I have heard some rumors that the Society is selling some of the properties in Brooklyn. Specifically the Furman St bldg was mentioned. Has anyone else heard this?

If this is true, Im wondering if this is preparation for possible sizeable payouts in the recent lawsuits being brought against them for pedophilia and the blood issue.

Gilead Couples - gag

i was just thinking about the snoozefest i used to go through with each new gilead class.

the introductions were the worst!

im not sure you get the same feel from the doctored up articles in the wt, but listening to the couples was just maddening.. there was always at least 3 or 4 couples that would say the exact same thing: well, i wanted to be a missionary but couldnt go without a partner and my husband/wife was in the same predicament so we got married and here we are.

You obviously were assigned to assist the Gilead instructors. Did you have the opportunity to work closely with U. Glass? Did he not stand out as a truly sincere man? He and his wife Ann stayed with us a few years ago when he was asked to give the wedding talk for a friend of mine. Both he and Ann struck me as truly sincere people with a great sense of humor. Just wondering what your experience with them was.

Dateline May 28th at 8:00 p.m.

i checked the nbc time line for shows on may 28th and they have dateline listed as running at 8:00 p.m. est.

that evening with the nba game following.

normally dateline runs at 10:00 p.m. on tuesday, but they must have changed it for the game.

Thanks for your note. It's taken me a long time to feel comfortable posting on this board. I come from a VERY strong family in the truth-Father is PO, Im an elder, Mom is Reg Pio for 25yrs, sister is married to CO, aunt and uncle in branch work in foreign country, etc... So you see I have a LOT to contend with and although I NO longer believe The Watchtower is God's instrument in dispensing His Truth, my family obligations keep me on the inside. I tend to be laconic so don't expect long winded posts from me. I'm a "to the point" kinda guy.

Just a side note, last week my family had visitors from Bethel stay with them and they mentioned that the Society is hoping the Catholic story will overshadow the JW story. Also, the CO visited us 3 weeks ago and at a get together one of the elders was talking about the Catholics and how disgusting the whole scandal was, well the CO told him not to be so indignant with the Catholics because "we have our share of similar problems". The elder was dumbfounded!! Poor guy, he has no idea--

I agree about the Dateline expose being necessary in all fairness to members of "Babylon the Great". Also, the Watchtower has to be brought before the court of public opinion in this most sensitive of issues because for decades it has been the FIRST to expose other relgious organizations for their crimes against humanity- What goes around comes around. After all, Galatians 6:7 says "Do NOT be mislead: God is NOT one to be mocked. For whatever a man is sowing this he WILL also reap;" It's God's law- they should not and will not be exempt-

Why do you think that the story will not air? Just because of the Catholic Church expose? If what the Silentlambs web page has been posting over the past year is true and DATELLINE has invested all of those man hours investigating and recording why would they have done all that work in vain? I just find it hard to believe they will scrap this year + long project that easily. Too, I seriously doubt that the PR guys in Brooklyn are THAT good at persuading one of the biggest if not THE biggest news agency to not report a story on a religious organization which is so quick to point the finger at the wrongs committed by other religious groups.
