I am through with organized religion on any level. What works for me is the Sermon on the Mount. As far as I am concerned the guidelines for living that Jesus taught in the three chapters, Matthew 5-7 are all one needs. The Beautitudes give us the secret to happiness and the Golden Rule tells us how to be constructive members of society. It's just that simple, who needs all the complicated man made rules and regulations which make up religion? Not me!!

BIG ELDERS MEETING ON THE BLOOD ISSUE! SHOCKING CHANGES AFOOT!?

i have just been informed that something is going in with the blood issue within the borg.. a large meeting is being held this weekend with local elders and also many elders from all over the country/the united kingdom and members from the bethel and hospital liason committee to discuss the blood issue.. is anyone else aware of what this is going to be about?.

i wondered whether this would be part of the expected or possible changes that the organization is expected to announce this year that might lose them many members.

any elders here know anything?.

I can't tell you how many of the old timers are saying NO to everything on their card. It's absolutely horrifying how willing they are to kiss their lives good bye because of a very stupid human interpretation of a scripture-

What message would you like to say to anyone studying with the JW's?

i'd say, beware, once you'll be baptized they won't treat you the same way.

they will expect a lot from you, and you'll never be free again to say what you think about the religon or even think for yourself.

they will control your life completely.

Stop, run and and don't look back!!! All you need to live a good life is to follow Jesus' words in the Sermon on the Mount, Matt.5,6,&7.

i was looking up my old hard copies that i printed out through the years from jwd, and came across this powerful post by "outaservice".. it is an open letter written by a "gaila noble" from arizona.

it was posted on january 30, 2002 by outaservice, and he gave me permission to copy/paste it into a new thread, for the benefit of all the newbies and others who have never seen it.

1973 District Convention

i spent the weekend with some relatives.

they have an fairly extensive library of jw material going back 50 years in their spare bedroom.

i was looking at a few items when i found a program for the divine victory convention held in winnipeg, manitoba in 1973. the convention lasted 5 days.
