I would be more likely to give my bank account information to that guy from Nigeria that keeps emailing me than believe that schlock. I forgot about all of the urban myths that get passed around. Btw, did everyone know that the song "Crystal Blue Persuasion" was written about the "Truth Book"...... true story, I swear it....... no really it was. And Jimi Hendrix wrote "All along the Watchtower" after a return visit from a couple of Elders. Also true.

I just want to clear up a misconception, alot of people are referring to the Quakers, and making horse and buggy references. You are confusing them with Amish and Menonites, that is the area that I grew up in. Modern day Quakers are not culturally different from anyone else.
That is todays lesson on horse and buggies and religion.

Not so sure about this, some are correct, but anything that is very mainstream..... not. I actually attend a Liberal Catholic Church, but mainly for the reason that they allow for defining your beliefs according to your own conscience, are extremely open minded, have a female priest, support Gays, exclude no one, preach love....... that is weird. I also enjoy the mass, I find it very powerful, I look at it like it is a magical rite. My belief set is more in line with Hermetics, read the Kyballion, very fascinating. My DA letter ... comments?
by FinchAndWeston inin where it matters, we have not been associating with the b**** congregation for over 6 years.
moreover, we have not identified ourselves as jehovahs witness for about 5 years.
as such, we are informing the congregations that we have already disassociated from the jehovahs witness.. in this regards, we do not wish to be called on when the door to door service is performed either for monthly magazine campaigns, circuit/district assembly notices and memorial night flyers.

A new member of the thinking class
by Captain Obvious inthis is my first post on this forum, though it feels like i already know some of you here.
i have been lurking for a couple of months now, and i must say, there honestly seems to be more love and respect here than any forum i have ever seen on any forum of any kind.
i am 25 years old, married 3 years to my wonderful wife who is 22. we had a somewhat classic jw upbringing... which i now know has been our biggest problem.

I feel your pain, I was lucky enough to gradually fade with my wife at the time... it just kind of happened organically and we really did not have to discuss it. I agree with Cheezit, if you take a direct approach it will only strengthen the resistance. Be patient and kind, be logical, and slow, and eventually you will win out. Good luck to you, and welcome to the TRUTH, or at least it is TRUTHIER, than what the JW'S are serving up.

Is worship deserved?
by goddidit inanyone know the jw explanation for this:.
so supposedly, god exists outside of space and time.
or, god wasn't created and didn't create itself, it just always was, or something.... ignoring any logical issues for a moment, if this is true, why does it deserve any worship for this?.

You do deserve the love SweetBabyCheezits, and I deserve that pulitzer to. You remind me of all my smartass JW friends from my teen years, same sort of humor, good times, bad religion. I am just guessing, but were you one of those bad seed party hard Bethel Brothers? My favorite version of Jesus is the Willem Dafoe version who was geting after Mary Magdalene (Barbara Hershey)..... hot in a sacreligious way.
Peace brother

I do not agree with any omniscient, omnipotent being needing or demanding worship, or the comparisions to that are made to human terms such as a jealous spouse or loving parent. That has just lowered God to the level of humans. God is above human emotions, and if God was to have these sorts of emotions he/she/it, could not logically be omniscient, omnipotent, or any other omni for that matter. Now do I chose to love God, yes, because I recognize the awe inspiring qualities of ITS creation, yes, but God does not need it, nor desire it, because both need and desire are human concepts. As far as the rest of the qualities attributed to God in the OT, that God is not worthy of my worship, only my contempt. I do not believe one can logically consider the God of the OT and the God of the NT the same God.

Need some advice
by craigulous into all my new friends, i need some advice.
as i posted in my original post i am not disfellowshipped, i just did a fade as i believe everyone here calls it.
i have great parents who are still part of the organization, and do not pressure me, but at the same time i must live a lie, and they have no problem with me living a lie, as long as they are comfortable.

Thank you everyone for the words of advice and wisdom, it is appreciated. My parents and brother are they only ones from the JW'S that I am in association with. I have been away for over twenty years, so mine is not a recent fade, nor one in progress. My situation is that I feel that I still have to live a lie around my parents, I must stifle my true self. I struggle with the fact that it is ok for them to talk about there spiritual life, but mine is offensive to them. Mine must be squashed in order to not offend there faith. I have a lot to think about.

Good stuff. I think that one sister needs long and regular home visits for encouragement.
