Quotes from the Watchtower that you agree with 100%
by nicolaou injust curious.
add your quotes with no commentary if you like, it should be obvious why you agree.. the dangers of being deceivedthe really sad fact is that very often the person who is deceived or deluded tends to hold on to his belief in spite of strong evidence proving otherwise.
perhaps he gets so emotionally attached to his belief that he simply shuts his eyes and closes his ears to any evidence that might challenge it.. the watchtower, 01/09/ 2010 p10/11.

WT asking for $$ in 1918
by startingover ini remember a couple of times in the past when publishers were given slips to fill out asking for an amount that could be contributed on a regular basis.
i had no idea it went back this far.
wonder if this started when rutherford got control.

The genius of the new donation arrangement
by thedepressedsoul inive given this new arrangement a lot of detailed thought and how greatly it benefits the wt and how much it puts a strain on each congregation.. first, let me explain how the old arrangement worked.. you had 3 donation boxes in each kingdom hall.
one for worldwide work, one for kingdom hall construction and one for congregation contributions.. the congregation contribution box accounted for about 60-75% of all donations.
the world wide work box probably accounted for 20-30% and the kingdom hall construction for about 5% of the contributions.

2 Cor 9:7 "...Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver..."
This sounds like more than a suggestion. It sounds like a requirement for Christians.
'..not reluctantly ...[not]under compulsion.' The problem for the Society may compound when the flock feels like they are 'under compulsion' and the desire wanes. Try to get someone to renew their desire when it disappears. It is almost impossible. Rev 2:4 made a statement that any adult can understand. Leaving or losing the love for something or someone you had at first, happens to all of us. When did you ever lose a first love and then rekindle it with the same fervor?
The Society tries to keep the 'love' strong by constantly changing the 'food on the plate'. New publications, new arrangements, new meetings, assemblies, exciting 'new light'. I wonder if giving because of hounding by the organization or guilt is more common than giving cheerfully.
I think there are enough examples in the Bible to prove God puts the motivation of the giver ahead of the amount. If the Governing Body has caused a decrease in cheerful giving, they should be preparing for a heavier judgement.

Interview on YouTube with a former Bethelite who ended up homeless
by RayPublisher inthis is one of the most extraordinary interviews i've done on youtube to date and i'm not just saying that.. shawn "zen" dean shared his harrowing story with me of being raised in the jw "truth", going to watchtower farms and then getting his teaching degree only to end up homeless... lots of stories along the way, told with humor, sincerity and a heart full of love.. this is a tender-hearted guy that has had the ass-end of the stick his whole life... that's "the truth"!.

DNCall said, "...for computers and/or Internet access to those who cannot afford these necessary tools."
Excellent opportunity to install keystroke recorders with imbedded links to headquarters. Perhaps they could offer free computers to all members, current and new, and install the same.

they died because they stayed
by Crazyguy inaccording to a video over at jwsurvey there was 3 congregations in the path of that supper typhoon that hit the philippines.
the government had told people in these areas to get out but the jw's stayed for thier thursday night meetings and then spent the night in thier kingdom halls to weather out the storm.
two of the 3 congregations even though their halls were destroyed they all survived but the third a hall in the worst hit area was not so lucky.

Zoos said `This trend can only snowball as the LogCon-types spit hate wads from the back row where they have been confined by decent human beings who demand a higher standard of conduct.
Testy, testy and sensitive too, not to mention quick to jump to conclusions without any evidence to support your statementS.
I MERELY QUOTED chapter and verse. I did not make a conclusion or judgement.

Romans 1:26-28
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
What is so hard to understand about the above statement? Why would someone call themselves Christian and think that homosexuality is okee-dokee?
