by garyneal ini'm just catching up on the latest buzz here and it appears that there is a lot of buzz on the 'new light' coming from the watchtower concerning the governing body and the faithful and discreet slave.
if true, i can really use this to trick my wife and in-laws (who are coming in this weekend) to contradict the new light.. at first i was going to say that this can answer moshe's question regarding who really is the fds but i understand that the change simply means when the body meets on doctrinal matters is when they are collectively the fds.
is that correct?.

i talked with my mom who has been a witness for 55 years and she was quite concerned about the wrongness of what's going on and wanted me to send her the ap news story on it, which i did.

I asked my parents. I was told never to bring it up again. They wanted to know where I got my info from. I said on-line. They said "oh so you're going to apostate websites now." I said no, that I was only researching the molestation issue/(Candice) that's been in the news and I said there are thousands of cases in their religion that have been covered up. They said "We don't have all the facts about individual cases and if abuse can't be proven there are limits in what can be done. Some people also make false accusations. This is Jehovah's org and he will deal with anyone if they do commit these crimes." They also said I was being negative and fault-finding.

i remember not being allowed to go to sleep in the meetings when i was tired.
not being allowed to do lots of things at school other kids could do.

Not a born-in so I was lucky that the first 9 years of my life were normal. Everything changed in 1980. Ages 9 to 19 consisted of dogma being shoved done my throat, constant fighting/arguments with my dad, assemblies and conventions sucked big time, hated field service, hated meetings, hated all of it. I left home a month before my 20th birthday

What it the best way to broach the subject with parents to find out if they're leaving their money and their house to the WTS? I never discussed any kind of estate matters with them. Don't want to appear greedy. Plus they're only in their 60's. I've never been baptized but was raised in borg from age 9 to 19.

Is it safe to say that my JW parents will be leaving the majority of their money to the WTS and not to my sibling and I, even though we were never baptized but we did grow up in the religion? Have a good relationship now. One parent is very hard core. The other parent kind of just defers to the hard core parent

Hi Bobjohnrob, He was a MS. They deleted him from being a MS after the incident when he molested his stepdaughter. They deleted him as a MS but kept the reason a secret from everyone.

Unfortunately, since WT says they're going to appeal, there's a strong possibility that the $27 million dollars could get knocked down to a much smaller amount. Appeals can also drag on for a long time. I hope this doesn't happen but it frequently does when juries award large amounts
