I just started a thread inquiring what has happened to all the congregations that used to meet here.
I was in neighbouring Caterham when these were all built, it was a great social event.
The complex is within walking distance of my present residence.

Anyone notice JW old publications are going way up in price?
by Tobyjones262 ini have long collected the older books and magazines that show the jws crazy cult history.
they used to be very cheap and i have had people just give me books.
but now it seems the older stuff that shows the crazy cult history is really going up in price.

I sold a motorcycle to a friends son, I have known the family since 1968
I was surprised to see he had a complete collection of the original "Studies in the Scriptures", the fella had never been a Dub though his parents used to take the magazines. I think he had them for decoration, to look good on his bookshelf. He obviously never read them or had a clue what they were about.

I like the notion of the Elder who studied with me, "maybe it will be a free-for-all", that would explain the no marriage thing. And why not, in this system children need the protection stability of a family, well we will all be one big family eh?

Why are there more sisters than brothers at the Kingdom Hauls?
by Sour Grapes ini have always wondered why there are more females than males in all of the congregations that i have visited?
some of these females are in their 70's so maybe their husbands have died and women just live longer.
or could the reason be that years ago men were the breadwinners and women stayed home to raise the children thus they were home during the week when the jdubs came a knocking?

I like Jesus a lot, he did a great thing for us, but I wonder if it's easier for Women to "Love" him to the extent required to sacrifice your life for him?
Would there be a higher percentage of men if God had sent a daughter?

Change of the 2 Baptismal Questions Soon?
by The Fall Guy inq1 - on the basis of the sacrifice of jesus christ, have you dedicated yourself to god & the governing body?.
q2 - do you understand that your dedication and baptism as one of jehovah's witnesses identifies your belief the wtbts's literature is equal in authority with the bible?
having answered yes to these questions, candidates are in a right heart condition sufficiently brain-dead to undergo christian jw.borg baptism..

Is porn really such a big problem in the wt?
by purrpurr inin the most recent circuit assembly there was a lot about porn and warning against porn.
even warning against looking at swim wear adverts!
so i was wondering, is porn really such an issue in the wt?.

Be careful though you married ones. I overheard a married sister asking another sister if she could get her husband disfellowshipped and get divorced because she had caught him masturbating.
What a great way for sisters to get a divorce, withhold the sex, wait for her husband to get so frustrated that he turns to porn, then report him.
I am sure her place will be safe on the Ark that is the Org whilst her husband can be pelted by fiery rocks by an angry God.

Prediction time: just has i told my wife a month ago, the 144000 is not a litteral number and the GB are the only anointed
by goingthruthemotions inso things have been calm so far...knock on wood!!!
but i was thinking today...a month ago in one of our arguments.
i told her the 144000 was not to considered a literal number.

The way I read it now is that there is a literal 144000, but that they are literally 12000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel, just as the Bible actually states rather than being symbolic, a fulfillment of Gods promise to Abraham, this is then followed in verse 9 by the "Great Crowd" which I do not see as a different group, but is exactly the same as the 144000 but are the un-numbered group comprising the greater number of Gentiles who accepted Jesus. It states they have white robes and serve God day and night in his temple. Doesnt say these are the only Earth bound survivors of Armageddon.
Whilst man may no longer know the geneolgy of the descendants of the lost tribes, I am sure God knows.
This would help explain why there are far more than 144000 anointed, in fact I think all Christians in the last days who resist worshipping the Beast when it comes will be anointed.
I also think there will be ones who come out of the Great Tribulation who did not wash their robes in the Blood of the Lamb, these will provide the Nations that Jesus will Shepard with a rod of iron and who comprise the Nations that attack the Holy city at the end of the thousand years rather than Witnesses and resurrected who have gone bad and failed the "second test".
On top of which the resurrection doesn't happen at the beginning of the Thousand years so Dubs can train them whilst Sisters knit them clothing, according to the Bible, the general Resurrection happens after the thousand years:- And they lived and reigned with Christ for a[a] thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished
