Children calling jw adults uncle and auntie, when did that start?
by awakening ini cant figure out when the auntie and uncle thing started or why.
it sure is a peadophiles dream to have a kid they dont know call them uncle!
they are now in a special relationship.

I've noticed that in my congregation. This usually happens when the child hangs out a lot with that particular adult.

A spiritual man does not wear colourful socks.
by LogCon inwe encourage all to be examples to the flock.. jesus stated, as recorded in matt 5:29 .
' if, now, your right eye is making you stumble, tear it out and throw it away from you.+ for it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to be pitched into gehenna'.. we certainly do not want to stumble or, worse yet, be a stumbling block to the congregation.
evidently jesus was stating a principle here in matthew that he intended true christians to apply to all aspects of their lives and not just their eyes.

I remember a CO once said to embrace the corns on your feet, because those feet spread the good news of the kingdom. He said to Jehovah your feet are beautiful! I was counseled once for wearing sandals because my feet were the best looking in the entire hall

Inactive ones are bloodguilty?
by dissonance_resolved ini've been thinking about brother morris' statement at the zone meeting this past weekend that inactive ones are bloodguilty.
bloodguilt is defined as "guilty of murder or manslaughter.
" murder is #1 on the list of disfellowshipping offenses- all they would have to do is change the wording from "murder" to "bloodguilt" and suddenly there you have grounds to disfellowship anyone who's inactive.

Why was he talking about inactive ones to begin with?

Name the GOOD things and NICE things about Jehovah's Witnesses
by stuckinarut2 inok, so in the interests of balance....(as it has rightly been pointed out that i am getting more bitter toward the org), can we think of any positive or nice things about jehovah's witnesses?.
just throwing this topic out there....... .

They walk a lot, they have good public speaking skills, they read a lot- which would make them excellent college students, if they supported higher education, good grooming, good at following orders, giving when it comes to watchtower events.
It's ok to be bitter, everyones been there and a lot of us are still there. We progress in stages.

I've been stumbled.
by silent ini just realized that all these dates that the borg have said the end would come on or by and then it didn't happen, have stumbled me.
why such a fascination and trying to divine the answer from scripture when scripture plainly says only the father knows the day and the hour?
by their predictions, they actually sent many christians on the path of date-based worship insted of faith-based worship.. if they have stumbled me, then who is reponsible for that?.

Hey hey hey, that's old light! They have adjusted their understanding as Jehovah has made the light brighter. It is important not to serve Jehovah with a date in mind. Don't be stumbled, continue to run this race with endurance. The end is imminent!! Advertise, Advertise, Advertise

new assembly experience... what do you reckon to this one?
by purrpurr inok so aparently there was this young girl who wanted to study with the jw's because she loved the bible so much.
she asked her fathers permission but he refused, after much nagging though he said she could have a study if she was prepared to have one of her fingers chopped off.
he thought the is would stop her but she was willing so he got a knife and cut off one of her fingers... a little while later she wanted to attend the meetings and he said no and again when nagged said she could attend meetings if she had another finger chopped off so she agreed and he chopped off a second finger.

Awake! to be part of Watchtower Public Edition!
by Atlantis inthis was posted on a jw site and it would be nice if we could verify.. .. .. as of february 2015, the awake!
will come as a part of the watchtower public edition instead of as a separate magazine.
this is a huge change... with serious cost savings.

I was given a magazine by a witless the other day and the Awake is put inside of the watchtower by the society. It's a matter of shipping and formatting.
