I used to give public talks about "How Wonderfully We Are Made" and "Do You Have a Personal Relationship With God?" I could have delivered the same outline in any church, not just the KH and it would have tickled the ears of listeners. I still believe we are wonderfully made to a certain extent and I can definitely say even after 30 years as a JW I never had nor will have a personal relationship with God. My feelings are that it is all in the mind of the believer. The God Delusion leads to far too many unanswered questions. Man created God. And I am ok with that because while many horrid actions are carried out by man in his name, much good is also accomplished. It is the nature of all things. I would like to see people do well and good to others of their own volition not as a way to please or not displease a supreme being. That seems and feels more in touch with reality in my opinion. To each his own however because one way or the other I actually don't care as long as you are not hurt me, my loved ones or anyone for that matter.

i find myself not really caring what happens to walt.
but i'm definitely rooting for something good to happen to jesse, anything at all..

in my country (eastern europe) it is viewed mostly as "unexemplary" , although many kids have harry potter dvds at home, but nobody talks about it .... at circuit assembly one speaker warned, that "some might be tempted to watch a movie, with a little witch .... (of course it is very dangerous and we must stay away!!!)".
when i started my departure several months ago, i made sure my son has all movies on dvd and i openly talk about it with dubs who visit our home - how nice the movies are - ... nobody so far dared to react.... albert .

At a circuit assembly in woodland hills a bethel speaker specifically mentioned his disdain and Jehovah's displeasure that so many JWs watched Titanic with its fornication and nudity and Star Wars with its blatant mockery of Jesus.
It was honestly the beginning of my awakening and fade process.
Years later Harry Potter was specifically mentioned in another DC part.
Bottom line was the majority of active JWs could give a rats ass what was said and chose to go to the movies anyway.
Every movie could be dissected and used to browbeat consciences. It worked on some.

The Nazis get taken out by Walts wit, not a gun battle. He gets his money back and launders it through Grey Matter after they agree to his terms of installing him as the real brains behind the company. Lydia takes the fall as kingpin with the Feds. Skylar is cleared and enters witness protection. Jessie's buddies rescue him and take Walts gift of half the money recovered from the Nazis. He heads to Mexico. Walt takes the ricin recovered from the receptical in his trashed house. Marie ends up as cell mate with Lydia for grand theft.

Do you detect an underlying sadness ?
by Phizzy inwhenever i talk to jw's, and even in some of the jw official videos, i detect a definite vibe of sadness coming off these people.. i am very sensitive to "atmospheres" and to peoples emotional state, you wouldn't think so, because more often than not i do not react to what i detect, i just let people get on with it.. but i do get this feeling that they are sad, probably because very, very, very deep down they realise that it is all false, maybe ?.

The negativity, sadness and deadwood lifestyle of hundreds of JWs in my circuit was an integral part of me wanting more in my own life and taking a critical look into everything I had been taught from infancy. Reconnecting with others that have escaped has brought affirmation that life can be beautiful. I feel a deep sorrow for those I love that are still trapped but I am hopeful that in time they too will observe that real happiness and productivity is waiting for them by the examples of so many that have escaped and are prospering mentally, physically and in some cases spiritually.

Am I in a "cool hall " or what?

me and the wife go to a hall that is pretty "hands off".
i have not really been out in service for probably 1.5 years and my wife has went out maybe 3 times in the last year.

From the circuit I was formerly in, there were a dozen couples from several congregations who regularly attended meetings and FS. Undetected for years they had rager parties with alcohol and drugs, trips to Vegas, partner swapping, hookers, strippers, porn, etc. They operated under the code see nothing say nothing and if ever confronted...deny deny deny.
Half of them are still in, some reconciled after very public affairs. Some became single and dove into the organization full throttle after DFings and reinstatement.
I believe the double life acted as a narcotic of sorts for them but in the end a lot of them found themselves broken, sticky and confused. The ones that escaped seem to be doing well. At least the facade is no longer a burden to them.
Seems like way to much effort to me to stay in an organization that offers nothing but half truths and blatant lies.
To each his own.

Yep, there is a group just like you in most halls. Generally referred to by the body of elders as spiritually immature, stagnate or apathetic. Great way to avoid the burden of being a servant or elder really. Stay under the radar and don't get caught doing the stuff you know you'd get DFd for. Once you do things start unravelling quickly.
