Strike 3 for the elderette and me! (???) I never heard a JW talk SO much about Jesus!
by Faithful Witness inmiss k and her friend miss w arrived promptly today.
our scheduled topic of discussion: jesus' claim to be "the way, the truth and the life..." john 14:6 since she was basing this topic choice on the fact that i had quoted that verse, i'm not sure why... she spent what seemed like a very long time, hopping through scriptures that all said that jesus was the truth, the way, or the life.
ok, so we agreed... i kept waiting for her to get to a point, or sway from this principle.. of course, she summed up with scriptures that show how jesus submits to the father, and what does that mean we should do?

How dare you.
HOW DARE YOU!
This is a new low.
Bringing these honest, hard working people into a demeaning satire for your your own selfish reasons.
Make you feel better?
Well, does it?
I hope they realize it was done in jest and no janitors are offended.

In 1964 my parents took me to see 'My Fair Lady' at the movies.
I was 12 years old and I did not know the scene [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyW0q95Thog ] was at the horse races. I was spellbound by all the big hats. When all the actors came over to the fence there was a increasing rumble which I thought was Armageddon coming.
I really, really, REALLY thought angels were going to collapse the roof. My heart was popping out of my chest. The increasing thunder of the horses hoofs is from 1:22 to 1:37. When the horses road by it took me a minute to understand what was really happening, but my heart did not stop racing for about 4 hours. The pictures of the Paradise Lost book flashed in my mind.
It was frightening.

Quotes from the Watchtower that you agree with 100%
by nicolaou injust curious.
add your quotes with no commentary if you like, it should be obvious why you agree.. the dangers of being deceivedthe really sad fact is that very often the person who is deceived or deluded tends to hold on to his belief in spite of strong evidence proving otherwise.
perhaps he gets so emotionally attached to his belief that he simply shuts his eyes and closes his ears to any evidence that might challenge it.. the watchtower, 01/09/ 2010 p10/11.

WT asking for $$ in 1918
by startingover ini remember a couple of times in the past when publishers were given slips to fill out asking for an amount that could be contributed on a regular basis.
i had no idea it went back this far.

The genius of the new donation arrangement
by thedepressedsoul inive given this new arrangement a lot of detailed thought and how greatly it benefits the wt and how much it puts a strain on each congregation.. first, let me explain how the old arrangement worked.. you had 3 donation boxes in each kingdom hall.
one for worldwide work, one for kingdom hall construction and one for congregation contributions.. the congregation contribution box accounted for about 60-75% of all donations.
the world wide work box probably accounted for 20-30% and the kingdom hall construction for about 5% of the contributions.

2 Cor 9:7 "...Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver..."
This sounds like more than a suggestion. It sounds like a requirement for Christians.
'..not reluctantly ...[not]under compulsion.' The problem for the Society may compound when the flock feels like they are 'under compulsion' and the desire wanes. Try to get someone to renew their desire when it disappears. It is almost impossible. Rev 2:4 made a statement that any adult can understand. Leaving or losing the love for something or someone you had at first, happens to all of us. When did you ever lose a first love and then rekindle it with the same fervor?
The Society tries to keep the 'love' strong by constantly changing the 'food on the plate'. New publications, new arrangements, new meetings, assemblies, exciting 'new light'. I wonder if giving because of hounding by the organization or guilt is more common than giving cheerfully.
I think there are enough examples in the Bible to prove God puts the motivation of the giver ahead of the amount. If the Governing Body has caused a decrease in cheerful giving, they should be preparing for a heavier judgement.
