video presentations, for whatever reason, if you listen from a physical distance so as to not be able to hear the background music they often employ, it will help to be able to accurately analyze what they are saying. Also, listen without watching. These two things eliminate a good part of their manipulative presentation.

What I always marvel at is the fact that all these photos are staged for the magazines. But listening to the comments about them you hear people describing them as if they were real. It's mind boggling. In comments about the pictures you hear people making a deep analysis of what they see in the picture, oblivious to the fact that every detail was orchestrated by whoever was directing the photo shoot.
Yet, if you pointed to a picture of someone smoking a cigarette in an ad with a smile on their face, they would immediately point out that this is planned by the advertisers.

Hi Atlantis,
Did you see the video? The video is set in a web browser. Look at the left most tab. There's gotta be a mole in Bethel.
Either that, or, they are just daring someone to say something that would expose their 'apostate' leanings.

The Anointed fight during the memorial celebration?
by waton inthe last wt magazine on the memorial asserts, that the kingdom covenant was the prime subject of the solemn last supper bread and wine ceremony.
here was the sobering passing of the bread of wine, symbolizing the new covenant, forgiveness of sins for all.
here was the symbolic undoing of the talking snake's viles, the reversal of the misery and death of billions, but .
