When I was a kid, I remember the parking passes. The Capital Center. It may be called something else now.

District Assembly Vehicle Parking Passes: $5.00
by Calebs Airplane ini've been out for a few years now, but when i was in, we frequently had to purchase "vehicle parking passes" several weeks before the start of our district assembly (depending on the coliseum or stadium being rented at the time).
it was usually $5.00 and you were given a 10" x 4" (or so) card with the assembly title/theme printed on.
according to the instructions from a branch letter that was read out loud (usually at the end of the service meeting), this card had to be placed on the right side of your dashboard such that the dub parking attendants can easily see it as you drive through the parking entrance.

When I went to my 1st Buddhist meeting, a lady related her experience (sorry for jargon) about praying and then her Buddhist friend called her. She was Baptist I think.

Not on JW.ORG ; Jehovah's Witness mother shot on way to meeting, dies refusing transfusion. No angelic protection for meeting attendance.
by Balaamsass inin march 2000, residents of virginia, maryland, and washington d.c. watched continuous, often live, news reports about an ongoing manhunt for a police fugitive on the loose.
on march 8, 2000, that career criminal, named joseph palczynski, attempted to carjack a jehovah's witness family on their way to the kingdom hall in joppa, maryland.
palczynski twice shot jennifer mcdonel, 37, who was driving the family auto.

Incidentally, this was the KH I was going to when I was trying to get reinstated. Not the same cong tho (3 congs to KH). Right around the corner from where I used to live. The article didn't mention that she was pregnant.

? Curious: How many Jehovah's Witnesses leave to join "non-christian" religions, ie; Wicca, Pagan, Satanists, Buddists, Hindu, etc. ?
by Balaamsass init may seem a strange question, but when i served as an elder i personally knew of about a dozen elders and servants children who joined various wicca groups or became buddists rather than leave to become agnostic or another "christian" denomination.. the ones who became involved with witchcraft did so in groups of jw children intregued by all the talk of satan's and the demon's power etc.
in the org.. the future buddists seemed turned off by the politics, and mean spiritness in halls.. i just thought of this after seeing the new dismal yearbook numbers and looking at facebook pages of some of the ex jws i know.. was this simply a california thing or is it worldwide?.

Solomon took a Pagan wife, didn't he? And since Joseph had nothing to do with Jesus' birth, how is the Messiah thru David's line? Unless David was an ancestor of Mary.
And like a PP said, David's mistakes made him a "real" person. But like Blondie mentioned, why did other people have to die for his mistakes?

The DCs were like a mini vacation for us cuz we were poor. Staying in a hotel was a luxury.

Uh oh, I think I've been found out! My comment is still there, though. *snicker*
Someone tried to friend me. My profile is private so only my name and picture comes up for non-friends. Another commented and wanted to know if I was apostate. Interestingly, no one has yet to show compassion for the victims.
